Tony Evans webchat...

Thanks for the work posting the tweets btw, @Buddha

Not sure how good this Evans guy is (LFCZA describes him as the most pessimistic journo) but it's decent pastime reading on a day without football. Cheers! 🙂

He's well down the reliability list. His connections aren't anything like as good as they were (for example he's the one who came up with the "story" that the Chinese Govt.were going to buy us, hence some of the posts above) and he sometimes seems to hold that against the club.

You're right though - some interesting stuff there all the same. Thanks Buddha.

Fuck me, that's not exactly positive, lets hope he's wrong.
Lucas and Agger out/Moreno not coming in can all be seen as positive depending which way you look at it, but no hope on Sanchez/Shaqiri, club thinking Migs is bollocks, playing Sturridge on his jack and not signing another quality striker - all bad news.

LFCZA @LFCZA · 59m Evans: " If they can get anyone better they will" #Mignolet #LFC 2/2

LFCZA @LFCZA · 1h Evans: "No one at Anfield is convinced by #Mingolet.. Doesn't talk, doesn't come for crosses, doesn't sweep." 1/2 #LFC #Mignolet

Well if they knew that then why the heck did they buy him? Doesn't talk. Doesn't come for crosses. They're not exactly things that you only notice after signing someone. Evans is so full of shite.

I cant stand Tony Evans, he's a miserable arse, and I'm sure he puts his own opinions across as if its info he's heard from the club, read the Mignolet comments. He's had a lemon stuck up his arse ever since we got rid of Kenny.

Be

Mmmm, because he's shit ?
Except he isn't though, is he?

Like how we play a brand new back line with a new keeper, and expect him to dominate.

He's an excellent shot stopper and I have no doubt now he's got the uncomfortable first season out the way, we'll see him improve

Mignolet's one of the best shot-stoppers in the league though. Improving on him isn't going to be that easy.

Yes - one of. But way down there in other key areas such as Aerial (crosses/ corners etc) and Commanding the defense.

Wait, is Markovic even that good? Suarez may have not been world class but he still accomplished quite a lot before coming to LFC.

He does need to improve in those areas, but he's far from being the only one. How many keepers are there (a) whose all-round game is better and (b) whom we could actually buy?

Also besides Football Manager why in the world does anyone think Reus would come to LFC? He is Dortmund's best player and they just lost Lewandoski to Bayern. Why would they sell Reus? Not to mention when was the last time a top german player came to England to play in the premier league?

His shot stopping didn't stop him dropping 4/5 easily savable clangers either last season, add that to all the other stuff that hes average at best at you have a dodgy keeper, i'd be well pleased if we nipped it in the bud right now and went and got Begovic, its nuts that hes still at Stoke.

Tony Evans is so full of shit. That webchat is a chat with Evans and his opinions. He knows fuck all.
I know he's a red but he comes across as the most bitter cunt out there.
Full of himself and a massive dickhead.

I wouldnt take notice of anything he says unless it starts with Tony Barrett told me.

This isn't something that can't be coached into him though, unlike reactions. Surely when/when not to come for crosses and how to handle them can be managed by a better GK coach than that seemingly piece of shite we have now. being vocal can certainly be drilled into him.

He's decent enough and I'd have been more or less as happy to get him as I was with Mignolet, but no more so. He's better than Mignolet in the air, but that's not where most attacks come from in top-level football, and Mignolet made some saves last season that Begovic wouldn't have reached. The fact that none of the top clubs have come in for him suggests they see him in that light too.

Release Clause. Seems all Dortmund players have them, and they are reachable numbers.

yeah not convinced with mingolet myself . As everyone says his shot stopping is amazing but he is poor in lots of other areas . So it becomes a question of whether his shot stopping outweighs his other issues and mistakes . As the season went on it didn't for me . He's exactly as my sunderland supporting mates said he would be and why they were more than happy with the deal they got .

Mignolet will never be a really decent GK. If he stays it's because we have more urgent priorities. He's no more than a stop-gap.

What a fucking disaster holding onto Reina's proven to be, btw. Lost £20m in value in about 3 years. We need to be far more ruthless about selling when good opportunities come up, in future.

Shot stopping is the ONLY thing he's good at. Pretty average distribution with his feet, lacks leadership and flaps at crosses. We need our keeper to be a sweeper as well, we need better than him. You can tell our defense has no confidence in mignolet whatsover and that just makes us more vulnerable at the back.

Begovic is a lot better keeper than Mig, honestly he really is, that's not really saying much though, hes a massive commanding presence in goal and an excellent shot stopper.

Find it mad that Wenger hasn't bought him but then again its Wenger, he doesn't ever seem to sort their real issues out, United and Chelsea are sorted and by all accounts he was off to City to replace Hart if Mancini hadn't have been sacked.
