I don't think it's going well for us

Everyone seemed happy when FSG came in cos they were gonna reduce all the shit players we had and give less wages to ours players, not be held to ransom and generally get good deals

It hasn't really turned out like that though, has it? Missing out on top players because of wages and CL (Costa, Willian, Mkultra) and now we are lowballing our best players into potentially leaving

So where does this leave Liverpool as a club? Trying to be Southampton without the heavy influx of talented youth they already have?

With this current desire to be as cheap as fuck and do an Arsenal whilst attending to the stadium leaves me wondering which good players we may still have by the time we've even done the main stand. Where do we see this plan ending up long term?

Oh and it's almost certainly worth adding that if Ayre is indeed leaving this summer it would explain a lot of terrible and protracted negotiations which have since gone public

I agree with you to an extent, but, we're just guessing really most of the time as to what's going on behind the scenes. Off the top of my head:
Konoplyanka fell apart due to the structure of the payments although we agreed the price.
Costa turned us down as a club even though we met his buyout clause.
Mkhitaryan we were outbid on and offered a fortune for him.
We've offered Sterling a massive contract tripling his wages only 2yrs after signing his last one that tripled his wages.

So I don't think that they're not putting money in, it's maybe other factors. We could offer big players the money, but I just don't think we're that attractive as a club any more (regards of what rodgers says).

I think if they're giving Rodgers a 30mill kitty plus sales each summer, we can't really complain at that. If players like sterling and henderson want massive contracts that they're not actually worth, then FSG would probably do well to extract maximum value for them from the transfer market than be held to ransom. I don't blame us telling to fuck off for 180k a week, as he's blatantly not worth it.

Even if it is reinvesting money from player sales, They have spent loads on transfer fee's.

Though have been tight on wages which will continue to cost us on signing players like Sanchez/Costa and keeping players, hendo/Sterling.

I don't now who Mkultra is, but did we miss out on the other two because of wages?

We're not as attractive a destination as other clubs and haven't been for a while.

We've been in the CL once in the past five years. We're a borderline mid table club at this point

How have people come to the conclusion we're lowballing or being tight on wages in our offers? 35k->100k for Sterling doesn't sound like a lowball.
I think we're having more issues selling the club to players rather than meeting their transfer fees or wages demands.

Because we lowball early on when we can get things at a much lower value, and then baulk after waiting ages and watching the price go up

Sterling isn't worth the money he's asking. He might be in the future but not now. What do we do, just keep paying inflated wages when we can't afford it? That won't end well.

Thing is with Sterling he can get that money elsewhere. The market is stupidly inflated by the likes of City.

Tight arse behaviour? FSG have spent the money. We just havent spent it very wisely.
I also think we would have closed some of these deals with other footballing people in charge then Ayre.

I thought Sanchez wanted to live in London?
