you can't fling players together (some out of position) and expect them to gel. northampton play together week in week out.

Neither can you pick up the pieces from the previous managers fuck ups and expect it to all to knit together nicely in a matter of weeks

for instance; the entire reserve side with the except of the greek and agger at center, would have almost center presented more of a challenge to northampton because they know each.
has this mish mash tactic worked for us in 4 years? time to change the tactic or it will happen again this time next season.

Today we started with 3 players who went the world cup and 2 established internationals, his tactics where fucking disgraceful. He had 2 men sat in front of the defence at home against a league two side and one fucking striker up front. He then decides not to have a fucking backup plan, just in case it goes wrong. No established players on the bench, surely you would have had Torres, Cole and Jose on the bench as they where all lacking playing time or form you bring them on if needed.

Now lets talk about his twating substitutions during the 90 minutes, oh hang I fucking can't he didn't make any. To me this is either a manger who didn't have a clue what to do or he was happy with what he saw either fucking way that is worrying. Then his peace de resistance when he was really fucking flaping lets throw the greek up top as a striker, I remember a certain manger doing this with Mr Huth and he was ridculed for it.

If he doesn't get at least 9 points out of these next 5 games he needs to be shown the fucking door.

And to top it all fucking off I'm soaked.

Well since the likes of Agger hasn't been slow about moaning about lack of game time he probably felt it would be best to give them a run out.

A bit of experience on the bench probably would have helped but on reflection it was NORTHAMPTON we were up against and that side we had out should have been good enough

Are you complaining that there was too many fringe and/or first team players out there tonight and if we had played more weaker players we'd have done better ?

Honestly I am fucking petrified of how the situation will look after the next 5 games, I have not seen one game this season where I've thought ye things are going to look better after Benitez era. If anything we are playing alot worse.

I'm saying he should have picked players that are familiar with each other and are comfortable in the position they are picked for. if we'd picked the reserves they would at least know each other strengths and weaknesses and each others runs.

the team tonight was cobbled together with forwards on the wing, centre backs at fullback and no creativity through the middle. the reserves would possibly be outmuscled but they would certainly have tested the northampton keeper more than the mish mash team did.

On the one hand I'm not sure Roy should carry the can for the protracted period of depression that began under Benitez, on the other I'm thinking he clearly fucking knew what the minimum expectations were when he signed on here - so it shouldnt be a fucking surprise to him, and nor should the previous tenure be used as an excuse.

These are your players now Roy, try fucking managing them.

Do you know what is the most infuriating thing, it's that he has just continued with the exact same system Benitez used an a little bit worse. You expect a new manager to bring his own ideas, its like all thats changed is the face on the touchline and thats it.
 
early days but roy strikes me as a tactically inept manager, reactive rather than proactive. goodness only knows how he reached a european cup final.
 
the scary thing is a new manager usually gets an initial burst off the players as they try to prove themselves which dips off over time. a very scary thought...

Re-active, really he's neither he didn't react till the 91 minutes, you could see after 30 minutes we where in the shit!
 
I dont care if it was our reserves/kids out there, we've still been beaten AT ANFIELD by a team in 17th place of the 4th division of football. It's embaressing.

Jesus Christ! Where exactly are we sitting in the league? Its the worst start to a campaign in nearly 20 effin years A weaker fucking side we had 5 full internationals out there, that couldn't beat a side from league 2, yes league 2!!

i dont care about the carling cup... however...

I think its a shame that the players didnt step up - for a lot of them this was a chance to get a decent run in the first team. A good chance for us to get a better look at them and to start pushing the first teamers for game time. Roys tactics are obviously flawed and are equally as mind boggling as some of Rafa's most demented decisions.

I think there is a bigger issue within the club. None of our lads seem to remember how to play Football. It seems that everyone is trying to adapt to to tactics and formations instead of simply getting the ball down - making some runs and creating chances.

Our lads have the skill and the ability - but simply seem to lack the confidence and appear to consider Football as the most complicated puzzle known to man.

Let's be really honest, eh. I know we're supposed to support through thick and thin, but I grew up with the Bob Paisley definition of thin - finishing second. It's been pissing down for a long time now and I don't see a break in the clouds. Don't give me "who cares about the Carling Cup". This was another abysmal night. I don't want to get on any anti-Hodgson bandwagon, especially one championed by a tosser, but there were some obvious flaws in strategy - again!
 
It is simply an expendable ccomp and Roy may not have frozen. He may have wanted to test some down to the wire.

I suspect the truth is somewhere in the riddle.

Players I feel need to take some of the blame too. Granted some of Roy's decisions where questionable. However the 11 players he choose let him and themselves down big time.

Maybe this crop of young lads we have are not has talented has we thought. I understand some of the players were played out of position and I cant for the life of me work out why. I'm sick to death of people saying to me he can play left,right or in the center. It's no good being jack of all trades and master of none.


Its going be a long tough season. I suggest we all hold on tight because it could get really bumpy.

I see tonight was the worst attendance in a very long time. Not sure if that's because it was the CC or the boycott hopefully the latter.
