Anyone know how bad his injury was?

I guess it will be Skrtel and Agger against the mancs.

I still fancy us to beat them

Few rumours going around that Kolo left Anfield on crutches. Think it's fair to say he won't be playing Sunday.

He shouldn't have been on the pitch .... likewise Gerrard. We need to protect these players if we expect them to play every PL and important cup matches this season.

Its 5 days to the game, I agree with you I wasn't expecting him to play a team as strong as he did however we do have proper rest time, getting knocked out early from the cups was damaging last season mentally as much as anything... the season was over way too early.

I think the rest aspect is somewhat over-played, It could be argued after United playing a tough game on Monday we could have been "extra" rested comparatively but i'm not so sure it works like that.

Positives from the game include scoring a good amount of goals and receiving a timely reminder to stay the fuck awake during a game and play right to the end, often important against United.

The injuries suck mind you.... I'm hoping Skrtel can reproduce his best and start his fight to get back into the team.... talent wise he is as good as the players who have been keeping him out.... I also remember him scoring a nice goal early doors last season... that would be nice... I couldn't give less of a fuck about Allen.

Well except for the fact we are now Toure-less (comfortably our best defender so far this season) for one of the most important matches of the season.
Of course it could be said I'm just being wise after the event ... except I purposely left both of them out of the team I proposed in the Pre-match thread.

What was the Ulster scamp thinking FF!! ignoring you like that!!😉

(I agree by the way... I just don't think its the end of the world.)

Its a well known fact that players past 30 are more likely to twist their ankle than younger ones - its related to going out on the pitch without his zimmer frame and NHS glasses

Edit : Why did I think it was ankle (was that Cisshoko) ....Groiny ankle or ankly groin anyway

you hate 30 year olds don't you?

Cheers Mark!

It's still not ideal though, he hasn't played for ages so he isn't even match fit. He was already short on confidence after being fucked around last season, so one game when massively unfit against two of the best strikers in the league....

Hopefully he's not out too long.

He makes you re-evaluate what you think about Agger and Skrtel doesn't he ?

He's been great so far. I wouldn't be against giving the Skrtel & Agger partnership another go, but we certainly miss the assurance at the back that players like Hyypia, Carra then Toure have given us.

Not to mention having a legit shot stopper like Mignolet

He looks susceptible to crosses though, I know we do as a team and I know he's getting used to the way we play, but I hope it's not an issue that teams will start to exploit. He's nowhere near as commanding as Reina, but he's a vast improvement in terms of shot stopping.

We'll beat United without Toure, he's a decent CB who has had a good start to his LFC career but his presence, or lack of, in our back 4 won't affect us too much*.

*This is assuming Skrtel is fit, if he's not....................PANIC!!!

Skrtel has been back in training for a few days according to Rodgers, so he'll be fine.
After Utd we got 2 weeks of before the next game aswell.

Fingers crossed Kolo's injury isn't too bad.

Never believed he'd win me over so fast. We do need another CB though, hopefully we'll wrap up Sakho soon(even though I have no idea how good he'll be).

I don't get why people weren't expecting Toure and Gerrard to play. This thing of fielding a weakened side it bollocks. There was 5 days between both games. You should field a strong team, kill the game off, and then substitute whoever might need a rest. I don't blame Rodgers for any of this. It was just unfortunate how it panned out.

Simples. See ... Kolo Toure injured ... in extra time !

He could just as easily have limped out of the manc game. These things happen. Maddening, yes, but they do. There's a limit to how much managers can control these things. Here's hoping we get the same stroke of luck that we got when Souey rushed out and bought Rob Jones two days before playing the mancs and threw him straight in the side!
