Jansen has played most of his games as a left back, but is equally as good as a winger.

Great pace and 6"3, and is a great header of the ball as well. Would be a fantastic signing if we pulled that off.

According to Wiki, he has played as a striker too.

Bloody hell, sign him up Roy!

I think we need a big man up front aswell tbh
Just not Carlton Cole!

He can, it's worth noting though that Roy likes his big(ish) man upfront, cf Kevin Davies, Zamora.

Welcome back, Crouchino!

They can *all* fuck off

Kevin Davies and Fernando Torres... Imagine!

There's no 'target men' in the Premiership who interest me.

Zamora and Cole can be brilliant, but it's too often just in glimpses for me to see the genuine class we need.

The only guy I'd want is Bent, as per, and I think the ship has sailed there.

£13M... Argh...

Roque?

Kuyt could act like a target man if need be...

Torres and Kuyt are both decent enough in the air..

We need someone tricky upfront with the ability to hold the ball up... if they are under pressure they win freekicks instead of losing the ball. Messi is fantastic at this. He very rarely loses the ball and when he does he generally wins a freekick. Cassano the same.

Cole should be able to adapt to this role..

Id hate to see us use a big man all the time.. Unless a team has Drogba upfront its success is limited and often results in unimaginative one dimensional Football... 0-0 draws.

Why would City sell to us?

Don't know, he might want to get some time on the pitch for a change.
You said, "There's no 'target men' in the Premiership who interest me."
I wanted to know if Roque is one of them.

I don't think they'll sell him to us.

And he can't even get in the Paraguay first eleven at the minute.

I'd have thought Bent would be around the same price City would charge to a CL rival, and he would represent much better value.

I doubt we'll spend more than £12M on a back-up striker, though.

He's worth more to Spurs than £6M

Especially when that £6M comes from a rival.

We should have kept him and featured him more, even when Torres was on fire. That much is obvious.

This is bullshit.

We play with one striker. That striker is Torres. Who is ten times the player Crouch could even dream of being. And crouch can *only* play as one of a front two; he's hopeless as the lone striker because he's the slowest striker in the Premiership.

So he was always going to be on the bench, and didn't fancy that, so he left. That's it.

And in any case, he isn't very good anyway. He usually scores about 10-12 goals a season

Bren is right on this one. I liked Crouch, but our preferred formations meant that he was only ever going to be a useful 'option', and never be a starter. He knew that and decided to move on.

Jansen sounds ideal: someone who can play both LB and LW is exactly what we need, in addition to a solid LB like Figueroa. Plus he's tall, fast and German. He won't stare moodily out of the window of his tower, wishing he was living somewhere warmer.

To Spurs, where he spends most of his time on the bench as a useful 'option', and is never a starter.

Er, which bit?

(I know he went to Portsmouth first, btw, but Spurs is where he's ended up - because they're a 'big team'. And funnily enough, he's not quite good enough to play regularly in a big team. I thought you agreed with that?)
He does play regularly for Spurs. And start regularly.
He started 21 of 38 league games last season, and at the end was a regular sub, with Pavlyuchenko starting ahead of him.

Lads its true in the season that we finished runners up that our formation meant Crouch was never going to start and rightfully left in search of first team footy. However, teams cottoned onto us and parked the bus. The number of draws is testament to that.

Last season, Crouch would have been a real option to lead the line in the extended absence of Torres. Not having him cost us big time. Let's not mention Rafa's rigid tactics and predictable substitutions. Rafa made mistakes. Finishing 7th backs up that assertion.

So he started most of them. Great, thanks.
Ha. What, about 52%? He's hardly a regular starter.
