They'll be performing all the K pop dance routines next. In formation too, it'll be very impressive.

We should follow dear Keir and endorse the Donald:

I don't think it is a huge shock as such. The biggest surprise for me I guess is that even after all of this time, the US pollsters are still incapable of identifying Trump supporters.

As for the result though, a little while back we would have expected this. Are we then to believe that the only reason Trump was ahead then was because Biden is senile? Seems unlikely, really.

Trump's team clearly knows it's audience, which is the most important step in winning any election.

I'm just glad that there will be no more windmills in the sea around America. Donald pulled out the dub for those Whales.

I've long thought that Trump would win, given how poorly the Democrats ran

The biggest downer is that we beat Alonso 4-0, watched City and Madrid lose and I all I want is to drink sweet salty tears online but all I see are the US election results

If the Democrats were a UK or European party they'd already be considered very right wing. Just America has them pegged as radical leftists or whatever cos they're slightly less right wing than the Trump party. Fuck both of them. Enjoy the TV.

Yeah, they're fairly right wing, do they go further that way now? Can't see how someone that isn't gets elected anytime soon.

I don't think they will need to and don't think they will.

Trump won't be there next time for a start, and if he is even half as bad as people expect then he won't have left a great legacy for his Republican successor.

If they are going to learn anything from Trump then it is to actually find out which groups they can appeal to and target them.

Trump did enough in his first term to nearly get elected the next time, and with decent amount to spare this time. He doesn't need to worry about the next time, but I suspect he'll want to come out of this as a hero. I don't think he'll be half as bad, for American citizens, as people think he might be.

The D’s allowed Trump to become the champion of the working class, while they focused on fringe issues like trans rights and left the border wide open. It’s not really that much of a leap to see why regular people who don’t really care about politics might get turned off by that.

Don’t underestimate the fact that Kamala Harris was a terrible candidate. All the Dem kingmakers knew it but they had no choice when they deposed Biden. She doesn’t come across well in interviews, she didn’t answer simple questions directly, she wouldn’t go on Rogan (I know, I know, but Trump and Vance both did), she has pretty much zero political accomplishments to tout, and her own staff didn’t like her.

Biden barely campaigned for her. Obama made a couple of tepid appearances. Clinton was basically trying to torpedo her with all of his honest answers about the economy and illegal immigrant crime.

Next election will be massively different. Without Trump as the bogeyman the Democrats will have to find a way to seem attractive again. And the Republicans will have to find a way to come out from his shadow - no simple task I think.

Yesterday I spent about 10 seconds following the election, hit TopGolf for the father in law’s birthday, went to bed early, and checked the results at 7:30 this morning. Maybe I’m just getting old but that seemed like a much more interesting way to spend my time.

In his own mind he'll come out of it as a hero whatever happens!

And yes, I agree. I mean, it's difficult to think of a US President that people around the World think is great. People often call them idiots, or dangerous or whatever.

However, not only do they more often than not get re-elected, is there another election around the World that everyone talks as much about? Nope. It is still the major superpower. So whoever they are picking may not appeal to other countries, but it's clearly not doing the US a lot of harm, which is the main point really.

What analysts dont really talk about is Turnout ratings, what we re seeing is a significant drop compared to 2020.
As we speak, Harris got just short of 69 Mio. votes and Trump 72.6 Mio.

Now compare that to Biden's 81.2 Mio and Trump's 74.2 Mio votes in 2020.

That is 14 Mio less voters than 2020 election

What we see is Trump's base was mobilized for the vote but a significant drop for Harris.
69M is better than what H. Clinton got but still 12 Mio less than Biden in 2020.
Those are not definitive results but turnout is far from Historical like Trump would obviously brag about.

When you do the math, she lost MI, PA, Wis, GA for a combined 350k votes...litterally nothing. It was a very fine margin unlike what most say, due mainly to abstention in Dem's ranks.
the slim difference is in these swing states' big cities like Detroit, Milwaukee, Philadelphia, Atlanta where Harris got slightly less votes than Biden 4 years ago and allowed Trump to flip those states.

Why the turnout drop then?

Harris had a short campaign vs Trump's 4 years, she probably wasnt ready, no primaries to show more a programme or who she really was and was still quite unpopular in Dem's ranks, esp with the progressive wing.
The Gaza war cost her votes esp. in Michigan.
And of course, we cannot forget Musk's X factor with Putin's help for the final push these last few months, buying votes, sharing lies and fake news.

X was probabbly the decisive factor for that 350K difference.

Musk must be a happy man, he didnt invest all these millions in the campaign for nothing, Trump will pay him back big time with Goverment contracts, even more Tax cuts and a position in DC.
