Transfer Rumours 21/22

Only 9 clubs in the league have been active in the transfer market and bought a player.
We being one of them.

In other words, not much have happened yet..

The defender should have happened last summer after we sold Lovren. So not quite sure we need to applaud Konate transfer just yet. But yes, long way to go till the window closes.

I’m glad we got all our transfer business out of the way early this window, so that we can totally ignore everything that’s going on until it closes and prepare the list of who we have to sign in January to secure Champions League qualification.

Seems like we are the only club which still believes financial fair play is a thing.

2 years ago we didn't spend because the money was all used to upgrade the contracts of our core squad. Last year there was no money because of covid uncertainty. I wonder what it will be this year, probably the expansion of the stadium.

It's great that we won the title last year because realistically it looks like it's not happening again for a while

That wasnt the point either. We obviously should have done so, in hindsight.
There hasnt been much activity yet, and its a long time until the window closes - for everyone.
Regardless of how many we get.

I’m guessing its just the way it and some work. «This 21/22 season has started really shit you now, really shit.» -We havent played a game yet? «Its shit! Shit».

.

I don't even think it's hindsight. I'd imagine a lot of people wanted another defender. Even klopp did.

Our plan was to start the season with 3 CBS, 2 of which are injury prone, with our DM to drop back as 4th choice...leaving our injury prone midfield a man down.

It was ridiculously poor decision makig by the owners

And they look to be doing it again.

So, for me, we still need a midfielder to replace gini and a backup/replacement for bobby, as a minimum.

I think we'll get 1 decent player, and 1 stop gap

If I was them, I'd offer Chelsea 100 million for Kante.
Get him, that frees up Pogba who's a better creative engine than Penandes.
Chelsea don't need the money and why on earth would they sell Kante, one of their very best players, to United ! That makes zero sense I'm afraid.

I didn't say Chelsea would sell - but that it would be an idea signing for Manure.
Kante & Pogba in that 2 is far better than what they normally go with (Fred & McTominay)

Think they'll go all out for Camavinga. Read somewhere yesterday that we are already out of that conversation due to the wages and contract.

Despite all the doom and gloom on here I remain optimistic we can challenge.

United will be stronger but with a full squad last year we would have been miles ahead of them, they still have a lot of catching up to do, Sancho will help with that for sure but that won't be enough to win them the league.

City didn't win by much last season (12 points and only then when United dropped points over the final few games, it could easily have been just 7 pts from a weakish United team) considering the advantage they had (our injury catastrophe and them remaining virtually injury free for most of the season). Would Kane suit their style of play? Will they sign Grealish and if they do then of course it relegates someone to the bench. Their squad has been amazing for 5 seasons. It didn't help them win the PL 5 times on the bounce. Still favourites though.

Chelsea have a really good squad (not great) and a really good (not great) manager. They'll be up there.

And then there's us. I feel our squad is coming together, we already have a superb first team and are only 2-3 players (midfielder, striker and FB) off a very fine squad able to challenge for both PL and CL.

It's going to be one of the best, closest, title races in years as clubs take points off each other. And I feel that works in our favour.

GK (A) : Becker & Kelleher
CBs (A) : VvD, Konate, Gomez, Matip and Philips (for the moment at least).
FBs (A but B if one is injured) : Two world class FBs. Weak backup (maybe Tsimitas, Gomez, Davies & Millie).
DM (A but B if Fabs is injured): Fabinho (Hendo or Thiago the backups)
Midfield (A but dips into B territory of one of Fabs, Hendo or Thiago is missing) : Hendo, Thiago, Jones, Milner, Keita, Shaq. & Ox.
Attack (A but B perhaps when we lose two for the AFC, but only for 2 games) Mane, Jota, Firmino, Salah

I reckon we'll sell Neco, Philips, Karius, Minamino, Ojo, Wilson, Woodburn and Origi. I think Shaq will stay unless we really need the cash for another midfielder.

United signing Sancho is depressing. The amount of goals and assists he will get for them over the next 10 years will be extremely high.

Not if Ingerlund are losing against Ukraine, Southgate throws him on without a proper warm up, and his hamstrings snap in both legs, and as he is falling to the ground he rolls over both of his ankles, and if he happens to be the last substitute and the physio is instructed to try and get him to run it off, his knee ligaments also get torn clean off the bone. That would be the total opposite of depressing.

It depends who we sell.

However, as of right now I'd say we need another CB to go along with that. I just don't trust Matip or Gomez to stay fit for longer than 10 games in a season.

I’m already looking forward to next summer’s transfer window - when we’ll finally sign the players we needed to sign this summer.

We just need to get those players we weren’t really interested in anyway offloaded to other clubs, leaving the way clear for us to snaffle the ones we were really after all along.

Varabe & Slab Head ... damn.
Unlike our owners, proper investment.

Well..... it’s not if their owners are financing it - they’re just loading the debt back on the club and if it all goes pear shaped they’ll walk away without giving a fuck or being out of pocket.
