I don't want Crouch back. If he wasn't happy to be Torres understudy 2 years ago, why would he want to do it now?
It wasn't that so much as the fact that, when Torres was out injured or away with Spain, Crouchy still didn't get picked despite the fact that his goals-to-games ratio for us was about 1 in 2, way better than anybody who got picked ahead of him and by some distance the best in his club career. If he were convinced that he'd get a fair crack of the whip from Roy, I think he'd seriously consider coming back.
Actually he played 85 games for us scoring 22 goals. How is that 1 goal every 2 games? its actually close to 1 in 4 which is PRETTY SHIT

Arda Turan, which many of us wanted to see in a red shirt, is on his way to AC Milan.

Liverpool defender Philipp Degen has joined German side VfB Stuttgart on loan for the 2010-11 season.

The Swiss international, 28, was signed on a free transfer by ex-Reds boss Rafael Benitez in 2008 but played only seven times for the Anfield club.

The former Borussia Dortmund full-back played under current VfB Stuttgart boss Christian Gross at Basel.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge and the wonderful VfB fans," Degen told Liverpool's website.

"I really want to make use of my chance. It's fantastic to be working together with Christian Gross again. I had a very successful time with him in Basel."

Gross said: "I know Philipp very well and rate him highly both as a football player and as a person.

"He is a very athletic and fast player, who often looks to push forward. Philipp wants to take his chance at VfB."

Is it only me, or does that piece read as one 'I have no clue what the fuck' sentence after another?

"Liverpool sold Crouch to Portsmouth two years ago for £8m and they've been regretting it ever since. " - No, we sold him to Spurs idiot. And Crouch left b/c he wanted 1st team appearances, which he wasn't getting in Rafa's 4-2-3-1 formation.
Err .. he's right. We sold to Pompey.

Edit - sorry, already pointed out above.

Well, you don't have to translate it to figure out that it's Arda to Milan 14 mill euros do you now ole chum?? 😉

As I said in the Crouch thread, Elisha Scott has said that Crouch and Poulsen are done deals.

i can completely believe it. we seem to have a well greased transfer line in place with spurs. fucking depressing signings. wanted turan and everyone reckons poulsen is shite. when everyone says someone's shite, they normally are.
I have never seen one tiny bit of evidence we were ever (under any manager) interested in Turan. He's a Lavezzi, Figueroa, Remy etc.
A name someone throws out in the paper and then suddenly it snowballs and hes on the verge of signing.
Its annoying as hell.

It didn't help that the player himself expressed an interest in joining us on numerous occasions.

Anyways, Crouch and Poulsen aren't particularly exciting signings. Poop.
Aye, but i always think its the agents atributing quotes to their players.
You can tell when it feels like it might be a real link (crouch, poulsen, bridge etc) because the players and agents 'USUALLY' say fuck all. Its normally media reporting that escalates the link.

I would have loved Turan here, but the latest stories about him have been rehased old articles from Rafas interest earlier.

Roy have probably never even given him a thought. After we signed Cole, we pretty much got the same type of player, and even better.

Oh, my bad then Oncy. I thought Rafa wanted him. Maybe the player was doing all the talking then, he certainly did enough of that.
I dont think so mate. Its one of those player instigated things that the fans took and ran with because in fact he is a tidy player (he and Arshavin were my players of Euro 2008) but the fact is i dont think for a second we were ever interested in signing him.
As i said ditto Remy, Lavezzi, Figueroa and about 50 other links you can smell as bullshit as soon as you hear them.

Lavezzi and Remy certainly were bullshit. Should have smelled a rat when it was revealed that they have the same agent. We all fell for it twice, two years running...

I think he has been yeah, I think he's a mate of Gerrard or something.
Sigh.

I don't want Crouch back, in all honesty.

As for Poulsen, lots of people wiser on me have said he's shit.

NOt liking this.

Everton ahead of Spurs, Liverpool for Sporting Gijon defender Jose Rangel

Sporting Gijon defender Jose Rangel is in the sights of Everton.

The Daily Mail says according to reports in Spain the highly-rated left-back is expected to be sacrificed by his club Sporting Gijon who have financial problems.

Rangel, 20, has a £15m release clause in his contract and is tied to the club until 2014, but he is understood to be avaialable for just £3m.

The Spanish youth international has reportedly been offered to Tottenham, Liverpool and Wigan, but Everton are the frontrunners to land his signature.

Massimo Moratti Admits Inter Lack The Financial Resources To Sign Liverpool Midfielder Javier Mascherano

Inter president Massimo Moratti has admitted it is unlikely that the Champions League holders will sign Argentina international Javier Mascherano from English titans Liverpool this summer.

The Nerazzurri are continually being linked with a move for the holding midfielder, but Moratti has stated that Inter lack the financial resources to meet Liverpool's hefty demands.

"At this moment, we're unable to make any transfers of this magnitude," said Moratti in reference to Liverpool's hefty asking price in an interview with Corriere dello Sport. "We can't make any big transfers until we've sold someone."

Brazilian defender Maicon was continually being linked with a move to Real Madrid in the past couple of months, but Moratti confirmed earlier on Monday that the full-back is going nowhere.
However, striker Mario Balotelli appears to be on his way out of the club and could be sold to Manchester City later this week.

It's not yet certain though whether Inter will re-ignite their interest in the 26-year-old Mascherano once they have cashed in on Balotelli.
