Tick Tock..

I wonder if we'll move for Draxler now he's unwanted at PSG after six months. I think that's a possibility, although he'd have to take a wage cut.

I think it's a mixture of Klopp being overly stubborn and Edward's being inexperienced has led us to this point.

It's why I'm always sceptical when people say CL qualification is massively important and better than winning trophies. It's benefits are frequently overstated. It's gotten us nowhere this window.

They are all players we signed in the last two weeks of the summer transfer window over the last 10 years, apart from maybe Bellamy it's a grim list..

I'd be willing to bet the ratio of good to bad deals there is probably the same as the deals we do in the rest of the year.

With probably the exception of Meireles as on the face of it the other signings owl face made where horrendous

Meireles and Bellamy were fucking great.
I dont really see the point.
Its like saying January is the best month to sign players because we got Skrtel Agger and Suarez.

Its a fairly drab list representative of a fairly drab club signing fairly drab players 99% of the time.

I'd categorise them as follows:

Cheap prospects:
Allan
Insua
Suso
Yesil

Two of which have gone onto have top flight careers

Cheap stopgaps:
Kyrgiakos
Cissokho

Decent:
Riera
Bellamy
Meireles

The other half are bad signings. The ones above all have some justification.

And Sakho was a marquee signing - whatever difference that makes

We are a bit like this, only want the fittest bird in the club. But you can put your house on us scrambling as fuck at ten to three in the morning.

Reality is that we've gone into the season worse off. The addition of Salah is a plus, but we have failed to address our defensive problems and our best player is sitting it out. Without Coutinho, that midfield 3 is pretty dogshit.

You'd think Edwards would have come out all guns blazing in his first big opportunity to show he's some kind of mastermind. Instead, we've embarrassed ourselves when, after securing top 4, we had the opportunity to make a real statement of intent.

Ultimately, its clear that the owners still don't have a fucking clue about running a football club.

I think if we don't add some considerably good players this summer things are going to turn against the owners. The 'internet warriors' will be mobilising.

It strikes me that the owners have done a pretty good job of convincing people that they're prepared to splash the cash, without actually spending anything. If I wanted to convince an army of fans that I've got loads of cash to spend when I've no intention of spending it, I might bid vast sums of money for players who are unattainable. It's a perfect cover story and plays very nicely into the 'not settling for second or third choices' narrative. If you ask me, we are run by evil geniuses, who are keeping us just successful enough to reap the benefits.

They're gonna announce rail seating, a new contract for Mane, and a free mighty red bumper sticker for everyone on 31st aug

Guys

I think my point has been proved - the one I made last year about the lack of quality players around the world now. It really is true, and does it not strike you guys that one of our biggest targets - that player from Southampton - happens to play in our league ? - in the past we would pay that sort of money from some other top league, but not this time. When Klopp asked that question "how do you improve the defense ...blah blah" - I was thinking - I don't really know what defender would actually stand out that much for us to justify a purchase and guarantee success. There are just not those players out there now to guarantee us anything great - look at Pogba ? - 90M last year he cost - if you said to me like 5-10 years ago we spend 90M on a player I would expect no bedding in time - i would expect instant fucking results.

It's a joke - and I think most managers around the world are not willing to spend on unknown quantities - what I am certain of though is:-

1) We need more players in key positions
2) The only player I would take in a heart-beat if he was available and wanted to come to us is - Luis Suarez

All these other players that keep getting mentioned - I don't really give a shit - coz unlike the past I cannot tell if a player is gonna make it even at £50M. Andy Carrol has damaged me for life.

I think we might be ok until January, when the wheels came off the players last year (fatigue) but.... we do have more games now.

Tick tock you don't stop, to the heart..tick tock you don't stop..oooooohh I wanna fuck you up....

You know what FSG should have done a year ago? Recruit Ralf Rangnick as our DOF! Now we would have had Keita, and possibly Timo Werner and Forsberg, he would have told Barca in no uncertain terms to fuck off in regards to Coutinho (and told Coutinho to stop trying to feed his village) and by all accounts him and Klopp have a similar view of football and taste in players, so they would have worked well as a team. We missed an opportunity here...

I think my biggest issue with FSG, aside from all the frugality and indecisiveness in the transfer market, is this continued unwillingness to bring in a proper experienced director of football with a proven track record. You'd think this was the most important role in the club. Were they put off for life after Commolli? I would have gone out an paid an absolute premium for the right man.

It's fairly simple - get the right man in with the right vision 10 year vision and squad building ability - from playing style to recruitment. Then we don't have to go through a rebuild and shift every time we inevitably change managers every 3 years or so. Now with each manager that comes in, the club's fortunes are completely and utterly in the hands of the manager, from recruitment to playing. They should have, in hindsight, told Rodgers to piss off with his demands to not work under a DOF.
