Transfer Rumours 21/22

I mean, Nunez was a makeweight for Owen wasn't he?

Perhaps we can swap keita and 90m for barella.

In September 2020, after four years at Lazio and apparent interest from clubs such as Manchester City, Alberto put pen to paper on a five-year contract. It would see Lazio reportedly include an £87m release clause in Alberto’s new deal.

This was down to Alberto’s impressive form for the Serie A club. In his first four seasons in Italy, Alberto provided 44 assists as well as scoring 26 goals.
Lazio were desperate to keep him, and they wanted to make sure that, if a financially strong club came calling, they would be in a strong position. This is, once again, where Liverpool come in.

When negotiating the deal to send Alberto to Lazio, Edwards and his team included a 30% sell-on clause in the deal, meaning Liverpool could be entitled to some future fee. Should Lazio get even half of that release clause for Alberto, £43.5m, the Reds could bank a tidy sum of £13m.

Since signing his new contract, Alberto has made a further 84 appearances for the Italian club to take his tally up to , scoring a further 14 goals and contributing another 16 assists.

Given Alberto has now reached 29 years of age, and his form, while steady, is not likely to attract the interest of the world’s richest clubs. But were a club to show an interest and Lazio end up considering that offer, then Liverpool will be waiting to receive the benefits of another piece of Edwards’ negotiating genius.

Doesn’t he play on the same side as saka? Or is he pretty flexible?

They've just bought Fabio Vieria who plays in the same role as Smith Rowe and Odegaard. Are interested in Lisandro Martinez when they have Gabriel/Tierney. So it comes as no surprise that they are trying to sign Raphinha who is mostly effective on the same side as Saka.

They either are going to play 1-1-8, or they have absolutely no clue about what they are doing.

Gravenberch and Mazraoui to Bayern, Onana to Inter Milan, Haller to Dortmund. Martinez and Anthony linked with moves too. 😵

30M for a player like Haller.. not what I was expecting from Dortmund.
I mean, he took the piss for Ajax, and before West ham he did it at Frankfurt.

Him and adyemi is a decent little transfer to replace haaland

Was saying this to my Arsenal supporting mates yesterday and they said they're trying to replace Pepe who they're desperately trying to offload. According to them, Saka only played on the right last season (and has been playing too many games anyway), Vieira was brought in to compete with Odegaard, Jesus might not sign because City want more than 50m and nobody cares about Lisandro Martinez.

They're allso all convinced that Smith Rowe is a useless lazy cunt, don't see Nketiah as anything more than an impact sub/squad player and are resigned to another season of their midfield depending on Thomas Partey's fitness and Granit Xhaka's brain

30 mill on Lisandro Martinez and nobody cares. Sums up Arsenal to a tee.
Also replacing Pepe (a 72 mill transfer) with Raphinha to compete with Saka when you have glaring holes in the rest of the team is also just bonkers.

Utd, Everton and Arsenal are in a class of their own with poor transfer strategies.

I mean to be fair.. one could argue we are neglecting our weakness in the midfield.

Our attempt at signing Tchoumanei suggest otherwise. If Everton, Arsenal and Utd had adopted the "wait for right player mentality" they wouldnt be in the shits.

Right target to address our weakest area, just seems weird that we would just go "never mind then" and then not sign anyone. Clearly a lot of reliance on harvs and jones to keep keita and ox off the bench

Yep, I think it's one of those Van Dijk type stories again. We'll wait until the right player comes along. It has worked out before...but another season without back up for Fabs?
Not too happy about that.
We have three top midfielders. Two over 30. One injury prone.
I don't know what to make of Keita.
Jones, same there
Milner can perform from time to time, but the game is catching up to him.
Ox...meh
Carvalho, new to the league
Morton is still a kid and he's built like McManaman

Getting Gini for 12 months seems like a good idea to me.

Quite a lot of time left in the transfer window though so at the minute its a bit of a moot point.
If the right player becomes available this summer I dont think we'll wait.

Would Gini be happy going from one bench to another? And would Klopp go back for a former player? Both are probably a no.
