Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has been tipped to secure the signing of former England international Wayne Bridge in the coming days with sports bookmakers slashing odds on the former Chelsea star arriving at Anfield during the summer transfer window.

Bridge is just one of a number of City stars who look set to face the chop at the Eastlands stadium, with Craig Bellamy, Stephen Ireland, Roque Santa Cruz, Nedum Onouha, and Shaun Wright-Phillips all fighting for their futures under manager Roberto Mancini.

Mancini swooped to sign Serbian international Aleksander Kolarov from Lazio , with the 24-year-old left back expected to start for City next season. Mancini has already signed David Silva, Yaya Toure and Jerome Boateng this summer, with Kolarov's arrival increasing his spending to approximately £75million since the end of last season.

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson is looking to strengthen his Anfield squad with Fabio Aurelio having left the club on a free transfer, leaving only Emiliano Insua as the only recognized left back in the Reds squad.

According to givemefootball.com, reports in Italy are suggesting that Roy Hodgson may look to revive interest in the the 23 year old who was first linked with a move to Anfield under Rafa Benitez.

The website believes however that the sizeable transfer fee that Napoli would demand for the player will prove to be a major stumbling block in any move. Hamsik scored 12 goals in all competitions last season, taking his total to 33 in his 116 appearances for Napoli during his three seasons at the club.

He was named runner-up in Slovakia's footballer of the year last year and was also named the young player of the year. He captained his country during his first World Cup in South Africa this summer.
I like Hamsik. But he's ANOTHER AM so surely not.

Blackpool are planning a move for Liverpool winger Nabil El Zhar.

Earlier this month the Moroccan winger stated that he wanted to leave Anfield following a lack of opportunities at Anfield since joining the club four years ago.

With El Zhar not expected to feature in the plans of new manager Roy Hodgson, Tangerines boss Ian Holloway is now looking at taking the 23-year-old on loan despite securing a temporary deal ex-Marseille winger Laurent Merlin.

Metz striker Razak Omotoyossi is also on loan at Bloomfield Road but Holloway is keen to bolster his ranks ahead of the new campaign after Leicester City and Derby County rebuffed approaches by Premier League newcomers for DJ Campbell and Rob Hulse respectively.

I'd take 250.000 £ for him, just to get rid. Then we can pay Gerrard and Torres wage for a week, yay!

No loans please. Only sales.
Depends. Loans can lead to sales sometimes. I'd sooner loan the useless lump out, in the hope of that happening, than hang on to him if there are no firm offers to buy.

That's true too. As long as he's out of the club.

Liverpool boss Roy Hodgson has revealed he has never considered loaning out striker David Ngog.

Ngog got Hodgson's Liverpool tenure off to a winning start with a clinical double in Thursday's Europa League win over FK Rabotnicki in Macedonia.

French forward Ngog has been linked with a move away from Anfield this summer with West Brom confirming their interest in the 21-year-old.

However, Ngog has expressed his desire to stay at Liverpool and Hodgson insists he has no plans to lose the former Paris St Germain man.

"I can't stop players being linked with other clubs. I certainly have never discussed him leaving," said Hodgson.

"I think Ngog has done well in the pre-season matches so far and he has worked very hard in the training sessions.

"I was pleased that he crowned his performance with two goals.

"I thought his target play, his general movement and his ability to keep the ball for us was also very good.

"But front players need goals and that will be a very big weight off his mind.

"It will mean he doesn't have to worry too much about the coming matches."

Meanwhile, Lucas Leiva has spoken of his pride at captaining the club for the first time in a competitive game.

The Brazilian took the skipper's armband with Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher both missing the game against FK Rabotnicki and Lucas hopes he did a good job in the absence of the senior pair.

"It is a really good achievement for me," Lucas told Sky Sports News. "I am really proud, really happy but the most important thing was to win.

"I know I have a lot of senior players in front of me, but i hope i did a good job."

Yes, so far.
It could turn out to be a false statement and I really hope that is the case.
But as we are right now Ireland is the better player.
Is he fuck a better player.
It's not cut and dry.

Ireland has certainly proven himself more in the premiership, whilst Aquilani hints at having much more than he's been able to show so far.

This season might tell, if they can both get regular football. I certainly wouldn't mind Ireland at Anfield - he's a very good player.

i actually think poulsen is not that bad
Not that bad is not the worst however I'd prefer to start with players who are quite good and work upwards.

It's ridiculous the amount of 30 year old footballers we've been linked to on the downward spiral.

Can we at least bring in players on the upward curve?

We all know that we're being linked with just about anyone these days.

I'm not to concerned yet, the Scharner and Beattie stories just proved that some journos have fuck all info and just writes whatever they want.

Shame bout Poulsen if he's gone that bad, I always thought he was a tidy player when he was at Schalke & Sevilla. Not seen any of him at Juve as Italian football is shite, is he really that poor now?

David James signs for Bristol City. Good coup for them.

I guess nobody in the Prem offered him first team football, which I think is surprising.

On the move: Liverpool youngster Krisztian Nemeth

Lecce have made a £1million bid for Liverpool youngster Krisztian Nemeth.

The 21-year-old came to England from MTK Hungaria amid much fanfare three years ago, with the Reds' official website still describing him as 'one of the most exciting prospects on Liverpool's books'.

However, Nemeth has failed to break through to the first time despite impressing for the reserves and he spent last season on loan at AEK Athens - scoring three goals in 18 appearances.

Lecce hope to sign him as part of plans to build a squad capable of staying in Serie A.
Nemeth has impressed as a youth international and helped Hungary to third place at the Under 20 World Cup last year. In May he won his first full international cap during a 3-0 defeat by Germany.

Meanwhile, Flamengo have joined the race to sign Liverpool reserve keeper Diego Cavalieri.

The Rio de Janeiro side are in a stronger position to meet the Brazilians wage demands than rivals Santos and Corinthians, but none of the suitors want to pay a fee for a player who still has two years to run on his Anfield contract.

Reports in Brazil say Ronaldinho has verbally agreed terms on an £85,000 a week deal with Flamengo. The club face difficult negotiations with AC Milan to try to agree a fee, but it is claimed there is a clause in his contract allowing a free transfer in January.

The 30-year-old, who has enjoyed his summer vacation in Rio, has 12 months to run on his current Milan deal.
