If he's like Shearer now then he'll be completely immobile by the time he's 23.
Ha maybe a young Shearer but like most people i haven't seen much f him so could be barking.

He really should stay where he is anyway. He'd benefit from getting some football under his belt at a decent level, score some goals and progress that way rather than do bench/reserve duty for a top side.

Pedro Leon has gone to Real Madrid

i would have liked guti

Stupid move by Pedro Leon given that Ronaldo, Di Maria and Kaka will all be ahead of him in the pecking order.

Ever Banega: Roy Hodgson to Bring £8.5M Rafa Target to Liverpool

According to reports in both the Spanish and Argentine press Liverpool’s interest in signing Valencia’s talented young midfielder Ever Banega has not ended despite Rafa Benitez leaving. Roy Hodgson is keen on adding his predecessor’s target to the Anfield ranks. The young Argentinean had been a long-term target of Benitez but also David Moyes who attempted to sign the 22-year-old on loan last summer. However, it would seem that Liverpool rather than Everton are still in the race for his signature with an £8.5m fee being touted.

Last summer Everton attended a home office meeting in London to push through the necessary paperwork to seal a late transfer window move but the deal could not be agreed. The Toffees loss could still be Liverpool’s gain as he could be a very exciting signing for the club and fill the role that was vacated by Xabi Alonso’s exit last summer. With Banega’s compatriots Javier Mascherano and Emiliano Insua set to depart from Anfield, Roy Hodgson will have the funds available to sign both the Argentine and his other central midfield target Steven Defour.

The 22-year-old joined Valencia in January 2008 but after just 48 League appearances for the club (40 starts) the Spanish side are likely to offload the youngster. Valencia’s financial problems are well documented but they are set to take a loss on a player signed for £14m. Despite selling David Villa and David Silva, Valencia are ready to do business. Ironically, Banega has had his best season with the club in 2009/10 after making 35 league appearances (33 starts) which is a major breakthrough considering in his first season he only started seven league matches and then was loaned out to Atletico Madrid. However, despite a tough start to his time in Europe, Banega has shown enough talent to impress Rafa Benitez and now Roy Hodgson who is keen to bring him to Liverpool to form a new central midfield with Standard Liege’s Steven Defour.

The youngster has endured a difficult time since joining the Spanish giants. He was signed by Ronald Koeman who was soon sacked and then was also embroiled in a webcam scandal in Argentina similar to that of former Eastenders star Leslie Grantham. Not the best way to start your career at a new club especially one that was severely and surprisingly struggling in the league. Despite a poor 2007/08 season by their standards, Valencia did end up winning the Copa Del Rey. However, despite featuring in 5 cup matches including both legs of the semi against Barca, Banega did not feature in the final.

Banega was loaned out to Atletico Madrid in 2008/09 where he made 24 league appearances but only started 5 of those games while scoring just one goal. The player had suggested he wished to remain with the Madrid club but Atletico did not make a permanent move.

Banega told So Foot at the time that he “wants to continue at Atleticoâ€, but knows that lack of communications suggests the feeling wasn’t mutual.

“I am young but not naive. If they have not spoken with me then it is bad. In any case, I will not return to Valencia, even though I still have a contract with them,†he said. However, despite his comments and Everton’s interest he did return. Now his time in Spain looks to be coming to an end with Liverpool set to start negotiations ahead of positive feedback from the player in Provencias.

Despite struggling in Spain, the player that turns 22 in June has won 3 senior caps for his country against Guatemala, Mexico and USA. He was also part of the Argentine side that won the U20 World Cup in Canada in 2007 and the gold medal at the 2008 Olympics. He played alongside the likes of Atletico Madrid’s Sergio Aguero in both of those tournaments. He also represented his nation at the Toulon Tournament where Argentina finished 3rd. Banega is a skilful deep lying playmaker who is mobile and likes to dictate the tempo of his side which is something that Liverpool have lacked following Alonso’s sale. If Defour signs too, the Reds will possess a far more mobile unit which is comfortable on the ball and will not squander possession lightly. These two would free Steven Gerrard to get forward at will and would provide England’s captain with plenty of precise incisive passes.

The young star was born in Rosario, Santa Fe and began his career with Boca Juniors where he came through the youth ranks. He replaced Real Madrid star Fernando Gago in the Boca Midfield when the former star moved to Real Madrid and after just 28 League appearances for the club Valencia stepped in with a big money bid. His last game for the Buenos Aires club was in the World Club Championship 4-2 final defeat to AC Milan.

Banega is a central midfielder very much in the Michael Carrick mould rather than Roy Keane’s. His main attributes are his excellent passing ability, tactical discipline and ability to read the game. The Argentine is not afraid to tackle as 25 bookings and 4 red cards in 100 career League games perfectly illustrates and could turn out to be a key signing for Liverpool who are looking to bounce back from a poor season with a new-look side next season. Roy Hodgson is expected to make a number of changes at the Liverpool this summer, Ever Banega looks set to be one of the first new arrivals at Anfield as the Reds rebuild.

