I can't see the top six as it stands any different from when the season ends to be honest, not saying we can't throw the chavs off, below the scum in 7th is Everton I just can't see them pushing anyone else it sounds boring but as long we keep winning and Man U finish 5th.,
In Klopp we trust

Top 6 is set... as is mid table...as is the bottom 3.

Chelsea may have the title secured as early as next month (not officially but you know what I mean)

Are you saying they will finish in the current order? Obviously we're going to overhaul the chavs. I reckon City will be in the top 3 but then it's not quite so clear. A battle between Arsenal and Utd for 4th would be nice to see if Spurs do fall away.

United once gave away an 8 point lead with 4 weeks to go - and you want to give it to Chelsea now ? Fuck off.

If we can get through Jan winning all our games we will have a huge shot at it.

I think Utd could well sneak 4th or 5th

Like I said earlier, the results in January will pretty much determine the league winner.
We have to cut their 6 point lead to 3 this month.

No it won't and no we don't. The PL doesn't finish end of January .... do you remember City catching United when it was all over .... 8 or 9 pts ahead with a handful of weeks to go to the end of the season ?

Yeah I do, but I'm also considering the form Chelsea are in and the fact that they're not playing in any European competition.
Didn't we throw away the league in January during Rafa's tenure?

Chelsea won't keep winning matches and 49 pts from the first half is a record. If they go on to break the record well done .. however if they don't then that's a lot of ground they will have lost. One injury (e.g. to Costa) could make it really tough for them since they rely quite heavily on one person for their goals.

There are 6 teams involved in this and it's likely they will all drop some points to one or more of the others (see the table I posted). This month isn't going to decide anything - but could make it a hell of a lot tougher .. or closer.

When has the league ever been won in January? Have anyone ever recieved the throphy early February? Thats a fact.
When has a team gone on a 13 match win streak. I'd say once or maybe twice ( not sure if they equalled or surpassed the record)
A rested Chelsea team is a dangerous team.
I really hope I'm wrong but, if we finish this month still 6 points behind them, I really don't see us winning it.

Have to agree - it looks like only the likes of United, City, Spurs, Arsenal can actually do something to stop that lot (and us of course). The only other hope is a desperate team under threat of relegation. But other aspects to this will be that the other teams will study carefully how to get at their back line - I think if you attack them with crosses then there is a chance you can get at them. At the moment they are playing so defensive the other teams lack the talent to break them down through the middle.

Another aspect is that we have to continue winning and who knows how long that will last? Especially with our injury record and Mané missing.

I trust Klopp will deal with the Mane situation - I think it is now that he will start making use of Sturridge more. We also have Coutinho to come back into the side so we may be more creative up front on his return. But the worry is us having to keep winning - it is relentless this season as nobody is dropping points. If all that happens is that we or they lose to fellow title rivals then we really cannot lose to the likes of those outside the title winning zone. if we do then the title race is over and done unless Chelsea have a brain fart and do the same.

Our only real hope for Chelsea losing ground is that a couple of the tougher opponents they face in January (ourselves included) beat them and knock their confidence, other than that you're going to need a serious injury to Costa or Hazard to have a chance of catching them.

Beat Sunderland, hope Spurs don't Spurs it against Chelsea and then beat them ourselves later on in January. Long way to go yet but have to keep the pressure up. We could just as easily end January in 5th as we could in 1st.

In fear of sounding like Klopp, but;
13 games won in a row is obviously insanely good form by the Chavs. Does that mean they'll automatically win the next 19 games? No. Bans, injuries, luck, form and unpredictable events during games etc means everything can happen. It obviously makes them favourites come the end of the season but they havent won it in January.

Every game they win brings them closer to the end of the run, that's how I look at it. No way they can keep it going all season. ( I hope)

Their next 5 is
Spurs
Leicester
Hull
Liverpool
Arsenal

Ita a tough run for them now.
They have had a very easy Christmas but lets see what happens now.

Yup, surely players like Moses will have a dip in form. Our problem is going to be keeping up with them until it happens

Did you post on here before? Possibly under the username Milner? Same avatar.

After sunderland we have a United away, they have Hull after Spurs. Tough little run we have ourselves. Hopefully Spurs will take pints off them and then we do. United away will be tough as always.

Every game they win brings them closer to the title. As long as they are at least equalling our results then the number of opportunities that we have to catch them gets smaller.

I'd agree that if we haven't eaten into their lead by the end of Jan then in all likelihood they will win it. This is the period where fixture pile up and players get leggy, if they are going to slip it's over the next couple of weeks.

Hmmmm hello and welcome - A rather beguiling first post. Can you explain 'Spurs don't Spurs it against Chelsea'? Cheers flower. 🙂

I was waiting for Leicester to fall over each week ,last season. It never happened so who knows how much longer Chelsea can remain on this run
