I think my biggest issue with FSG, aside from all the frugality and indecisiveness in the transfer market, is this continued unwillingness to bring in a proper experienced director of football with a proven track record. You'd think this was the most important role in the club. Were they put off for life after Commolli? I would have gone out an paid an absolute premium for the right man.

It's fairly simple - get the right man in with the right vision 10 year vision and squad building ability - from playing style to recruitment. Then we don't have to go through a rebuild and shift every time we inevitably change managers every 3 years or so. Now with each manager that comes in, the club's fortunes are completely and utterly in the hands of the manager, from recruitment to playing. They should have, in hindsight, told Rodgers to piss off with his demands to not work under a DOF.

Yes, this has clearly been their biggest weakness through the years. I suspect they like are afraid of stepping outside their comfort zone and keep appointing English-speaking nerdy stats-obsessed sycophants rather than someone with loads of real football experience (and strong opinions that usually go with that experience) who perhaps might expose their lack of knowledge of the game.

In a market where Siggurdsson would smash our transfer record if we bought him er have to take a step back as well. We need improvements, but I am not sure Siggurdson would have added more than depth to out squad. We can't buy average quality just to buy at this stage.
