How many strikers do City need?

Do they still have Bojinov, Jo and that other youngster on the books?

Bojinov has left for Parma but Jo is still there though.

Were you talking about Caicedo? If so, he's still there.

Yeah was thinking about Caicedo. Was he on loan at Lisbon?

I suppose most of them will end up going. Any news on where Robinho is headed?

Roy Hodgson today confirmed that full-back Philipp Degen can look for a new club.

The Swiss international has struggled to make an impact since arriving at Anfield from Borussia Dortmund in July 2008.

"We have had an amicable conversation with Philipp and he wants to play football," Hodgson told Liverpoolfc.tv.

"We won't stand in his way and he is free to look for another club."

According to Wiki, he was on loan at Sporting, then Malaga from January onwards. He's still young though, 22 in Sept, maybe City will loan him out.

Fucking hell I totally forgot about Robinho.

So City have Adebayor, Tevez, Santa Cruz and Bellamy. To be honest with you, given City's resources, I would expect a stronger frontline.

Maybe Jo will sign on loan for Everton and we can enter the competition to win the actual pen he singed with. I mean the ACTUAL pen. Wow.

WIGAN AGREE McARTHUR DEAL

Hamilton have agreed to transfer James McArthur to Wigan subject to the player passing a medical, the Lanarkshire club have confirmed.

In a statement on Accies' official website, chairman Ronnie McDonald said: "The transfer of James comes exactly one year after James McCarthy moved to Wigan and I am confident that 'Auld' James will be just as successful in England."

"Our sadness at his departure is outweighed by our feeling of pride in his success and the way he acquitted himself in the Accies shirt," added McDonald.

"James is the third player to graduate from the Youth Academy to the English Premier League and great credit is due to all of our dedicated management, coaching and medical staff who have assisted him in his development.

"The terms of the sale agreement forbid the disclosure of the sums involved, but the Accies will receive a substantial initial fee and 'add ons' based on appearances.

"As ever, excellent players are difficult to replace but we succeeded in achieving this last season and we have an emerging crop of young talent in the shape of Crawford, Gillespie, Kirkpatrick, McQueen, Wilkie and Lindsay who will now be given their opportunity.

"In conclusion, we wish James every success in his new challenge, he fully deserves the financial rewards he will now enjoy."

From F365.

Good signing for Wigan.

Saw this on another forum, thought it was pretty good;

Martin Jol is due for a medical at Fulham tomorrow a head of his proposed move from Ajax..
They want to see if the bench can take his weight.

We've agreed to sign 15 year old Kristoffer Peterson, a Swedish striker. He's being touted around as one of the greatest talents to emerge in Sweden in some time.

Great pace, direct, good with both feet and is also quite big for his age. 1,83 something I believe and 78 kg.

He impressed greatly on trial, and will now sign a 3 year deal. Liverpool expect him to play for the U-18s this year.

Made his debut for Savedalens IF as a 14 year old.

This lad could turn out to be a great prospect.

Hodgson plans to use El Zhar and Plessis as makeweights to bring Remy to Anfield

The chase for Nice striker Loic Remy continues, with Liverpool hoping that the French club will accept a player-swap deal in order to beat West Ham's £13m bid for the striker.

23-year-old Remy scored 14 goals last season for Nice, having enjoyed a successful campaign the year before, too. He has been likened to Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, due to his lightening pace.

West Ham are thought to be leading the chase for Remy, having increased their bid to £13m and Hammers' chief David Gold has reportedly indicated that much of the fee will be paid up front, which had been a sticking point.

Nice certainly appear open to hearing a counter-offer from Liverpool, with their general manager Patrick Governatori having said, "We received a new offer from West Ham which seems good and suits us. If Liverpool want him, we need clear arrangements and commitments."

The Daily Mirror reports that Liverpool cannot top West Ham's cash offer, but that Anfield boss Roy Hodgson is prepared to offer attacker Nabil El Zhar and midfielder Damien Plessis as part of a deal for the French striker.

Liverpool talk with Internazionale over £25m sale of Javier Mascherano• Mascherano poised to link up with Rafael Benítez in Italy
• Manager says last season's troubles cannot be cured overnight

Liverpool are in talks with Internazionale over the possible sale of Javier Mascherano after the Italian club made an approach for the midfielder. Roy Hodgson is believed to be ready to sell the Argentina captain at the right price to raise funds, after warning Liverpool supporters that several more signings are needed to lift the "doom and gloom" that enveloped the club last season.

Liverpool want at least £25m for Mascherano, who has made no secret of his desire to move to Inter and link up again with Rafael Benítez, Hodgson's predecessor as manager at Anfield. Mascherano's agent, Walter Tamer, recently said it was his client's "dream" to join the Serie A club and the approach had been anticipated.

Well they're a Nice club after all...

£25M isn't really enough.

Fuck 'em, let's play hardball

Roy is taking a hands on approach to the Mascherano talks if this is to be believed.

There's a short line in The Times remarking that Roy Hodgson has 'made direct contact with Massimo Moratti, the Inter Milan president, as the Italian club step up their attempt to sign Javier Mascherano

25 million plus Cambiasso is attractive!

Ha ha, I laugh at you and your ridiculous valuation.
We might get £15 Million plus Cambiasso, mind you he's 29.

I don't really care whether you laugh or not. Cambiasso is considered a well travelled 29 year old journeyman and I don't see any clubs clamouring for his signature. Before you counter that tehe clubs are exactly queueing for Mascherano as well, its for toally different reasons.

We have the upper hand in this negotiation and whose to say that we don't value Mascherano at 30M and Cambiasso at 5M? Do you honestly think that Rafa will pass up the oppurtunity to sign his "son Javier?"

You are forgetting the fact that we have a "want away" player. He's basicalyy turned in a transfer request. Sure he's still contracted to for a coule of years but we can't really force him and his unsettled family to stay in Liverpool. I'd be happy to get £25 Million without Cambiasso.

I'm not forgetting anything Modokay. Everything is pure speculation in the media causing a frenzy. Mascherano hasn't issued any statements. Now let's consider that he is a want-away player with 2 years left on his contract, you're forgetting that he is considered the world's premier defensive midfielder and as such his selling price must be a reflection of that.

I would gladly accept 25 million too by the way. It will give us room to manouvre but its a deal that needs to be done quickly to afford Roy the time to bring in replacements. The longer Inter leave it the more anxious we get and that puts them in the driving seat. Something I'm sure you'll agree that we want to avoid. However, our transfer dealings this time around leave me hopeful. Nobody is dithering around which is a welcome change to previous years.

Yes, funny that , last year Benitez was saying Mascher was worth at least £30m

I think £30m is the bare minimum. We paid £18m, and the transfer market has gone into overdrive since then, and Mascher has become a better more credible player, during which time he has become captain of Argentina
