Jaysus, surely he's worth 10m at least?
Yeah easily, especially from Italy.

I'd take Ireland any day.

I don't know what to think Aquilani, and I was one of his big fans before he arrived.

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed and am hoping for the best.

Come on - you just KNOW he's going to pick up a series of knocks during the first half of the season that will prevent him getting a run of games. He'll be ill a few times over the Xmas period, and then just before we're about to sell him in the January transfer window he'll have one magnificent game where he looks like one of the best midfielders in the world. We'll decide not to sell him. In the next game, he will do his ankle and be out till the end of the season.

Aquilani is worse than fucking Kewell.

We'll see, but it is clearly the case that Rafa chose not to play him when he was fit towards the end of last season- he could have and should have been played much more. I have hope, which is better than the sneering alternative you're offering Bunny. All reports suggest he's been nursed through his significant injury problems. We shouldn't go loco every time he picks up a niggle, which most players do in preseason. He'll start tonight, so lets see how he gets on, huh?

True, but Rafa's story is pretty much that Aquilani didnt have the bottle to play, as opposed to Rafa refusing to play him.

NOt sure how much of either story is true, but hopefully we find out.

I think we should let the actions of the player speak to us. And I can remember watching him playing with joy and enthusiasm only to be pulled off on a number of occasions by Rafa as a precaution. He didn't want to be hooked, or signal that he wanted away from the rough nasty game, he looked like the kid who has been called in when his friends are still out playing.

I think Rafa was talking shit.
Rafa was terrified to deviate from his 2 x holding midfielders and the worse our season got the more he got scared to change. He used Aquilanis fitness and attitude as an excuse to not play him. I seem to recall his dad coming out in an Italian paper and saying as much.
Anyway, that's in the past. He's got a chance now and if he doesn't take it then you would have to say his attitude or desire was lacking all along.

I wasn't being entirely serious. I agree about the way Rafa treated him, and I also thought he showed some great skill in certain matches - and a lot of enthusiasm. I just fear that he's made of glass, and having been through it all before with Kewell, I'm a little wary about getting excited by Aquilani.

Aqua at his peak is MILES better than ireland

When was his peak? 25 minutes after he was born.

As a prem footballer, Ireland is much better.

You need to stop drinking from that billabong mate - Aqua is a million times better than Ireland. He just has an unfortunate injury record

A million? What exactly are you basing that on?
'As a prem footballer, Ireland is much better' is correct.

So far.

Yes, so far.
It could turn out to be a false statement and I really hope that is the case.
But as we are right now Ireland is the better player.

According to givemefootball.com, reports in Italy are suggesting that Roy Hodgson may look to revive interest in the the 23 year old who was first linked with a move to Anfield under Rafa Benitez.

The website believes however that the sizeable transfer fee that Napoli would demand for the player will prove to be a major stumbling block in any move. Hamsik scored 12 goals in all competitions last season, taking his total to 33 in his 116 appearances for Napoli during his three seasons at the club.

He was named runner-up in Slovakia's footballer of the year last year and was also named the young player of the year. He captained his country during his first World Cup in South Africa this summer.
