Liverpool demand £7m from Stoke for Oussama Assaidi's services

Brendan Rodgers is happy to sell winger but is demanding a significant fee for the 25 year-old who impressed on loan at Britannia Stadium last season

Liverpool have told Stoke City to pay a staggering £7 million for winger Oussama Assaidi.
Stoke are planning to sign Assaidi this summer after the Morocco international impressed on loan but have been left stunned by Liverpool's opening valuation.
Liverpool are keen to boost the funds available to manager Brendan Rodgers as they prepare for the Champions League and are determined to raise around £30million through player sales.
Rodgers is happy to sell Assaidi, a £3.5 million signing from Heerenveen in August 2012, but Liverpool are demanding a significant fee for the 25 year-old.
Stoke believe the valuation is unrealistic and are confident of haggling with Liverpool in a bid to lower the price to a more acceptable level.

Mark Hughes, the manager, has already signed Phil Bardsley from Sunderland on a free transfer and is set to complete a deal for long-term target Mame Biram Diouf.
Stoke have agreed a three-year deal with Diouf, who will leave Hannover this summer, and will announce the transfer next month.

Not really, I'm happy we're being tough sellers - the more money we make through the sales the better.

Just hope we don't peg it so high that all potential buyers lose interest!

Rodgers apparantly wants to raise about 30 mill in sales.
Assaidi had a good season for Stoke and he worth more than the 2,4 mill we paid.
5-6 is about right imho. So starting at 7 mill is more than justified when you see the other ridiculous fees around.

They value him at 3-4 so if we get them to pay 5-5,5 then thats a good deal for us. We dont need him but shouldnt just flog him for a low fee.

Rumours reaching the mole say that Liverpool have agreed a 2 year deal with free agent Ashley Cole, Cole who recently announced on Twitter that his 8 year stay at Chelsea was coming to an end as he could not agree a deal with the Londoners. A source revealed that negotiations have indeed taken place and Liverpool are keen to secure his services.
Cole would certainly fit the bill in terms of being an attacking left back who is an outstanding defender. He does however carry some serious baggage. He’s been involved in numerous strange incidents away from the football pitch including shooting a Chelsea trainee with an air rifle in a “prank that went wrong”. While football wise this definitely has all the traits of a Brendan Rodgers style footballer one would have to question how the fan base would greet this signing.

Never really understood the general hate/dislike for Ashley Cole, always feel i must have missed something along the line somewhere with him, he has always appeared inoffensive on the pitch so it must be offield stuff?

Doesn't it all stem from that story of him nearly crashing his car when he heard Arsenal offered him 'only' 60k per week?

Any Liverpool fan who watches football would greet it with a 'nice one, he'll do'.

Cole has at least two seasons left in him, & suits our style perfectly.

Definately, hes an improvement on what we have there, thats the way to do it.

If this does happen then hopefully that means Rodgers has a nice wedge to spend on a right back.

He's also a proven winner - and will have a massive chip on his shoulder ... Will want to show he's still the best LB in the country.

A good signing if wages are reasonable.

I'm very uncertain about Moreno. The attacking talent is there but his defensive qualities are a bit questionable.
Cole for free for 2 seasons sounds better imho.

Moreno is a big sketch after that Europa League final, how can that game of done anything but discourage anyone?

With Moreno there wasn't even any glimpses of anything good about him in amongst all the shit he served up in the EL final, he looked a split second behind the play most of the time, he got just about away with it then but there would be no getting away with that in England, there was some real bad touches also, no excuses for them, just really poor, he looked like he has a lot to learn still, that final really was an awful advertisment for him.
First impressions can be a fucker though, its hard to shake them off sometimes, there must be something about him though as hes got a positive reputation.

There are so many, he's just an arsehole.

“As we were walking out of the club I asked Ashley about Cheryl but he clammed up. I remember thinking I was going home with a married man and that his wife was one of the most famous singers in the country.”
“I asked him if he would get in trouble with Cheryl and he just said, absurdly, ‘She knows what I do. I just can’t get found out’. I was really shocked by that - it showed he couldn’t care less about breaking his marriage vows.”
“He just kept saying to me, ‘Please don’t tell anyone, I’ll get in so much trouble’. Then he started apologising for what he was about to do.”

The pair then headed to a flat belonging to a friend of Ashley’s in north London but Ashley was ill on the way: “During the ride he was slurring his words and was a right mess. Then he just threw up everywhere.”
“My friend was going mad but he just smiled and said to me, ‘She should be privileged Ashley Cole was sick in her car.’ His T-shirt was covered in sick and he took it off. I remember being really disturbed by how violently ill he was.”

He's also just a massive fucking bellend cunt

I'd hate him if he played for us, but he's magnificent at his job

So I'll hate him, while cheering him on

Unfortunate as it may be, an element of cnutishness is probably a necessity for teams to be consistently successful. Had the Mancs not been managed by the biggest cnut in the game (genuinely great manager, genuinely despicable human being) until 2013 they would defo not have won so many trophies over such a long period.

Playing-wise also, IMO Cole has been discarded two seasons too early both by Chavski and by England. I've seen no evidence - absolutely none - that he's not what he was, and I don't think there's any question that he'd strengthen us big-time.

Sign sign sign.

Let's sign Julian Dicks. It's about time this team had a streak of violent thuggish cuntishness in it.

It's what it doesn't have therefore what it needs.

Who the fuck is the mole?

Lol, it's just such a lame argument. And anyway, even if it were true, it surely hardly applies to Cole, who's really more of a tragic bellend than a cunt, and hardly likely to inject the kind of ruthless steel you lot seem to be referring to. He's not Roy Keane.

Disclaimer: I'm not denying he's a quality player and a good signing on paper. I'm just not sure I could stretch to wanting him to play for us.

It's like how I'll get to actually laugh at Glenjo at the WC without having to deal with his failures.

Nobody's mentioned "ruthless steel" in this context apart from you, Peter. The point is a different one, namely that someone being a total dipsh!t away from the pitch doesn't make them a poor addition to the club or the team, and in fact has apparently had the opposite effect in some cases.

As for wanting Cole or anyone else to play for us, I have one criterion and one only: will whoever it is help to bring the title home?

You said necessity. So did Ryan.

I have to deal with what you write, not what you wished you wrote, or thought you wrote, or dreamt you wrote.
