There's apparently no game on Thursday...(Arsenal Away)

City usually go on a massive winning streak that comes to an end when they are about 15 points ahead and it's irrelevant
True, they are annoyingly good. Like I said, it's a long shot, but it's not impossible for us to go on a long winning streak. We've done it frequently under Klopp. You just hope City at least lose or drop points against Chelsea, Spurs, United. If they do that, and we go on a big winning streak, the title race can become alive again.

They're not annoyingly good, they are annoyingly blessed with practically two top quality teams. Everyone else patchworks their way through the winter period and it just doesn't effect City.

Add in Covid and they've benefitted tenfold.

Fucking Covid-title winning bellends.

Must be the Ivermectin they’re all on.

I'd rather play this with a depleted squad than push the fixture pile up down the road, but I presume we wouldn't be asking if the situation wasn't even worse than for the Chelsea game.

Liverpool news conference cancelled
There was meant to be a news conference from Liverpool this morning but that is now off.
Liverpool assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders, who has been in charge of the first team while manager Jurgen Klopp is isolating, has now returned a suspected positive test for Covid-19, so there is nobody available to undertake press duties.
The Reds cancelled first-team training on Tuesday and Alisson, Joel Matip and Roberto Firmino all missed Sunday's Premier League draw at Chelsea while three members of Reds' also staff tested positive.
The Liverpool squad is also being stretched by the departure of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita for the Africa Cup of Nations.

Todays press conference has been cancelled as now Lijnders has tested positive as well. That comes after our initial request for the game to be postponed.

They’ll make us play it. Just like we had to play against Villa despite the squad being the other side of the globe.

Thing is, it's the semi finals. The EFL would benefit from LFC having the best team available.
If they decide that we have to play, then we should just send our u23 team and the fans should just boycott the game.
The only thing they care about are finances. Hit em where it hurts.
The annoying thing about this is that this isn't new. We had a similar problem the year we won the CL and had to play WCC.
They did nothing to fix it.

That’s why they will make us play it. Especially if spurs Chelsea goes ahead. They need both semis to be 2 legged or a single tie. You cannot have both for the 2 semis.

Have we actually written to the EPL to ask to be withdrawn though or do we have too much pride to do that?

I know it's a different regulation but UEFA pretty much took out Spurs, why can't the EFL do the same to us....the conference league and the EFL cup is about the same level of prestige tbh.

League Cup is our best opportunity to win a trophy this season.

The conference league is 50 times more prestigious if you compare prize money.

5.7 Where the Management Committee determines that a Club, without just cause, has failed to fulfil any of its fixture obligations in respect of any Competition Match on the appointed date the Management Committee shall have the power to:
  1. (a) require that Club to forfeit the Competition Match and award to opposing Club a bye into the next round; and/or
  2. (b) impose penalties against the Club in accordance with Rule 24.1; and/or
  3. (c) delegate the matter to a Disciplinary Commission in accordance with Rule 24.3.
Ok so a 2k fine and a bye for Arsenal.

Cya.

Liverpool have closed their AXA Training Centre in a bid to stem a major outbreak of COVID-19 cases.

The decision to shut down the Kirkby complex was taken following consultation with public health officials.

Training was cancelled on Tuesday and on Wednesday morning there were further suspected positive cases among both players and staff. Assistant manager Pep Lijnders tested positive on Tuesday night and is now isolating along with boss Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool haven’t specified how long the centre will be closed but The Athletic understands it’s likely to be for at least the next 48 hours.

@JamesPearceLFC

Common sense prevails. The EFL have granted Liverpool’s request for tomorrow's game to be postponed due to COVID-19. #LFC will forfeit home advantage for 2nd leg. 1st leg now at Anfield on Jan 13 7.45pm. 2nd leg now at Emirates Jan 20 7.45pm.

Meh..."home advantage". There's no away goals rule so what's the point?

Essentially a winter break for our key players (excl. the AFCON ones). Hopefully we make that advantage count in the second half of the season, rather than fold & give City an easy run to the title from here.
