Broke 1 record (10 Mar 2013)
Atlético de Madrid's goalkeeper, Thibaut Courtois, has beaten while playing against Real Sociedad the record for the number of minutes played without conceding a goal in the Vicente Calderón stadium in the Spanish league.

Courtois played past Abel Resino's impressive 800-minute record that had remained unbeaten since the 1990-1991 season.

Courtois' record reached its 820th minute when it was frozen by Xabi Prieto, who put the ball past the Belgian from an off-side position, nine minutes into the second half.

The goal also served to put paid to Atlético's clean sheet at home, that stood at 14 consecutive Liga home victories. Real Sociedad came away from El Calderón victorious, having won 1-0.

Broke another record (5 May 2013)

Without doubt, the Belgian Atletico Madrid goalkeeper is extending his great season in the rojiblanco goal. Against Real Sociedad earlier this season, he broke a record that Resino had set as Atletico goalkeeper with the most minutes without conceding a goal, that was set in the 1990 / 1991 season at the Vicente Calderon, Thibaut Courtois has become the keeper in all European leagues with the most clean sheets in 2012-2013. Behind him are the likes of Neuer, Sirigu and Buffon.

Courtois has played 47 official matches this season in which he has conceded only 30 goals. His ratio of goals conceded per game played is 0.65, a percentage that reflects his great season. The figures must also be credited to the great defense that Diego Pablo Simeone has put together.

Even more, in today's game against Deportivo, Thibaut Courtois became the second goalkeeper in the history of Atletico Madrid, after beating Molina (543 minutes), to not concede away from home for 597 minutes straight. The record, of 23 years, still belongs to Resino, who went 613 minutes without conceding a goal away from home. If the Belgian goalkeeper doesn’t concede during the first 17 minutes in the next league game against Celta Vigo, he will become the best goalkeeper in the history of Atletico to keep clean sheets outside the Vicente Calderon stadium.

His great figures see him lead the fight for the Zamora with 25 goals conceded in 32 league games (0.78) ahead of Willy Caballero the Malaga goalkeeper who has conceded 34 goals in 32 games (1.07).

And a 3rd record broken (9 May 2013)
Thibaut Courtois broke a second of Abel Resino’s goalkeeping records yesterday, just at Resino watched on as Coach of opponents Celta Vigo.

The Belgian youngster surpassed Resino’s club record tally of 613 minutes during Wednesday evening’s 3-1 win at Balaidos to become the ‘keeper to have not conceded a goal away from home in La Liga for Atleti.

Augusto Fernandez’ late strike for Celta set the new record for Courtois at 681 minutes, with Resino present as the Galicians’ Coach on the night too.

Courtois earlier this season surpassed Resino’s record for minutes without conceding a goal in the League at the Vicente Calderon, when he went 819 without conceding earlier this season.

Resino held both the home and away records for Atleti from the 1990-91 campaign.

Turning 21 yrs old and cost only £7 million.

Owned by Chelsea isn't he? Only on loan at Athletico Madrid, talk of him being used in a swap deal if the Chavs bid for Falcao

Hes ace, I reckon we should be in for him now regardless of what Pepe decides, if he isnt better than him now he will be in about 2 years. Not sure if Chelsea are keen to sell though, but if they are we should be at the head of the queue

Atletico Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois has won the Zamora Trophy for the best goals-against ratio in La Liga this season and at 21 he is the youngest ever.

The young Belgian, who individually also set new club records this term for the longest runs respectively home and away not conceding for Atleti, has become the first goalkeeper for the Vicente Calderon outfit to win the Zamora Trophy since Jose Francisco Molina in 1995-96.

The award is handed out each season to the goalkeeper to have conceded the fewest goals over the course of at least 28 ‘calculable’ games.

Courtois’ 29 conceded from 37 appearances is the best ratio this season in Spain, at 0.78 goals against per game and it ends Victor Valdes’ four-year reign.

The 21-year-old is Atleti’s sixth different goalkeeper to pick up the award and is officially the youngest goalkeeper to have done so, beating Sporting’s Juan Carlos Ablanedo to that honour.
