They're 4th in La Liga Neets. They won't sell til the summer.

And neither should we. End of story.

We're probably biding for 3-4 strikers anyway if Torres is leaving, and a couple of midfielders.

Adam and Young and a striker if Torres leave.

He is a tough one to replace.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

This is why running around desperately trying to sign a replacement is ridiculous.

Inform Chelsea and everyone else that Torres is going nowhere till the summer.

Then we have time to plan for his departure (although we probably should've been doing that already).

Indeed. Anyone who needs to be baby-sat by their captain to avoid behaving like a cock is a bit of a concern.

He certainly has promise, but he needs to prove it for more than 6 months to justify that kind of pricetag.

I actually checked this morning and was convinced they were 6th. I need more sleep than I'm getting.

Right, let's get the muscle-man/lion.

Whoever we try to buy to replace him we will end up paying extra as that team will have NO time to replace their man....

Llorente vs Carroll at roughly the same money is a no-brainer.

Exactly

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Fucking hell, it's a bit hypocritical that Carrol is getting slagged as a bit of a cock that needs babysitting, when nearly everybody on here's favourite football scally was not much different at that age.

Getting slagged off from my side on the basis that he has done precisely fuck-all in his career of any note whatsoever, apart from show some signs of encouragment at the beginning of this season, and then get arrested and injured.

I wasn't slagging him off. I was merely saying that £30m for a player who has only performed at his current level for 6 months AND needs to be babysat by his captain off the field, is probably a bit steep.

And I would agree with others that Llorente would represent better value for money.

True. Carroll might be a good buy. He needs to sober up and to put his act together.

However potential stars who needs to sober up and put their act together is supposed to cost 4-5 mill pounds, not 30 mill pounds.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

All these names getting lashed around, you have to ask yourselves this in our current position who likely to come to Liverpool, who would see it as a significant step up?
Spurs who look a lot more like it than us at the moment and the big advantage of being in London could not lure most of them.
Andy Carrol is the most realistic and in some ways the best option, he is a beast and still only 22. Anyone we but now will attract a premium.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

I've convinced myself that Carroll is worth 30m by remembering that we bought Robbie Keane for 20m.

Football is officially fucking insane.