If we could get Defour and Banega, then that would certainly soften the blow of losing Mascher.
It certainly would.
Pesam has been talking about Wickham for a good while.

Would Banega and Defour be a good CM partnership? I've never seen the former play, and have only vague memories of the latter.

They'd be very good indeed

Although I can't recall ever seeing them play more than maybe twice, and have no recollection of said displays anyway.

I don't even know what they look like

Napoli have signed Cavani from Palermo.
Rumour is a season long loan and then 13 mill £.

Thats something we should have done..

Remy prefers Liverpool

As announced earlier in the evening, the attacker Loïc Remy Nice confirmed Thursday, following the training, the interest from Liverpool: "It will be a choice between two clubs with futures I have a slight preference for a prestigious club like Liverpool although Tottenham are also very very interesting, "said Remy, Thursday, at the exit of the training Aiglons. "Nothing is done, no matter where I play, I'll have to beat me, I work and I earn my place.

We are due a decent player from the French League.

.. what an ugly bastard ..

but 14 goalsfrom 34 starts is okay I suppose

One of my good friends who is obsessed with the french league keeps on going on about how good loic remy is. Told me about him 2 years ago and said he is in the mould of thierry henry.

Would be a good signing i reckon

Danijel Pranjic: ‘Dream Club’ Liverpool Back in for Flying Croat Left-Back

Reports in the German and Croatian press are gathering pace regarding a move to Liverpool for Danijel Pranjic this summer. The Bayern Munich star was a reported target for the Reds last summer prior to his move to the Bundesliga but after struggling for a game, Roy Hodgson is expected to test the Champions League runners-up resolve to keep the Croatian international.

The former Heerenveen star spoke out before his move to Bayern Munich regarding the increased speculation over interest from Liverpool and his comments suggest he would welcome a move to Anfield.

The Croat told Omroep Friesland when questioned about Liverpool interest, “I still don’t know, that is a difficult question to answer.â€

“I have to wait until the transfer period and then I will see.

“In every newspaper they called me and I was live on television and they heard something about Liverpool but I cannot say anything about it.

“It was in the newspaper that is all I know. Yes of course [it would be a dream club].â€

Despite Bayern Munich’s fantastic 2009/10 season, Pranjic was not a first choice in the side and lost his place at left-back to German World Cup star Holger Badstuber for much of the campaign. The Croatian made 20 league appearances but only started 14 games, he is thought to be frustrated but knows that after Fabio Aurelio and Emiliano Insua’s departure from Liverpool, he would be first choice to fill in at left-back.

The 28-year-old previously played Dutch outfit Heerenveen in the Eredivisie where he spent 4 seasons. He is able to perform any left-sided role and enjoyed a superb campaign in Holland in the 1998/99 season after scoring an impressive 9 goals in 33 League appearances. Pranjic has bettered that total this season with 16 goals in 29 League appearances which prompted interest from Liverpool and ultimately his move to Bayern. His overall League record for the club reads 32 goals in 129 (all starts) games. Roy Hodgson is keen to bring in not only experience but also quality into his squad and with funds limited, a £6m bid could bring the highly versatile player to Anfield.

Pranjic is an experienced international with 30 caps for Croatia and his ability to play left-back, left-midfield and central midfield would be a huge boost for Liverpool. He is pacy, an excellent crosser and has a keen eye for goal which would surely make him a fans favourite in no time. The player has spoken positively of his future at Bayern but his agent is thought to be seeking a move at the earliest opportunity with Liverpool heading the queue. The Reds only just missed out on the player last summer but it would seem Pranjic’s move to his ‘dream club’ could be back on. He said, “I’m not expecting to be in the team at the start of the season. But I’ll try to take my chance when it comes.â€

Croatians have proved to be a big success in the Premier League so it would not be a surprise if Liverpool sealed a move for Pranjic to join his compatriots in England next season.

I've never seen Wickham play, only heard that he's meant to be very good.

Is he significantly better than Pacheco and LDV?
He's a totally different type of player to Pacheco but comparable in terms that they both have potential to become world class players. Wickham is a big lad who looks as if he "belongs", he didn't seem overawed as a 16 year old making substitute appreances in the Championship and seems to take each step-up in his stride.

To be honest I haven't seen him play more than 20-30 minutes at a time because the times I have seen him he has come on as sub but of all the "kids" out there he's probably the pick of the bunch.

That said, £10m for a 17 year old who COULD be great seems a lot for a club who are supposedly cash strapped.

Well, this man is cleary bonkers;

Mick McCarthy has warned Wolves' rivals that it would take a £50million bid to make him sell Kevin Doyle and the Molineux boss insists that there has been no approach from Arsenal.
