Fabianski going to Swansea.

I think I may be in the minority here but I like this. Competition for places and less poohing of the pants should we have a goalkeeping injury/loss of form.

Vorm could even replace our Belgian

Hope not, as its a pointless transfer imho. His agent hasnt heard anything about our interest so hopefully it wont happen.

not that i am against improvement but has jones really been that bad when asked to step in ? i thought he's always done a decent enough job.

Done decent at times, but also made awful mistakes in others, e.g. in a derby game, and against Oldham or Macclesfield in a FA Cup game if I remember correctly. He surprises sometimes by coming out decisively to catch the ball well, but then ruins all his good work with a fumbling in the same game or next game. He just doesn't inspire confidence in fans, I'm afraid.

I suppose a reserve keeper is like buying a personal accident insurance policy. You don't think you need a proper one, and often you don't need it. Then something shit happens and you curse yourself for not having something (good enough) in place.

Jones is okay. We need more than that if we're trying to seriously compete on several fronts.

Not a fan of this, but Rodgers knows what he's doing so fair enough.

How much will he cost? Surely Swansea's second choice keeper can't be over 3milly.

Don't think he was their second choice - he started 26 league games in the 2013/14 season, 26 the season before (out 11 games due to a hand injury) and 37 the season before that.

He's got two years to run on his current contract, so it probably won't be a bargain price if we do move for him.

I'm not saying new signings have to be the finished article.

No, I know - not getting at you - more of a general comment about the whole "he's shit" that we generally, collectively, do when anyone we sign has a poor game.

The thread about the LB is full of people calling him shit while openly admitting they've seen him play about 3 times.

If we sign Lallana, this place will go in to melt down if he doesn't play like Messi every game.

I get questioning players - and I agree their are question marks over Mingolet - he's also been an improvement on where Riena was at, as a player.

No, I mean with Fabianski signing he'll be second choice.

I'm always thinking 2 steps ahead, studsy my boy.

You mean the 29-year-old Fabianski will go to Swansea and become no. 1 over the 30-year-old incumbent who has just one fewer start in the league the last season (26) than the Pole has had in the last 6 seasons combined ( 2, 4, 3, 0, 14, 4 = 27). Erm, you can think two steps ahead, but you gotta' watch where you plant your feet though.

... and in the Champions League vs Barcelona or the EPL versus Citeh away? We need injury cover at the very least, genuine competition for Minolet would be even better.

nah i was saying that just to vex Macca

Jones is probably better than Mignolet though

The Moreno thing i dont think people (maybe the odd one) are writing him off as shit yet, people got a chance to have a look at him in a big game and he was shit, really shit, its hard to be positive after watching that especially if its a first impression, think most realise you shouldn't judge a player on 1 or 2 games and that he must of earned his positive reputation from playing well.

You know it about Lallana, lol, there will be fans just waiting to pounce on anything negative with him and it will take a lot for them to change their minds about him.

Agree with your other points although it is sometimes quite obvious early on when a player is just not up to it (Aspas), it'll be a big season for Mig next year, he'll be playing for his future, more of the same as the 2nd half of last season and he'll be on his way, if we get Vorm it wouldn't suprise to see him playing pretty soon, even from day 1, just dont see how a first choice PL goalkeeper at a good age will move to sit on a bench all season long, how often has that happened?

I saw us beat Tottenham 3-2 (coming from behind twice) with Brad Jones in net and Gareth Bale putting in an 11/10 performance.

He's not a Charles Itanje like many are making him out to be. Perfect option for the bench and 5mill could be better spent (on Ricky Lamb)

[article]"It may be that Swansea are already responding to my [reported] departure," Vorm told Sky Sports News. "But then there must be [an offer]. As long as that is not the case, Fabianski and I will have to fight. I do not necessarily have to leave.

"I didn't know they were planning to sign [Fabianski], I can honestly tell you. At Swansea City I can see the club is growing and there is competition for everyone, and that also applies to me.

"Fabianski was a free agent, which I understood, and he has signed for four years and the present situation is that I will be there after the summer, so I have competition."

Vorm, who signed for the Swans from Utrecht in 2011, made 26 appearances last season.[/article]

What's happened to Tremmel?

Still at the club.
[article=http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/garry-monk-michel-vorm-gerhard-7190003]Monk said: "We are delighted to sign someone with Lukaz's pedigree.

"He is an honest and humble person who wants to work extremely hard. I'm sure he will prove a very good and important signing for Swansea City.

“He's come from a big club where it has been difficult for him to command the number one spot. It's been frustrating for him at Arsenal because he hasn't played as many games as he would have liked.

“But speaking to him this week I could see the hunger he has to come here and prove he is a number one goalkeeper. That's a great attitude to have and it's the only type of player I want at Swansea City.

“I hope we can help him progress as a player and in his career because at 29 he has got to the age where he wants a new challenge. Michel Vorm and Gerhard Tremmel will provide him with plenty of competition, but that's exactly what I want.

“My job is to get the squad as competitive as possible across all areas and this signing confirms that thought process. It has to be a competitive environment and whoever backs themselves and comes out on top will wear the shirt.”[/article]
