50m for Kevin Doyle seems rather optimistic
just a tad. I here ebanks-blake is worth infinity pounds

I quite like him, too - fast, big, strong and works hard

Clearly not a world-class finisher, but he's got plenty of attributes

West Ham have signed that Barrera lad from Mexico, he looked rather good in the WC. 4 mill £ could be a bargain.

Roys Fancies A Brazilian

Sources from Portugal are suggesting that Liverpool’s newly installed manager Roy Hodgson is eyeing up a potential move for Brazilian midfielder Josue.

According to those sources, the Brazilian, who featured for 52 minutes for his country at this year’s World Cup – replacing Felipe Melo against Portugal, is said to be ‘close to an agreement’ having already apparently spoken to the Merseysiders regarding personal terms.

Securing the 30-year-old’s transfer, however, will hardly inspire or satisfy disgruntled fans, who will most likely interpret the speculation as a humiliating indicator of the financial problems currently facing the American regime in place at Anfield.

If Roy Hodgson is going to turn around the fortunes at Anfield, players and fans alike will be hoping for signings of a much more high profile nature, not to mention quality.

Aside from the defensive midfielder now entering his twilight years, the pedigree of Hodgson’s potential signing similarly beholds a questionable logic behind the acquisition. Although the Brazilian is a current custodian of Wolfsburg, he has spent most of his career in Brazil under the employ of Goias, before moving to Sao Paulo.

Granted, during his tenure at Sao Paulo, he won a notable selection of titles, including the Copa Libertadores and the FIFA Club World Cup. But even so, compare the South American leagues with that of the Premier League. It is fairly self-evident that the Premier League, although arguably not as technically refined, is far quicker, much more intense and unparalleled in its competitiveness.

With that said, Josue did aid his German club, as club captain, to the Bundesliga title in his second year in Europe, so perhaps we’re being too judgemental – although, his only notable contribution, aside from patrolling in front of the back four that season, was an own goal against Werder Bremen.

The proposed arrival of Josue for an expected fee of around £6million may even manifest speculation surrounding Javier Mascherano’s future.

The Argentinean, it has previously been suggested, may look to team up with fellow compatriot Javier Zanetti and former manager Rafael Benitez at European Champions Inter Milan this summer should Liverpool be confronted with an offer they cannot refuse.

What site is all this bollocks from, Rafa? A load of smart-arsed, knee-jerk opinionising based entirely on a story they seem to have made up themselves.

KONCHESKY EMERGES AS REDS OPTION

Chris Bascombe said:
LIVERPOOL are trying to prioritise English recruits to fill more stringent UEFA criteria. Fulham left-back Paul Konchesky has emerged as a possible target, even though Roy Hodgson is reluctant to raid his old club.

There will be no recognised full-back at Anfield once Emiliano Insua completes a £5million move to Fiorentina this week.

"A deal has been struck with Fiorentina," admitted Hodgson. "We wish him well for the rest of his career and thank him for his time spent at Liverpool. I am expecting him to join Fiorentina next week."

Konchesky, 29, has just a year left on his Craven Cottage deal and would be available for a cut-price fee of around £2m

Well, I suppose the idea of having a cheap, experienced LB as back up isn't that bad.

Just as long as we're clear that he is back up

Liverpool Interested In Juventus Midfielder Christian Poulsen
By Subhankar Mondal

Premier League giants Liverpool are looking to sign Christian Poulsen from Italian powerhouse Juventus, according to latest reports.

Tuttocalcionews.it reports that the Reds want to sign the Danish international medio and are ready to barter midfielder Dirk Kuyt in exchange. The Bianconeri are looking to sell one of their midfielders in order to raise funds to invest in other departments, and it appears that they would be willing to listen to Liverpool's offers.

Both Liverpool and Juventus failed to qualify for next season's Champions League and have appointed new managers. Liverpool midfielder Javier Mascherano is reportedly set to join Italian and European champions Inter and Poulsen could be his replacement in the team.

