Torres gone. Scum gone to more scum

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

£30m for andy carroll. insanity. it'd be insane without his many, many off-field problems. in reality, it's almost unprcedentedly manic.

i'd much rather we took a deep breath and struggled on to the summer with just suarez then take this sort of gamble.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

30 Million is world class player money, Carroll isn't that (yet) and may never be that.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

This is what I don't understand IF we are only going to sell for the price we want for him regardless of whether he is unhappy or not then why the fuck hasn't it happened already?? it's one o'clock on the last day of the transfer window for fucks sake.... surely it cant happen now... its just too big a transfer to go through this fucking late!

fuck it i'm going for a lie down somewhere dark...

I agree with Sunny the pony tail must go.
He is strong powerful with an eye for goal, he gives defenders a torrid time, it's probably and exaggeration to compare him to Drogba at the moment, but with a nippy lad like Suarez buzzing in and around the box, I think he could be very effective.
If Bent went for £24m, I don't think £30 is that far out of bed for Carrol.
I don't mind lads with a bit of an attitude to be honest and I think if anyone could manage him, it's Kenny and Carra

[/quote]At 22 Didier Drogba was scoring one in six at Le Mans. He hadnt even been noticed by anyone.

I dont understand what the issue is with him being a lad, we can whup that out of him.
Hes a big unit and gets goals. I'd like him a lot.
Also its 25m we offered so i dont know why everyone is saying 30m.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Its mad times, but as Run DMC said , it's just the way it is.

Carrol and Suarez as opposed to Torres (when fit) and N'gog or Dirk , does sound a pretty good upgrade to me.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

Furthermore, is Carroll not injured at the moment to the extent that he wouldnt pass a medical?

As such, we wouldnt get insurance on him.... so the papers are saying were prepared to spending 30m on an uninsured crock with off-field issues....

Doesn't really add-up.

it means he's thick and feckless and apparently unafraid of wasting his talent. i'd say that's, y'know, relevant.

It depends what the injury is and if it is seen as a long term issue, insurers could refuse indemnity for that particular aspect I suppose.

It actually reminds me of an issue I thought of yesterday. Will Torres pass a medical, give his issues that seem to be recurring

Ha!

Im pretty sure the medical doesnt actually involve tackling, and the subsequent recovery time for the resulting injury (explaining the Kewell, Aquilani and Aurelio signings).

However it MUST involve running, so ive no idea how Joe Cole made it through... perhaps he did roly-polys and they assumed it was a unique running style and forgot to hit start on the stop-watch

I'm not so sure mate, they know the player can run. I assumed it was to make sure their heart was working etc and no abnormalities and then to look at pervious injuries and test muscles etc rather than getting them to do a circuit session.
Might be wrong

Oh yes.

And sold them at a loss.

And did it repeatedly.

WHich results in 'selling to buy'.

I think Carroll is a good player; but represents a far FAR bigger risk than someone whom we know is quality.

And despite how far we've fallen, I still REFUSE to believe that the BEST player we can ever get at 30 odd million is Andy fucking Carroll.

Re: Torres - Chelsea 35mil Bid turned down

"There is as good a chance of us getting someone else in as there is someone going out. The owners have been fantastically supportive.

"There is money available if we want to bring someone else in. The money is there. Their support has been unbelievable.

"It's not a PR exercise either, it's a real determination from them to step forward and move Liverpool Football Club forwards and upwards.

"We're going to look after ourselves first and foremost. Is that not the same in any business? If someone's going to go you've got to have a replacement."
