Transfer Rumours 21/22

I could see Sterling going to Spurs as a way of getting back to London. He'll play enough to keep his England place for the World Cup. I wonder what City's plan is for him with only 12 months left. I would more than happily see him return to Anfield.

He is 26 and approaching the peak of his career. He is way too ambitious to spend his best years with Spurs. Look at the way he and his agent have moved forward with his career from QPR to us to City. He is only going to move to a club which guarantees him trophies. If the pandemic had not happened, I wouldn't be surprised if his agent was trying to get him a move to Real.

They don't necessarily need to be current top players - but 160m is a lot of investment and they already have match winners and solid stars in the squad. I think Spurs minus Kane + 160m of talent is better than current spurs with no extra investment.

They're Spurs.

They got a wedge for Bale, and spent it on 6 or 7 superstars; Levy (or was it Sugar then?) said something about selling Elvis & buying the Beatles.

They flopped

Really? That was such a swift and quick transfer. Hardly heard anything about it before it was done.

Does this now mean that it doesn't matter who the manager is, if you have the money you can get anyone you want?

Fucking Solskjaer man, what's he ever done.

Agreed and I don't think they will, but if (for example) Silva goes there, they get more cash in the deal and they spend some of that on Danny Ings, this could yet turn out to be their Coutinho windfall moment.

Not if they spend it on Danny Ings it won’t.

Might be their Carrol moment.

Exactly this. If it's not to PSG/Barca/Real then he'll stay put. Spurs aren't even a remote option ... they are literally not on the Sterling radar.

If you're referring to Ings' injury record, I'm assuming he'd have to pass a stringent medical or they wouldn't sign him. If you're referring to his ability, I completely disagree and so would Klopp and LFC. If it had been up to us we'd have kept him.

I just don’t rate him as highly as you - although as always, I respect your opinion.

Some italian newspaper is saying that we offered Juve €100 mill for Chiesa

I'd take Chiesa in a flash.
I mean who wouldn't? But where the fuck are we getting €100 mill to pay for that transfer when we can't afford fucking McGinn.
We were haggling with Norwich about a £15 mill left back last summer.
