Transfer Rumours 21/22

Really?

Kane will cost a fortune unless he’s got a release clause and up until now City have made a point of not spending mega money on individual players.

For that reason to Haaland sounds the most likely. He’s young and has a reasonable release clause.

His dad was at City as well, wasn't he?

Haaland's release clause is in 12 months time so it would have to be a big offer this summer for someone to get him.

Release clauses don't matter when half the footballing world is gagging for your signature

I meant it as a counter to 'Haaland has a reasonable release clause' - means even less when people will be looking to buy him 12 months before that happens.

Atletico Madrid are reportedly stepping up their efforts to sign Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino, who is valued at around €55 million.

Eduardo Camavinga...

Anyone know much about this kid?

Same agent as Konate who says he's ready for a move to the premier league.

Quoted as be ideal replacement for Gini by some in the media.

Madrid sources suggest we are interested as well as them.

I'd be impressed if we landed him ... He's normally the kind of player you'd expect to go to Dortmund and become a stud

have you seen his vale on Transfermkt, £54m? They normally undervalue players. So the going price is going to be £80-90m?

Any club wanting to sign him this summer would have to pay double or more his release clause.
Maybe City or Chelsea would want to do that, but that also means that Haaland wants to leave this summer.
As of yet he hasnt decided anything.

Pearce has a long (aren't the all) article in the Athletic about our summer dealings. Nothing new or unexpected but here is a brief summerary of the main points. The original article can be posted if anyone wants it.

Mbappe and Haaland are a total non event for Liverpool

Jones is capable of taking over from Gini but it is felt a replacement is still needed.

Naby and Ox will stay.

Origi and Shaq are up for sale with an upgrade on Origi deemed a priority

VVD, Matip & Gomez all expected to be ready for the start of the next season though they anticipate them all suffering some minor injury niggles in the early months. We could have five senior centre halves next season. Phillips could be one of them although they anticipate plenty of interest in him in the summer. It should be Phillip's decision on where he stays as forth/fifth choice centre half or moves on

£34m for Konate would be a good deal.

Konate signing would leave Kabak still up in the air and he is playing now to impress.

Davis will probably be sold

Van de Berg and Rhys Williams will more than likely head out on loan.

Liverpool are planning for Salah to be at the club next season and view current grumblings as pushing for an enhanced deal and don't expect either Spanish club to offer the £100m+ to even tempt the club.

No decision has been made whether a replacement reserve keeper instead of Adian is needed

New contracts for Fab & VVD need to be sorted over the summer.

Elliott & Minamino will be assessed during pre season.

I posted elsewhere but I find it weird we aren't talking about new contracts for our front 3, but we aren't talking about selling them either

The whole Davies thing is super weird. I know I shouldn't give a shit but every time his name is mentioned I remember all those articles claiming how great he's been in the Championship, how pleased everyone is he's finally getting this massive unexpected break and I feel bad for the guy.

That aside, my main takeaway from that is that somehow Ox has managed to get another stay of execution. Must be for the homegrown quota because he contributes nothing else.

The takeaway from that article is that we're skint, and need to generate funds through sales.

The Kabak and Davies deals never looked like deals done from a footballing perspective, but rather cheap assets acquired with the hope of flogging them quickly for a tidy profit. That does look like it will be the plan.

Davies had a few suitors like Celtic so we'll probably try and extract something like 5-8 million for him. Kabak we could exercise our option and then immediately try and sell for 25-30 million, the way Real often used to do with their buy options. That'd probably fund the Konate purchase. Not sure I'd be super comfortable with just the one new CB next year, especially one with injury concerns like Konate.

Origi and Shaq sales will probably go towards funding a new forward.

We are definitely looking to find something useful in the middle aisle of Lidl rather than shopping in Harrods

I thought that's what Klopp had been doing for years.. shopping in the middle of lidl.

We need a centre back.. nooooo. Let's buy a striker.. it's on special offer. Buy now.

It's typical FSG if Pearce's expectations turn out to be largely accurate. Brief the press in spring about big summer spending and then spend the summer going for mid level targets unless we sell enough players to spend a few quid on a decent player. Then come autumn we're told any number of excuses about why the summer recruitment was so sparse and unambitious.
We are then reminded how we can't compete with all the mega rich clubs and how we need to go about it a different smarter way which I find to be increasingly patronising.

