The Suarez/Evra Racism Row

Re: The Suarez/Evra Racism Row (continued)

Yep but we still don't get the true meaning, its very very offensive apparently, it has racial connotations, because its like, you are not what we are or something, like Unter Mench in Nazi germany?

It's sudaca actually & I have never heard it. I would guess it be equivalent would be Paddie or Taffy I guess?
I was told by a Spanish friend that its like being called 'a useless immigrant cunt of little worth'
I asked an American friend who's fluent in Spanish and has lived in a number of countries in S.America (not Uruguay but Argentina, Ecuador and Bolivia). She tells me it carries overtones of "S.American immigrant skivvy only good enough for menial jobs", that type of thing.

Yeah but we need a proper Spaniard to describe it in reality, or a proper south american

hahaha. but if he genuinely misunderstood and thought he was being racially abused in the game, it's out of order and petty to ask for him to be charged too. all that should have happened is they apologize to each other like adults. thanks to the FA and ferguson, millions of pounds now need to exchange hands.

Because only they know the true meaning, I mean people who come to England working here and visiting Liverpool thinks its great, but people who live in the country all there lives perceive Liverpool as a slum ridden shit hole full of criminals.

Capish?

In other words visitors can have a more accurate idea of the reality than native people who get swept along by cheap prejudice. I think that makes my point rather than yours TBH.

Are you happy to make the same argument for the word negro ?

Yes I am. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negro#In_other_languages

Honestly Dantes, he isn't ever going to get it. Not until you kill him and eat his soul.

the list is that long, by the time I'd get around Rosco I'd be eating his soul through a feeding tube

no mate, it makes my point, ie you have to have the cheap prejudice in you to understand the meaning, and not be an outsider with sensible views.

I had done. sudaca = shake.

Re: The Suarez/Evra Racism Row (continued)

Asbo: I see what you're getting at now, but I still don't take your original point. My friend wouldn't have known what "sudaca" meant if it hadn't been explained to her by S.Americans themselves, with whatever prejudices S.Americans may carry.

Re: The Suarez/Evra Racism Row (continued)

Well if, and I say if, Evra called Suarez a sudaca, it is pretty certain he knew what it meant.

Re: The Suarez/Evra Racism Row (continued)

Monsiuer Dante

Thanks for the wiki link - I vote for you to represent Suarez at his appeal hearing.

The closest meaning in English of the alleged insult from Evra Iam reliably informed is P***

And I see yours but my friend Lived and worked in Spain for years too, and they both have similar translations yet totally different too, thats why a proper Spaniard or Colonial would explain it proper for us, just to be sure.

Re: The Suarez/Evra Racism Row (continued)

Seeing as footage of the incident in the goalmouth has become sky's own zapruder film, I've now seen it a 1000 times and I'm wondering if Kuyt heard and actually understood what Evra said. Kuyt comes charging in to have a go at Evra and even though Evra has his back to the camera he looks genuinely rattled.

Based on that I think Evra was looking to get Suarez sent off by abusing him in Spanish - out of earshot of those around them - in the hope that he would get so wound up that he would eventually raise his hands to him. Except, as we all know, it didn't work out that way.

It's true, Deadly looks very angry in that clip (which is unusual for him) and Evra certainly backs off.

I have zero confidence in the FA's procedures but hopefully these things will get a full airing in court eventually.
