Lloris was a right liability when he first joined the league, he was always a superb shot stopper, but his rushing out would have made bravo blush, he seems to have cut those mistakes out now with time and experience, and he's indeed a top top goalkeeper. When they fail to make the top 4 this season, City would be made not to throw the bank at him, he's perfect for them.
Suarez made him look like a fool a few times.

What I really don't get and Leo touched upon this in the above are their priorities as a club. Why rest a trio of their key players when you're facing elimination from the Champions League group stages - I would be livid if our manager rested say Matip, Coutinho and Clyne instead of younger more unproven players in such a vital game (especially if we then lost easily). Even more so if the argue were to keep them fresh for a league game where their main quest is to secure Champions League football next season.

Don't get me wrong, from what I've seen Eriksen, Walker, Vertonghen etc. hasn't exactly set the world on fire this season, they've been mostly poor to average - and same goes for Dele, Dembele, Lamela and Son, but it still doesn't make any sense to me. And newcomers in Janssen and Sissoko (I thought he would've been a good buy actually) has looked completely League One standard all Season. (Btw, what is it with Spurs and their 'talent' for buying strikers - if it wasn't for their homegrown Kane they'd be way down the table watching Janssen, Soldado etc. firing blanks)

Anyway, them out of the ChL is mainly on Pochettino as I see it, could also harm them in the league, to our advantage.

Oh and Lloris is probably the best keeper in the world right now.. the fact Spurs didn't lose with a greater margin last night was only down to him.

He's always been a "sweeper-keeper" type; very quick off his line, but he wasn't helped by the absurdly high-line that AVB tried to get them to play when he was there.

I went to that White Hart Lane demolition job - even Flanno scored - and Lloris was totally exposed all game. All Liverpool had to do was gently chip a ball over the advanced defence, allow Suarez or Sterling or whoever to run onto it in about 40 yards of space, and poor old Lloris was stranded.

It was most enjoyable.

He's absolutely brilliant to be fair, top 3 in world for me.

Pochettino inherited their two best players in Lloris and Kane (though didn't play the latter for a good while, preferring a non-scoring Soldado) and has failed, for me, to add enough quality around them (bar Ali).

For all the media hype around Pochettino, his team has won nothing and seems to have a habit of coming up well short or losing their heads when the pressure is on. He's also fashioned possibly the most snidey team currently in the Premier league. a right bunch of diving, fouling, whining cynical cunts.

I really hope they get third in their group and fall into the Europa League, impacting on a subsequently mediocre league campaign.

Think they're also struggeling a bit this season in terms of goals for just that reason (quality).
They sold Chadli who was their second top scorer without adding any goals. Janssen and Sissoko look like two awful signings at the moment. Janssen is young though so he could obviously come good.
Alli hasnt looked like himself either and doesnt look anything special this season.

Their CL campaign has been very enjoyable.

Dele and Eriksen both well below par and as their most creative outlets this has hurt them. Son has chipped in with goals and assists but is very hit and miss. Lamela, still not sure what to make of him. Is he good? Or just a greedy, nasty player with a few tricks up his sleeve? I am leaning towards the latter.

Only concern from our perspective is if/when they find their feet again, because they are still sitting pretty comfortable in the table despite not having reached anywhere near the level of last season. It seems albeit to a lesser extent than Leicester that they also struggle with some type of the blues because of last season. It certainly has effected them in Europe but not so much in the league. So far.

Janssen just seems to have really slow feet, like he's wearing boots three sizes too big.

As for Sissoko, he's..."enigmatic" would be the most polite term. Sometimes he can look unstoppable, at others he looks like a Sunday league player.

There's a few players not really performing at a high enough level. And they miss Dembele when he isn't playing.

I actually think it has hurt them a bit to accommodate Wanyama too. Him and Dembele together are too pedestrian and are also lacking creativity. That Winks fella however looks like he could be another potential great player for them..

Wanyama has looked brilliant in some games, and very poor in others. It's weird.

At some point they'll have to stop winning games without dodgy penalties aswell and get the deserved draws/losses they are due.

Pedestrian isnt a word id use to describe Dembele.

The bloke is a fucking freight train when hes on the ball.

I agree I was more referring to their overall game plan, when they both are in there (and sometimes with Dier too) they seem to lack the vision and dynamics of last season.

Dembele is quite a wonderful player. I like Wanyama too. They've just not looked that good together.

Yeah that is quite an amount of calls that have gone their way already, last nights pen (and the one against West Ham at least) seemed legit though.

The thing is, NOT ONE media outlet calls them out on their repeated diving, general play-acting, ref harassing and dodgy pens. Not one.

So now there's a pro-Spurs media conspiracy?
No, don't be a twat.

They (and Poch) are simply seen a positive light right now as some sort of symbol of progressive tactics - the cynical stuff is somewhat unconsciously filtered out.

It's not a "conspiracy", they're benefiting from a positive projection.

Pochettino said the Dortmund games last season and the Monaco game are of a higher CL level. Yet for both games he put out a weaker squad.

I have no idea what's the deal. You fight the whole season to get into the CL to play the big games. But when you get there you chickened out of those exact games. Truly small-timed. I'm not sure why he's not given more stick for his retarded tinkerings.

Add to that Alderweired was talking about repeating the A.Madrid success in the CL this season with Spurs just few months ago. Not sure what he must be thinking now.

Oh and fuck Spurs. White Hart Lane is truly becoming a Nou Camp wannabe with the constant diving, whining and self entitlement they think they deserve. 2nd most hated team of the league for me.

What Spurs do have going for them is their back 5: Lloris, Alderweireld-Vertonghen-Walker-Rose - it's possibly the best defensive line in the league (Walker is the only slightly weak link, but he does add a lot in attack). This is why there were able to win so many games 1:0. Alderweireld's injury has hurt them badly because Dier is nowhere near as good as a defender.

That Iranian dude we were linked with a month ago just scored for Rostov against Munich.
Showing great composure with an excellent finish.
Looks a real talent.

Indeed. He found his position when they moved him forward into DM, but he falls well short of that level when he returns to the back four.

Overall, good though their defence looks, Lloris has saved them in more than one of the games I've seen and they haven't convinced me with their attacking options in Kane's absence either - Son's form has been variable and I'm not convinced Janssen's good enough for a team that wants to challenge for the title. I'm not writing them off just yet, but for me they're definitely behind us, Citeh and the Chavs at the moment.

And Arsenal.

Barcelona are looking pretty average against Celtic.

I have to say that without Iniesta in midfield the supporting cast for the attack is nothing to write home about.

I wonder if they regret wasting so much money on the likes of Turan et al now.
