Transfer Rumours

And that's even before you get to his wages. I know they can afford it - for now at least - but the Glazers are going to want to see a return on all that cash PDQ. Remains to be seen if they can be successful enough quickly enough.

Herrerra is a very talented - Xavi like - player but remind again how that makes their midfield tougher to bypass in waves? Who's going to hold there? Carrick? Felliani? Anderson? He's not the type of middie they need, unless of course Rooney will be converted to that.

I think we will make another CM signing in this window.although if Strootman is looking like he will recover then I think he may be it.

What type of midfielder do you think we need?

It seemed like United were being linked with the right sort of players they needed last summer(Marchisio, Vidal, Gundogan, Fabregas), but the issue was that none of those were realistic targets at the time. It just seems like that midfield badly needs a shot in the arm though, with Mata starting to alleviate that issue.

I think a lesser know player like Nainggolan could really galvanize the side. I personally think Fellaini could be very successful if used correctly, and play a massive role in your season. He's looked excellent for Belgium, and I'm a big fan of his play.

Ironically, Pogba would have checked a lot of the boxes in the sort of player necessary. Maybe if PSG bring in more bodies for their midfield, Matuidi would be available. Our signing Emre Can could very well end up turning into that player you need. Or you drop Rooney into a deep midfield role, which could be a huge success.

You NEED Lucas, his buyout is crazy, but we'll do you a deal for the money you paid for Fellaini/Herrera - something reasonable like that.

Is strootman in danger of becoming a crock? His injuries over the last few years have been serious ones haven't they?

His last one was for sure. He is exactly what they need in midfield though. Van Gaal loves him as well. They should have bought him before he went to Roma really. I was surprised it was his only option.

Origi is an exciting transfer if it goes through. He's changed the games for Belgium with his pace and movement when he's been brought on imho. Decent finish against Russia aswell.

Belgian journos say he's a bigger talent at this age than Lukaku and Benteke were, thats pretty decent.

No more Alberto's or Ilori's please

Might pass on Lucas

I reckon Herrera will turn out to be decent value. Market is just getting much more expensive

I think at the fee being quoted for Herrera, the best you can really hope for is getting average value. When you start spending that much money on a player, and don't have bottomless pockets, it becomes almost impossible to get great value. Even with the market getting pricier, I think there's better value to be had, just as obviously a more risky proposition.

Last 4 Utd signings including Shaw: 28, 37, 30 and 35 mill. Insane and very little value for money.

Giggs

In the long run he'll be a fantastic signing, it's a lot to fork out on the future when you need a big boost now though.

Evra is staying, though, isn't he? Shaw will be a great understudy to him. And he's good enough to slot in now, in my opinion

Will probably be a good player for them. But 35 mill and 100k pr week for a 18 year old kid.
Its insane.

It's a gamble but is it insane ? Could get an amazing 10-12 years out of him if the early signs continue , in which it's great value .

You've got to speculate to accumulate and I've got a feeling this one will come good for them, very good.

Rio had already moved for a lot of cash to Leeds and had played way more games. It is far more of a risk.

Oh no doubt.

I just mean they pay what seems an excessive fee, but get a top young defender for 10 plus years to justify it.

I think you have to keep in mind that any signing you make is far more likely to fail at living up to the hype, than to succeed and exceed all expectations. When you end up spending a ton of money on a teenager, especially at arguably the least important position on the pitch, then the likelihood of Shaw not panning out as planned ratchets up tremendously.