I think we'll be far more active this summer and spend more money than what we as fans have come to expect these last few transfer windows.

I wonder if we are looking at full-back options this summer. Neco has been underwhelming, and I think needs to go out on loan. Tsimikas has been a non-entity. Trent and Robbo have had a huge workload again, and it simply isn't sustainable to have them go on and on without quality back-up, especially given how important the FBs are for us. Milner's not played there at all anymore, probably too old to have the legs for that position.

We should really try and get an Arbeloa type handyman - someone who is comfortable playing both RB and LB, and won't demand constant playing time.

A very good option is Napoli's Albanian full-back Elseid Hysaj, who's actually out of contract this summer. He's right-footed, but plays both RB and LB very comfortably and likes getting forward. I'd be very interested in getting him if I were Edwards.

Williams, now that you mention him, good huge props for his play for Wales yesterday ... as LB!
Fans are saying he's attacking really well etc ...

Anyone watch the game who can confirm this?

I am suspecting Ben Davies is someone we are keeping on ice for Edward's mate - Eddie Howe. As soon he lands his next job, we will have a 15 million bid incoming. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the level of summer spending is contingent on Eddie Howe getting a position somewhere. I am confident there will be a bid for 50-60 million for some combination of Origi, Shaq, Davies, Rhys, Neco Williams, or Phillips incoming within a week of him getting a job.

Legend is Eddie Howe. Not a lot of people acknowledge his role in building a title and CL winning team. 40 million for Ibe, Solanke, Brad Smith and generous loan fees for Wilson. It is only fair that he kickstarts our rebuild also.

He does very well hosting interviews and web content. Given our new owner Red Bird with emphasis on monetizing fan experience, that could potentially be Ox's new role - develop and manage video content, interview players, staff etc. Become the first player/instagram influencer.

Liverpool “open to offers” for 6 players this summer – including Shaqiri & Origi

Liverpool are claimed to have made their minds up regarding Marko Grujic during his loan at Porto, while Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi are also among those up for sale.
Though there are still two months left of the current campaign, the wheels are already in motion to prepare for the next, with a host of incomings and outgoings expected.

RB Leipzig centre-back Ibrahima Konate is due to become the Reds’ first signing of the summer, but beyond that there are likely to be a number of other players brought in, too.
They will need to be financed, at least partly, by sales, and despite the financial impact of the pandemic, Liverpool will be looking to pick up fees for a number of fringe players.
According to The Athletic‘s James Pearce, among those the club will be “open to offers” for are Shaqiri and Origi, who have made 13 starts between them so far this season.

Grujic, who has struggled for starts himself at Porto this season, is also reportedly available, along with Harry Wilson, Sheyi Ojo and Ben Woodburn.
In theory, Liverpool could recoup a significant fee if they were able to sell all six of those players, but there may be the continued issue of finding buyers, exacerbated by the current situation.
A lower asking price may be required for Shaqiri, Origi and Grujic, given they have all been on the market in the past only to struggle to attract enough interest.
The same can be said of Woodburn, who suffered a number of setbacks on loan at Blackpool earlier this season, returning in January to take up duties with the under-23s.
Wilson and, in particular, Ojo may be easier to advertise, however, given their success together at Cardiff – and it could be that Ojo is in fact the first out the door if the Bluebirds look to bring him in on a long-term basis.

The 23-year-old has been a revelation in the Championship, and especially under new manager Mick McCarthy, taking up a starting spot up front to bring his tally to five goals and seven assists in 37 games so far on loan.
There are likely to be other players up for sale, too, with the likes of Loris Karius, Liam Millar, Kamil Grabara and Taiwo Awoniyi possibly made available.
Jurgen Klopp could even consider parting ways with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, while the future already does not look particularly bright for the likes of Kostas Tsimikas and Ben Davies.
Adrian will leave on the expiry of his contract, and Yasser Larouci will depart on a free as part of the academy cohort whose terms are up.
Uncertainty reigns over the future of Gini Wijnaldum, but at this point it seems he will also move on

Looks like he's heading to Celtic ... NOt sure he'll have too much money to help us out.
