Transfer Rumours

According to the Belgian journos Origi will cost us about 8 mill £ and be loaned back to Lille for one season.

Looked clumpsy when I have seeen him.

We must be spending serious monies if we have close to 10 million to spend on a player and loan him straight out

Origi is an exciting transfer if it goes through. He's changed the games for Belgium with his pace and movement when he's been brought on imho. Decent finish against Russia aswell.

Belgian journos say he's a bigger talent at this age than Lukaku and Benteke were, thats pretty decent.

He looked pretty unpolished in the two World Cup games I saw him play, but at 19, that's not unexpected. Interesting what the Belgian journos say, because Lukaku scored 30+ goals in 2 seasons at Anderlecht at 16/17 and 17/18. Then he went to Chelsea and stalled for a year prior to his later successful loans to West Brom and Everton. Ogiri hasn't had the same sort of success with Lille B and Lille though. I'm curious what sets him apart from Lukaku for them to rate him so highly.

Speaking of Lukaku - he really needs to develop a better first touch. Been quite disappointed in him this World Cup as his touch has been poor and he's looked lackadaisical.

His movement has been abysmal

So the scum give him the money and he buys himself out. Presume he foregoes and loyalty bonuses etc by doing that, fair play.

Herrera has looked not bad, but not great whenever I've seen him. I'm not sure if he was injured, but he was bollocks up until about jan/feb time too, he was better the season before. Seems like a solid not exceptional sort of player, in the Carrick/Cleverly sort of bracket for me with a little more creativity.
He's got no where near the spain team and he's 24 (I know they've got loads of great midfielders already).
Also, he needs to be a no.10 really to get anything decent out of him, so that'll be about 15 no.10's they have then.

why didn't man utd just pay the Herrera fee themselves instead of getting him to do it?

both overpriced but good signings that address key problems in the squad

Herrerra is a very talented - Xavi like - player but remind again how that makes their midfield tougher to bypass in waves? Who's going to hold there? Carrick? Felliani? Anderson? He's not the type of middie they need, unless of course Rooney will be converted to that.

I don't see that working either TBH. He won't want to play there, and at the same time van Gaal won't tolerate any refusal to do so - a potential recipe for disaster (we can but hope).