I wonder if we are still in for Wilson from Rangers.
No one else seems to be linked with him.
I still think we may be in for him. If we had withdrawn our interest, I am sure one of Spurs, Sunderland, Villa, Birmingham would have made a bid by now.

Also Loic Remy seems very keen to join us.

Loic Remy’s representatives have said that Liverpool would be “passing up a huge opportunity†if they do not complete the signing of the France striker whose 'heart is set' on playing for the Merseyside club.

Both the player and his club, Nice, have expressed their desire to do a deal with Liverpool for a fee of around €15m (£12.5m) and expect a formal response from Anfield within the next 48 hours.

West Ham, who have transmitted a written offer of €17.75m (£15m) have conducted detailed negotiations with Nice, although the club’s president, Gilberto Stellado, has said that their offer to pay in four instalments is not acceptable and that he hopes a deal with Liverpool could be concluded “very swiftlyâ€.

“Liverpool are passing up a huge opportunity if they decide not to go with Remy,†his agent, Frederic Guerra, told Goal.com UK.

“Nothing has been settled yet but I know that Liverpool are having a meeting about transfers and we expect something this week.

“The boy is pure gold and I am not saying that because I am his agent. He has great pace and that is something Liverpool need in attack. Their first Europa League game is on July 29 and you have to ask yourself that if Fernando Torres does not play, whom do they have in attack?

“Remy will get goals in England, that is certain. Potentially, he is a better, stronger player than Nicolas Anelka or Thierry Henry. He is ideally suited for the English game and while he is determined to go to the Premier League, his heart is set on playing for Liverpool.â€

Guerra acknowledged that while Liverpool have not yet made a formal written offer to Nice for the 23-year-old, they have indicated their willingness to pay a fee of €13m (£11m) in two instalments.

Sources at Nice have indicated that they would settle for around £12m but want to insert a 20 per cent sell-on clause in any contract. Having bought Remy for €8m (£6.8m) from Olympique Lyonnais they will have to pass on 15 per cent of any transfer fee. Stellado added that he wanted to make Didier Digard’s loan deal from Middlesbrough permanent “but at a lower price than I have been quotedâ€.

The French sports paper, L’Equipe stated that should Remy sign a five-year contract at Anfield he could expect a monthly salary of around £40,000-a-week.

Liverpool’s scouting department have been monitoring Remy, who scored 14 times in the league last season, for several years but on Friday the club’s new manager, Roy Hodgson, said he would need more time to assess the striker’s potential.

“If Liverpool make an offer it will be done swiftly,†said Stellado, who was due to meet Remy today to discuss his future.

“The amount offered by West Ham suits us but not the payment method. West Ham want Loic because they know that if he plays in England he will be worth another €10m (£8.5m) but they don’t appear to want to pay us the full sum all at once.â€

Liverpool, having already shipped out Emiliano Insua to Fiorentina, expect to conclude a £4m deal with Olympiacos for Albert Riera according to sources in Greece.

The winger, who cost the club £8m from Espanyol, has not played for Liverpool since March after publicly criticising the then manager, Rafael Benitez, but is expected in Athens later this week to finalise a deal.

"The series will end, Loïc Remy should formalize in the next few hours his transfer to Liverpool.

Roy Hodgson takes his first recruit. Loic Remy has made about him during this early Mercato. Finally, a transfer of 15 million euros for a five-year contract. The now ex-Nice striker takes his first big club only 23 years. The salary would be around 3 million euros per year."

Wasn't there a report from elsewhere that the agreed fee with West Ham was about £10m and Nice were waiting for Liverpool to match the offer?
You would think when people write bullshit articles they would at least consult with the other bullshit to give it an air of authenticity and consistency.

Fuck this Remy off. His agent is talking far too much about us like it is a done deal, trying to force it through. He is obviously shit and not up to the standard.
