What? In that thread where you claim Lucas can fill in?

Or the 'all he does is pass' thread?

You were *chuffed* with last season's transfers, and I hope I don't have to find the proof
So its not 'overjoyed' its 'chuffed' what next?
PS-The above threads are the same one i believe. The one where i repeatedly said i didnt want Xabi to go and hoped he would stay.

How can anyone be 'happy' so far?

We've spent 2m and brought in Joe Cole.

We're losing Masher

We have to buy a LB, one or two DMs and a striker

Our squad, at this very moment, is no better than last year, really, and has just as many holes

how can you *possibly* be relaxed?

Yeah it's not looking good. We're going to need freakish luck on the injury front at this rate to have a good season.

Hopefully he'll keep getting called up for Brazil. Their new coach has recalled him to the squad for their next game.
Because we expected to still have Rafa in charge and to be losing Torres and/or Gerrard, and signing nobody. I hear you RE-Cole and Jovanovic but if they were not out of contract they would be about 25m worth of new signing.
We have also invested in some youth talent and......did i mention Rafa has gone?

And only 3 weeks to the start of the season, and only 5 weeks to the end of the window, and and and BANG

Masher would have gone anyway, and every flaw there is there because of Rafa, so the options would either be the current one, or Rafa in charge of covering up his own fuckups, and more than likely being stubborn and holding his ground over one of two of them.

So it's not the same, or worse. The chances are we'll be replacing those fuck ups anyway, it's not like we look like we're going into the season without a left back, we'll buy, and the chances are it can't any more hopeless with 'Roy' in charge.

Keep flapping though, there's only over a month of transfer activity left after all.

This is the most relaxed I've been about a transfer window in years.

Why is that Rosco?

'05 - Crouch
'06 - Pennant
'07 - Can't quite remember
08 - Keane and almost Barry for Alonso
09 - Alonso - Aquilani. Glen Johnson price.

No complaints so far this summer.

Oh........Dear.........

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jul/27/liverpool-luke-young-aston-villa

Liverpool have made a surprise move for the Aston Villa full-back Luke Young. Roy Hodgson, the Liverpool manager, tried to sign Young earlier this year when he was in charge of Fulham and he has now rekindled his interest in the former England international. Liverpool are understood to have tabled a £2.75m bid for a player who has been told he is surplus to requirements at Villa Park.

Although Hodgson's pursuit of Young might raise a few eyebrows among Liverpool supporters, the 31-year-old is able to operate in both full-back positions and was asked to represent England as recently as last November, when Fabio Capello failed to persuade the defender to reverse the decision he made earlier that year to retire from international football with seven caps to his name. He would also increase Liverpool's quota of homegrown players to comply with the new Premier League rule.

Liverpool are also short of options in the full-back positions after losing both Emiliano Insúa, who has joined Fiorentina, and Fábio Aurélio, who has left the club on a free transfer. Philipp Degen, the Switzerland right-back, has also been told that he can look for another club after meeting with Hodgson last week.

Although Villa are expected to hold out for closer to £3.5m for Young, the fee is unlikely to prove to be a major stumbling block. Villa have been keen to offload the former Tottenham Hotspur trainee as he is one of the club's higher earners and has three years remaining on his contract. Sunderland had also expressed an interest in signing Young this summer but were unable to match his personal terms.

Villa's decision to make Young available for transfer came as a disappointment to many of the club's supporters. Having joined Villa from Middlesbrough in a £5.5m deal two years ago, Young performed well in his first season but his start to the following campaign was curtailed through a combination of injury and personal tragedy, when Andre, his 17-year-old half-brother, was found dead on holiday.

Young eventually came back into the Villa side but made only 14 Premier League starts and was ultimately unable to dislodge Carlos Cuéllar, an orthodox central defender, from the right-back position. He remained a popular figure among the Villa supporters, however, and was given a standing ovation when he appeared as a substitute against Blackburn Rovers in the final match of the season.

If we sign luke young (back up) and maynor figueroa (1st choice) then thats a step up to what we had last season
Exactly

If Young was first choice id cry.... id fucking cry for weeks..

As back up he brings experience and would be a pretty trustworthy replacement defensively. Id much rather him than Carra playing right back.

That's because we haven't got any money to actually buy anyone, and therefore the issue of wasting huge sums on inappropriate players isn't relevant.

True.

I'm reasonably encouraged by the transfer window so far (mainly because of Cole in/Insua out, it must be said) but... relaxed? Hardly. We need to agree a fee with Inter for Mascherano asap because if they drag the transfer out to the end of the window, we'll be forced to settle for a fee we don't want AND we won't have time to use the money to fill all the holes in our squad. We're not in a good negotiating position there.

From another forum, who again has gotten it from a Villa forum;

Apperantly City have offered Ireland to Villa as part of the Milner deal, but he has heard of Liverpools interest and is keen on a move here.

He also said that Villa wanted to bid for Figueroa, but they were put off as we have a deal in place.

Why in the fuck would we be interested in Ireland?
We have Cole, Gerrard And Aquilani for that position not to mention Pacheco and Shelvey.
I hate the bullshit. I hate it. So much fail!

Hasn't played on the wing and as a central midfielder aswell?
Still, it's probably BS, but worthy of a post in the transfer thread.

Although Ireland could play the deeper role. He's a good passer and decent tackler. Yes it is bollocks, but I'd like to see Ireland in the middle.

I don't know how I'd feel about Ireland coming. He's very talented and Brendan's point about Aqualani makes me wonder whether we should use the first chance we get to sell him before his value totally plummets.
