Transfer Rumours 21/22

Improve? For sure. He'll get so many soft FKs for KDB to score.

Massively? Who knows. He needs to adapt to Tiki-Taka like Mahrez has had to, who imo is more talented.

Grealish is a ball-hog who is sometime guilty of overplaying.

Pep likes tip-tappy bellend, where the emphasis will be on a lot of short, crisp passing. He'll also need to deal with the fact he's competing against top players week in, week out.
I support this post.

I do too.... on the grounds of it’s exactly what I said, just without calling Grealish a dumb cunt... twice.

Well.... look on the bright side, it hasn’t veered wildly off topic into something like manly flower arranging, the habitat of the furry water vowl, the greatest 4,000 films ever mad or etiquette for taking a piss in a trough urinal.

Which makes it unique for a SCM thread.

Atalanta want to pay 40m for Abraham, WTF. This guy was about as useful to Chelsea as Origi was for us last season.

This is just the usual let's talk about everything in one thread so theres a minimal level of discussion thread.

We need a proper thread about Divock where I can clearly highlight the opinions of the utter gobshites like Woland, Hansern and Frogfish who believed he was destined for greatness.

This mish mash of shit is no fun
I'm happy for you to start all the threads you like!

Err yes, here and now. So you are ignoring the stats then. From Dmishra's post : last season being Firmino's worst season (so it's eminently likely he won't repeat that), 9 goals and 7 assists - 16 goal involvements. Ings : exactly the same - 12 goals, 4 assists -16 goal involvements.

Give yourself a biscuit for watching every game ... like 90% on here (myself included).

Last season was certainly his worst, but unfortunately it's not an outlier it's a trend
17/18 27 goals
18/19 16 goals
19/20 12 goals
20/21 9 goals

Bobby has been a great player for us and seems like a great guy to have at the club but his decline is clear for all to see. Why some people insist on denying I don't quite understand.

Ings played 7 games less which is a pretty significant part of this comparison.
If by significant you mean (expropolating) an extra 3-4 combined goals/assists, then no not particularly significant at all, especially since 2 of Ings' goals were penalties ... and that he created very few chances for others (Bobby 11 vs Danny 3).

This is one of the major differences, Bobby is a team player (42 assists in 211 matches) whereas Danny is more of a traditional CF (13 assists in 140 matches).

To clarify, 20/21 season:

Firmino
Pld 36 - Gls 9 - Assts 7 - Big chances created 11 Woodwork 3 Penalties 0 Big Chances missed 13

Ings
Pld 29 - Gls 12 - Assts 4 - Big chances created 3 Woodwork 1 Penalties 2 Big Chances missed 6

Oh and if we are discussing Bobby's drop off then how about Danny's ?
22 goals from 36 games the season before, to 12 from 29 last. These being exceptional seasons for him because the previous season at Southampton only yielded 7 goals from 24 matches.

I don’t think people are disputing his decline. I think replacing him with Ings is the debate. A few years ago I’d have been all over trying to get Ings into that role but not now.

We’ve needed to replace Firmino for 2 summers.
& this season wouldv'e been the 3rd, just have to accept we're not going to replace him until his contract's up and he leaves on a free....same way we never really replaced Coutinho.

He did achieve greatness, he scored the winning goal in Champs league final.
What else do you want?
The problem was he should have retired that summer.

It may or may not be an outlier because last season as a whole most certainly was (from lack of a real rest or pre-season, being affecting by Covid, by a lack of crowds, massive injury disruption to the team and the form of the team (chance conversion rate was horrendous).

Not that I think for one minute he'll return to 18 - 19 levels but there's little between 12 & 9 goals considering how Mane for example also dropped off a cliff (11 goals, 7 assists and he missed an outrageous 18 Big Chances last season, I'm sure some of those created by Firmino). So I could easily see a 30 yr old Bobby hitting 12-14 goals and actually having more assists too if e.g. Mane can start putting them away again.

Though I don't for one second disagree that we need, as worst, to be bedding in a replacement this season. One would hope supplanting Bobby too for next.

We became more destructive once coutinho left. We adjusted our style and will do once again once Firmino, Mané and Salah move on.

If that's what you want to believe go for it.

His personal opinion is that he reckons we'll sign a couple, but that's not based on any insider info.

My post was more a dig at optimistic posters.

So you're having a dig at him as well then? 😉
Seeing as a couple of signings seem to be the common denominator.

He doesn't have a clue either.

I think we need a couple. But what we need and what we get are usually two different things.

i think the last derailment might have been pizza based

Stop with your fucking double negatives and your overblown shite then will you.

He doesn’t “massively” improve them, in the same way Ange Postecoglou isn’t a “great” manager.

Does Grealish improve them - probably - on the basis he adds depth - but none of us know how the dumb cunt will perform when he’s not top dog, the first name on the sheet every week, and coping with coming on in the last 15 minutes or starting one game in every 3.

I look forward to Pep trying to explain his over complicated tactics to the dumb cunt. Both faces will be a picture.
He does and if you don’t see that then you are blind.
It’s actually funny how bias our fans are against players we can’t sign. Grealish is superb and will definitely add to their quest for the quadruple.

Even if it is 15 mins, it’s a player that will make a difference where we fucking turn to kids or shite when we need a goal.
