This is a case were Rage got truly attacked. He came in with a sensible comment. We really did play better and we really did lack leaders. I think thats a truly great point.
Alonso was a great leader for us. He is the one at the scene when Carra went all ape shit on Arbeloa. I admit to overlooking the loss of Alonso. But i did want us to get two CMs to replace Alonso; Our midfield has lacked two things this year, attacking influence and defensive fortitude, go figure.
Our clear best games this year have come with Gerrard and Lucas as the midfield. Granted we haven't seen a team without Lucas as a midfielder. Fucking A!!!!! We bought well this summer we just sold a lot more than we bought (Got to count Keane and Crouch). Its really hurt us. The positive is that the squad we have is capable of greatness and isn't Aquilani available for selection on sunday?

I've seen him have some horrendous games too mate.

Anyone could argue the toss over whether he is or isn't better than Insua, Aurelio, or whomever, but arguments like that, similar to the old "Pongolle's a better option than Player X" are fucking futile.

But he plays for Villa who are classed as an inferior team, so when he or the defence plays like shit, it's just chalked up to them not being very good. If we had've let go of Insua last season and now saw him running up and down the wing for whoever, I bet people would be watching on mournfully.
 
insua would be better off not going forwards and defending because he offers fuck all when he goes fowards, absolutely fuck all. he has got to be the worst crosser I've ever seen for someone so attack minded.
