Transfer Rumours 21/22

We need another DM to work with Fabs and make our defence air tight while Klopp sorts out our CBs. Somebody like Bissouma who is a natural DM.
Obvously VVD, Gomez, Matip and Konate will only be at their best sometime like 5 games into the season, meanwhile we need to avoid conceeding goals in each of those matches. Other than Fabs, Hendo and Milner there are no other DM specialist amongst our MFs to hold the fort.
Beyond the first 5 matches we still need a no nonses defensive setup to take us through the rest of the season. It's well known that this won't be a simple season, we need strong cover for our defenders so with somebody like Bissouma on board, we are not only raising our defensive performance per matchday but we have the depth in this area to take us through all competitions. We should accept that Hendo and Milner who put in their all on each matchday may not play all games in the season. The earlier we bring in a proven DM the better not only for the current season but for the future as well.
Recent tables have shown that teams that conceed the least stand a good chance of winning the league. The preseason has been great for us but despite all the defensive formations that were employed, it looks like we conceeded easily in most matches. Yes it was preseason and yes our reliable CBs are coming from long layoff and Konate is new, our focus nonetheless has been more on the CBs and not as much on the DMs. Amongst the upcoming young talents showcased during the preseason, its not clear if we have one that has the physicality and the mean to immediately deliver this role this season.

I too am in favour of a no nonces defensive setup

Oh.

I wonder what he makes of Chelsea's signing, or Utd's, or City's.

Does that mean we were in for all of them too?
How can you compare their transfers with the others you mentioned? Seems a bit significant that Klopp singles out Leicester. The interviewer didn't ask him specifically.

Has anyone considered that maybe we're selling these players in order to pay for the Konate transfer and not to sign an additional player?

Modo was right!
Fuck me what a week I've had.

Klopp pretty much just said that we bought Konate before we could afford it and then had to sell to pay for it.

Klopp agrees.

“You tell me which player we need,” he said. “I’m really interested. What type of player would you like to sign? Should he score more goals than Gini? Should he defend better than Fabinho? Be more creative than Naby, Curtis, Ox and Harvey?”

Wijnaldum’s best attribute was to be fit.

Starting to think that we actually were after Daka.
Klopp just called Leicester's transfers "fantastic".
We are doing what Arsenal are doing and repaying for the stadium. Main stand refurb cost £120m, appaz the club has only repaid £10m of that. The Anfield Road expansion will cost £60m and bring an extra £15m of income, which is either borrowed from financial lenders or paid for directly out of clubs kitty.
Over all matchday revenue after expansion is set to be close to £100m.
These owners came here admiring Arsenal's model, probably still following despite the evident failure and mediocrity

I really hope we get the "owners of year" trophy this season.

Don't discount the value Klopp brings to our recruitment team. His vision and clarity regarding the players he wants is very rare for a manager as his extensive scouting knowledge. Klopp is one of those rare managers who actually has a working knowledge of most of the talented youngsters playing across Europe. Ask him a question about say Jeremy Doku, and you know he'll have seen him play. He's gushed about the likes of Dolberg, Dembele etc. when they were like 18. He clearly enjoys watching football and doing some scouting himself.

Edwards was here during Rodgers time as well, and our recruitment at the time wasn't near as good.

I think he has a very clear vision of how he wants to play and is able to communicate the type of players he wants to the recruitment team. I also admire his commitment to finding solutions with the existing squad before looking into the transfer market. Not a coincidence that Dortmund was nailing most transfers when he was there and now we seem to be doing very well in identifying the right type of players.

Part of the reason I have been frustrated with us not spending not a lot of money this summer and past winter is that this represents our best chance of winning the league again in a long period of time. Not criticizing FSG. It is very very difficult to win the league with the way Chelsea, United, City are spending. Unless we stumble into another Klopp which is very unlikely as he is among the all-time greats and there are few of them around.

He didn't even mention Hendo [emoji1787]

We'd repaid £37.2m on the Main Stand by the end of 2019-20. We'd borrowed £108.6m to pay for it.
Don't forget we also built the extension to the training ground that was costed at £40m and, like most big capital projects, probably cost more.
So over the last 5 years or so we've spent nearly £80m on those two projects alone. Only the Main Stand will have thrown off extra cash, the training ground is a pure cost.
Not defending it as a policy, just saying that's where a lot of money has gone that would otherwise have been available for transfers (or extra loan repayments on the Main Stand).
I'd like to think Klopp has had a say in that - perhaps not on the Main Stand (but the loan repayments would be more than paid for by the extra revenue from the expansion) but I'd like to think FSG told him he could have either a new training ground or an extra player or two. They could quite easily have delayed the training ground by a year if he wanted to invest in the squad.
Same story with the Annie Road - do you want a new midfielder / striker this year or would you like to play your final season in front of 60,000 screaming fans?
Klopp has been OK with the idea that the money is invested in infrastructure that will benefit the club long-term rather than investing in a shiny player or two. In the long-term, we should all thank him for that, and it will be part of his legacy.
Insert usual moan about "Yeah, but FSG should have invested £100s of millions in the club on top" here. They didn't. They were never going to. They never are going to. And maybe their motivation for sorting the infrastructure out is to be able to sell the club for top dollar with all its long-term problems solved, and then a new owner can come in and play sugar-daddy mode on Championship Manager for real. Long-term we'll be more sustainable, and that's not a bad thing.

That actually meant a lot.

Being fit and available is a great. However, if it’s the main thing people point too maybe we should be looking for better.

Barcelona are willing to pay half of Brazil forward Philippe Coutinho's salary in an attempt to secure a loan move to Lazio for the 29-year-old

Lets say that this is true... I would think that it is a no brainer for LFC to step in and take him on loan for this summer. Braca are try every way to stiff us for £36m that they would have to pay if he played another game for them. We now how talented he is, and he already know the system

And again "If" it is to be believed he would cost us only 82.5Euros a week

It would strenghten us with a quality player that would not cost us a great deal, and give us some real quality options

Barcelona do not owe us anything do they? We sold on the debt. He’s a fucking cunt. He wouldn’t suit our style. So fuck that.

I don't like the way he pushed through his move, but without that No Allisson, No VVD. I all believe that he is so deperate to player at a culd where the supporters adored him(LFC) we would only see him trying his very best to win the manager, club and supporters back over. No suggesting that we re-sign him, only bring him back on loan for this season. City, Utd,Chelsea have all strengthened with quality player, we sould be doing the same

I agree. For 82.5 Euros a week it's a no brainer.
