It ranks alongside Inter Milan as the biggest job in Hodgson's career - but his work at Fulham alone suggests he is up to the task.

Fulham came 12th.
Below Stoke.

Fuck off.
With a limited squad, limited resources and a lengthy run in Europe to boot.

I know it's not the dazzling move everyone wanted, but throwing the 'you finished 12th' point at him is harsh when his main task the season before was to avoid relegation. Ultimately their season grew into one of near European Glory (only to be stopped by one of THE in-form players in Europe), so it's no surprise he prioritised Europe, when league wise they didn't really have the squad to do much else other than finish midtable.

Bit of a fair turn around in 2 years, all things considered.

Your retort was to say he finished 12th, with a small, limited Fulham squad. They just about avoided relegation the season before, thanks to him turning it around. He then went on to finish 12th while getting to a European Final.

Ha ok.

I'm not particularly overawed at anything to do with the club right now, but he's a stable, short term choice who deserves some backing if he comes in.

I am really looking forward to having Hodgson at the helm.

I am hoping that I will no longer be mystified by strange transfer-market dealings, team selections, tactics and mind-boggling substitutions.

Just for a change it would be nice to see a manager who does the bleedin' obvious.

Here's power to your arm, Roy! 🙂

Good luck to him. A very likeable manager who will bring a certain degree of class to the club. Hard to tell how this one will work out, hopefully he's not messed about and gets a fair crack at it. Hope he does well.

Woy Hodgson's Fulham lost 16 Premiership league games last season, with a goal difference of -7.

It's "bleedin' obvious" that he's a pretty shit manager, who is too old to change, has never won anything, and shouldn't be anywhere fucking NEAR the Liverpool job.

It's a horrible state of affairs that this OAP nobody is in charge of my club.

I hope this thread ends up in the Vault, Brendan, and in years to come I will be able to taunt you with it. ;D

The Vault is full of threads in which I have made seemingly wild predictions about how shit players X, Y and Z are, only to be proved....er, right.

Woy will be a non-entity and is the wrong choice.

Arent players back in this week for pre-season training?
I drove past the Wycombe training ground earlier and their lads were back.

What date did Rafa get the heave ho?

Why havnt we appointed a new manager yet?

I dont really care if it is or is not to be Hodgson, i just think the whole thing is a fucking shambles.

We are a fucking shambolic joke of a club and the owners, Purslow and Broughton should fucking shoot themselves in the eyes the twatcunts.

Although if Woy does get shut of the likes of Lucarse and Insua over the summer, he will start the new season almost in credit with me.

Whats the old saying?

Be Careful what you wish for.

Rafa's gone and some OAP looks like he's going to come in and try to do something he has never done in his life.

Win something.

What makes some people think 'he's just what we need stability'

If mid table mediocrity is stability, well yeah he can do that easily.
Nobody expects him to win something.
Our expectations for the season have almost nothing to do with the manager we appoint. If Rafa was still here and about to have his three best players shipped out from under him i would sypathise with him and not expect him to win the league either. But then i wouldnt expect Rafa to win it regardless of what the board did.

I think people are also forgetting that we have a fantastic spine, if kept intact. So aside from a few additions, Roy will be expected to work with a talented bunch of players and not underachieve, like we did last season. The basis of an 'excellent' side (not just a good side) is there, all he has to do is stick to the basics well, as he's shown he can do, and not over-complicate things like Rafa often did.

I don't think Masher will, but he's more dispensable than Gerrard and Torres.

I think this is the first time I've ever heared a Liverpool supporter saying he doesn't expect to win anything this coming season in my life.

(Or expect the manager to to be exact but its the same diff)

I was a little shocked and came out with the prick statement, and I'll stand by it too.
