Monaco is said to be leading the race for the ex-RB Salzburg man, with Leeds, Wolves, Southampton and Fulham also hotly on the trail. And now another French side has thrown their hat into the ring, with The Times’ Paul Joyce reporting that Lyon are also interested in Minamino.

Lyon's a nice place too but it's not Monaco. Unless someone else made a stand-out wage offer there's only one place on that list I'd be looking to go.

Is Monaco really that nice? It just looks like lots of ugly apartment buildings and really old rich douchebags driving Bentleys.

Monaco would be a great place to live imo
It’s listed as one of the safest places to live and can offer a high quality of life which is a good start 🙂

‘Monaco offers a high quality of life. Monaco is one of the safest countries in the world. People in the Monaco population live longer on average with one of the longest life expectancies in the world at 85.8 years. Monaco also has a low unemployment rate’

The combination of excellent infrastructure, high quality of living and advantageous tax regime make Monaco the internationally sought after place it is and has always been. Monaco is one of the safest places on earth.

Agree with@Judge Jules

Wasn't it the original topless bathing mecca too?

I would certainly acknowledge that the extent of development can sometimes be excessive. To take one example, for that reason Malta's not entirely what it used to be. That said, if you know where to look and where to go in such locations it's always possible to find nicer and more enjoyable spots.

I don't know, sounds plausible though.

I actually did really love St Tropez tbf. It's genuinely beautiful.

Haha that reminds me :

I spent 6 months staying with a girlfriend (French, and her Spanish girlfriend) who was there working at a dance school (I'm guessing this was around 40 years ago) in Perpignan. We used to go to the beach every day and I'd go up and down the beach singing my sales song "Les Glaces, Beignet, Boisson, Coca Cola, Orangina" ... like the Pied Piper, children used to follow along joining in on the Coca Cola, Orangina bit! Then buying the most awesome herb filled grilled chicken from a van on the way back to the bus home.

It was easy to tell the nationalities, on the far right were the Spanish and Italians (full bikinis), in the middle the Brits and French (topless) and on the far left the Scandos and Germans (naked).

Just to be cynical, a place with an exceptionally rich population (and no poverty!) in low crime shocker. Also, having access to the best healthcare in the world extends your life.

So it isn’t a surprise.

Hopefully a bidding war ensues and we get upto £20m plus

I agree that we won't sign anyone else.

But I think it's clear we should get in at least another £40m in sales and probably a bit more.

And am I just to assume from now on that ALL the fantastic amount of cash we bring in from exceptional CL performance - it must be £50m above any kind of reasonable budgeted income - just goes straight out in staff bonuses? If so, is it really wise to be paying people so much for something they'd do for free?

Shouldn't there be SOME kind of dividend for all that success?

I don't know. We're doing great on the pitch so it's churlish to moan too much. But it does irritate me that we're somehow always apparently scrimping and saving. Oh heaven forbid that the owners might ever expect to lay out a bit of cash in order to return the gigantic capital gain they're no doubt accruing.
Don’t forget that we’ve been taking on big capital projects over the last three summers - training ground and now Anfield Road. They will have eaten up a lot of our spare cash and there should be more to spend next summer.

Don't worry I won't forget the loyal fan's mantra that we "have to live within our means". I'd hate to think of John Henry et al putting any of their own capital at any risk.
