All these names getting lashed around, you have to ask yourselves this in our current position who likely to come to Liverpool, who would see it as a significant step up?
Spurs who look a lot more like it than us at the moment and the big advantage of being in London could not lure most of them.
Andy Carrol is the most realistic and in some ways the best option, he is a beast and still only 22. Anyone we but now will attract a premium.

As always, fair point. He can lose the pony tail though.

Isn't his Capt Barton?
If so that's the problem right there.

Sorry, I don't agree. He was barely getting a look in for Spain, and struggling to get 15 goals for Atleti.

We took a big gamble, it paid off handsomely.

I think it was Nolan who was looking after him. And they were then caught doing drugs and whores together, haha.

Luis Suarez, for one.

Why is there this belief that becaus we've fallen we smehow now have to buy decent players at grossly indecent prices?

We are stil Liverpool, and we should be able to attract quality talent at good prices.

The fact that we don't indicates our lack of scouting and negotiating talent, not our position in the League.

I agree with Sunny the pony tail must go.
He is strong powerful with an eye for goal, he gives defenders a torrid time, it's probably and exaggeration to compare him to Drogba at the moment, but with a nippy lad like Suarez buzzing in and around the box, I think he could be very effective.
If Bent went for £24m, I don't think £30 is that far out of bed for Carrol.
I don't mind lads with a bit of an attitude to be honest and I think if anyone could manage him, it's Kenny and Carra

I can't believe you dared to mention The Answer in the same sentence as him

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Erm, where did you read that Carroll and Nolan were *caught* doing drugs and whores ?

Got a feeling they wouldn't be playing footie (apart from FIFA) for a long fucking time.

It was a Newcastle supporting friend who told me. I'm not sure if they were officially caught though.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Intriguing developments at Newcastle. Manager Alan Pardew was due to hold his pre-match press conference ahead of Wednesday's trip to Fulham at the club's training headquarters at 1400 GMT. This has now been put back to 1530 GMT and will take place at St James' Park. Make of that what you will.

Suarez came from a very unfashionable Dutch League and it was step up for him.
I think the "we are liverpool " thing is a figment of our own minds Avvy , the reality is something very different and exactly why we have 145 pages of our top striker going, who was preceded by our top defensive midfielder, who was preceded by our most creative midfielder........there is a bit of a trend

And those two midfielders were replaced by Lucas and Poulsen eventually.....

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Why would they push the Press conference back by 90 minutes.

I suppose they wouldnt have one to say they are selling X or Y.

So they must be signing a Z?

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

I didn't give fact, I asked a question.

The only one to really answer your tax question is Ross as he seems to be about the only who reads up on this kinda stuff.

and blaaa

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

it's good to see we are going for younger players rather than going for over the hill established players.
