Transfer Rumours

[article]According to Roma newspaper Il Tempo, Roma have received bids from both Manchester United and Manchester City in recent days.

Injured Dutch midfielder Kevin Strootman, who was signed for £14m last summer, is reportedly the subject of a £30m+ bid from a soon-to be Louis Van Gaal led Manchester United.

Roma have also received a £25m bid from Manchester City for key centre back Mehdi Benatia, with the Premier League champions willing to double his salary.

The 27 year old Benatia and the 24 year old Strootman are said to be happy in the Italian capital.[/article]

This is why I love this forum, normal threads get taken over by utter randomness, the mods closing and shutting the thread, with some desperately trying to get it back on track. I am genuinely interested in what links are out there and how we will improve this summer, but

Surely there is a website or gallery of bond girls so we can have a definitive vote on the matter?

Thanks in advance

Barrett saying Lucas and Agger could be sold if significant offers are received.

Aspas, Alberto, Assaidi, Reina, Borini, Coates and Suso are available for a transfer.

Ilori will go on loan next season aswell

Robinson and Coady too.

Says we're in the market for a young holding mid. Something in the William Carvalho link maybe?

Yep, and the dominant CB ties in with Caulker I guess

The quality he's after took a hit by the Bertrand link mind...

Would rather we get Cole on a free. Good enough for a couple of yrs whilst still aiding the development of Flanno.

Going purely off Moreno's performance tonight spending 16/17 million on him would be criminal, he was dreadful and easily the worst player on the pitch, very lucky to not cost his team.

I'm guessing he must have something if he's been so highly rated and is in that Spain squad.

But admittedly from what I've seen, he looks the least impressive of all the fancy left backs we've been linked to (Shaw, Rojo, Rodriguez).

It would be really nice to see Illori on loan to a PL side but i suppose its not easy getting a PL manager to put his trust in a youngster at CB and give him the games we need him to get.

Tbh, a lot of the players we're being linked to smack of Rodgers having an increased influence. And I do NOT mean that in a good way.

Caulker, Lallana, Bertrand... very much the kind of uninspired targets we had when he first arrived. Slightly worrying.

Bertrand is very worrying if true. Hopefully its bs.
According to Rory Smith the bid for Lallana is 17 mill and is still under consideration.

Yeah, no-one around here has much good to say about him and after watching that its easy to understand why, as you say he must have something to be so highly rated but that something wasn't there at all tonight, reminded me of Traores first half against Milan, pure liability.

Yeah, the targets do sound Rodgers-esque.

However, given what our transfer committee came up with over the last 2 windows, they're as much use.

At least all the sub-par players are rightly identified and being sought to be shipped out

I don't really have much of a problem with Lallana. He wouldn't be my choice but the guy is class. It's as part of a possible pattern of targets that he'd worry me.

A bit like when we were after Walcott when Rodgers first arrived. Nothing wrong in isolation, but when you realised all the other targets were also kind of obvious, well-known, poor value, good-to-middling PL players, it was a bit disconcerting.

Same here, Cole is an upgrade on what we have there, and then spend on a right back.

Not sure if we will give Cole what he wants though, who knows if its true but saw it somewhere that we are not prepared to offer Cole the length of contract he wants, didn't mention money, you would guess we would offer 2 years like we did with Toure and thats right really.

People at the Echo seem adamant that we're not after Cole, so I'd say that's probably not going to happen.

Cant say that its a shame if it doesn't happen, if the wages are sensible then it makes sense if we are after a right back to replace Johnson,
get the feeling we arn't looking to replace Johnson so that idea is dead anyway really.

What is the story with Ilori ? Did i see somewhere before that Rodgers didn't want him but the committee went ahead with it anyway ?

Are we letting him leave as part of a plan to develop him or because they don't rate him ?

something seems bit off where he's concerned
