Juventus midfielder 'wants' to join Liverpool in £13m deal
Liverpool are one of a number of Premier League clubs that Adrien Rabiot would like to join this summer

Barcelona have made a new offer for Robert Lewandowski of €35m (£30m) plus €5m in add-ons but Bayern Munich are expected to turn that down.
The striker is determined to join Barcelona despite approaches from Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain and has verbally agreed a three-year deal.

Leading Bayern executives have continued publicly to point out that Lewandowski is under contract for another year and say they expect him back for pre-season training on 12 July. Last month the player declared his Bayern career “over” and said he did not believe the club would hold him against his will.

So fingers crossed Ederson spends more time on the physio's table than in between the sticks !

Manchester City have a verbal agreement to sign the goalkeeper Stefan Ortega as backup to Ederson
if Zack Steffen leaves in search of more game time. Ortega’s contract at Arminia Bielefeld expires at the end of this month and the 29-year-old German, who has also played for 1860 Munich, has made City his preferred destination.

He started all but one of Arminia’s Bundesliga games last season, missing the other because he had Covid, and played every minute for the club in the league in 2020-21.
Steffen was largely restricted to appearances for City in the domestic cups and faces a battle to be the starting goalkeeper for the US at the World Cup. He missed this month’s international matches for family reasons.

Twice I've heard this now, from a Palace fan and from someone who occassionally gets good info from LFC. That we've made an inquiry about Zaha, but won't pay over the odds due to his age, and with one year left on his contract.

Seems a Klopp-ish player, but not the most inspiring of options, nor suitable age-wise.

He's another who plays on the left isn't he? Otherwise I could see it as a cheapish way to replace Salah, if most of our money is going on someone like Bellingham.

He does definitely deserve a few years at a top club tbf.

Also, that would actually tie in with that rumour that we were going to try and sign Son before Spurs got top 4.

He's about the same age, proven forward etc.

Maybe they don't want a young Salah replacement because they want to give Kaide Gordon every chance of coming through.

Yeah plays on the left too, you can never really predict how Klopp will be thinking of setting up though, but we seem top heavy on the left and centre. Unless its:

Centre: Nunez and Jota
Left: Diaz +1 and Jota (though playing him there impacts on our balance)
Right: Salah - Elliott can play there at a push, but we've got no one else really
AM - Carvalho and Firmino?

I’d rather we were linked with Olise at Palace.

He looks to have all the raw skills and a whole load of potential for Klopp to develop.
Should have got him before Palace did. I can't see them letting him go unless for a massive fee now

I'm with those who think we might switch formation tbh. 4231 maybe. The Darwin signing makes a bit more sense in that context.

If not then I'd guess Diaz would be the next best option on the right. At least he can just outpace anyone on the outside.

Then Jota or Carvalho to fill in on the left I suppose.

He's 30 in November and his contract is up next summer. If Mane was only £35m in the same circumstances then Zaha is hardly gonna cost a fortune.

Although tbh we might as well just wait and get him for nothing next summer.

The only problem with 4-2-3-1 is that Salah is our main goal threat, and will continue to be so while he's still a Liverpool player. The 4-3-3 suits him to the ground, because the centre forward coming deeper and our flat midfield 3 means he can literally play as a right sided forward. Without the insurance of 3 central midfielders, he suddenly needs to become more winger-like, possibly having to play 10 yards deeper to cover space.

What may make more sense is a fluid 4-4-2 / 4-2-2-2 type of thing with Darwin and Salah as strikers, supported from the flanks by Diaz on the left and Elliott on the right.

Moussa Diaby is available for £50m - fastest as if not faster than Salah. He is probably more suited to a 4-2-3-1 system than Salah. The attack is then sorted for at least 3 years

Maybe, I'm not sure. I can't say I like the idea of Elliott playing there tbh, he'd be too wide and deep cut in and attack the goal on his left foot. And he's not quick enough to be a threat on the outside.

I think the team is the thing. Darwin is gonna be expected to get 20 a season, and we effectively get another attacker in the 4231 with that player in the hole. I'd therefore expect us to create more chances in general. More like we were when we had Coutinho.

If that means Salah getting 15 instead of 22 I don't mind, as long as more creativity means others pick up the slack.

I know Elliott plays out on the flanks, however he isn't terribly fast. I don't know how others feel, but i get the feeling he might do well in the middle as a CM? I know the club has been watching since at least Nov last year, 'd love to know what the scouting report said. He is very much in the style of Kante but faster. There's still over a month to go, I would like to see a CM come in at least

He may see a timeshare there (deeper forward/AMC) with Carvalho IF we shift formation.

Eriksen is on the fence in regards to signing for either Brentford or Man Utd. Bet he end up signing for Brentford again.

So he should. I know he wouldn't be playing if the medics hadn't sanctioned it, but I can't imagine the pressure involved in joining ManU now would be good for him.
