The Suarez/Evra Racism Row
Are people feeling okay on here tonight, seriously?

If you don't believe there's a conspiracy against LFC and you don't believe Suarez is an innocent victim who's never put a foot wrong, who's been framed by evil Ferguson and Evra, you're somehow a lesser fan?

Okaay than

I don't believe there's a conspiracy, and I don't believe Suarez has never put a foot wrong.

I do believe he has been unfairly treated here, and I find it hard to understand how somebody wouldn't.

I'm sorry JJ, but I'm not having that. The point of that post is to highlight how absurd people are being about it.

We're all LFC fans and we're all disappointed, but lets not lose touch with reality.

We are going to launch an appeal right?
Eight games is waaaaay too much.

I wonder what will happen to Terry.

Some posts on here are really really not on. It's flipping sad and pathetic.
fine, sorry ... but do calm down, Asim.

Ultimately it boils down to this.
They had an argument.
Evra said he was racially abused.
Suarez admitted using a term he shouldnt have but thought it was ok.
It wasnt ok.
He got banned.
Thats about it.

I think ebjt is fucked to be honest. I mean proper fucked.

Sorry Jules, I think he'll have a sour taste in his mouth now and his career in England can never be the same. My Spanish friends think this whole thing is bizarre, I reckon a few Spanish clubs will be reaching out to Suarez now on that same basis. Sadly, the club for all its defense of Suarez will also be thinking of the reputation and marketing impact of this whole thing unless he's cleared and vindicated.

Logic tells me he's going to be playing for someone else next year.
I understand the reasoning but I think the man will want to tough it out, and I think Kenny will too. If I'm right about that, your forecast would mean FSG forcing a sale against the player's and the manager's wishes. I don't think they'd take that step.

I also think Suarez WILL be vindicated if we go to law over this in the event of an appeal failing, which I think is vital.
I agree, I don't think the club would sell him against his wishes, I just think neither the club nor player will think it's a bad idea and when that happens and a bid comes in, it's usually bye bye.

On the legal issue, I thought football associations, UEFA, FIFA etc. took a poor view of clubs and players going to civil courts to contest decisions on disciplinary matters. Isn't that what's happening with the Swiss kerfuffle right now?
First para: let's agree to differ on what the player's likely reactions will be, though we probably can agree that that will be the deciding factor.

Second para: Indeed. What I'm saying is that we have to ignore all that and forge ahead. If we fail to do so we enshrine the FA's freedom to treat us more harshly than other clubs, and Ferguson's ability to get them to do so.

Jules, I really have to say that although you're normally a quite sensible and wise fellow, your conspiracy theory on Ferguson's role makes you sound like a complete nutter.

If it was "negrito" - then that's the bit that seems unfair given his background and the way the word is used around Europe and beyond. I can understand the FA wanting to put him straight on the way it might be perceived here - but 8 games?

England's Brave John Terry

I don't know Gerry, maybe it's because we all have different lines as to what we think it acceptable when it comes to racism.

I agree with you but made a small amendment.

They've left themselves no choice with EBJT.

To be fair we still don't have a clue what is going on, so it'll be interesting to see what the FA report has in it.

Considering we don't know what was said and wether or not we're simply taking Evra's word alone on this, i think it's a little crazy for people to be suggesting that he deserves this ban.

Reading through a few more of the posts jj's posts in particular stand out as particularly shitty. Most likely cos I would expect more from him?

Ladyred, I'm way behind in poster of the year votes so while I'm dishing out insults, I have to say that even in the past your views on what constitutes racism have struck me as rather parochial.

I guess we do. Suarez wasn't charged with racism though.

And I'm sorry, Anita, but I stand by it. When you say "people" you mean "people who don't agree with you", and exaggerated caricatures of their views such as "never put a foot wrong" or "evil" are inflammatory.

Atlas - it's also because you'll defend Anita and her views regardless. I quite admire that, but I don't accept your criticism.

Just surprised Pete is too ...
While I don't agree with Ross' stance on this neither he nor Pete are happy about this. It's a bit of a shit lazy accusation.
Sorry mate - This 'dust yourself off and stand up' lark just pissed me off. People were pissed about the long grass? Dunno, I thought people were taking the piss. We've lost to Stoke before, so nothing new. Crossbars and posts? Happens ... No conspiracy theories. Refs? They make shitty calls every year for us and for whoever. Part and parcel really. But this? A player who's never had any issue with this before - despite playing with blacks his whole life on every level - and despite there being no evidence (bar Evra) has been banned for 8 games (is the longest ever?) and fined 40,000 pounds after months of quiet? Who gives a shit about him not being on the pitch - you've just destroyed a person's reputation based on what? If everything we say in our statement is true, I hope this goes to the highest courts in the land and we fight back. Let's dust ourselves off and fight for the player. Not because he's our best player and we need, because he's innocent and deserves to have his name returned to him despite the shit he's taken from opposition fans and Liverpool fans alike.
Good post.
He's taken a lot of shit and it will probably get worse following this verdict. He's always given 110% for this club. If he feels he's innocent, the club should appeal and stand by him or we do not deserve him to play for us.

Most likely it will be reduced to 5 odd after appeal.
Also agreed with gene that Suarez will be more likely to move on in th summer.

The club statement is commendable and it's got balls.

The problem now is that every cunt is going to abuse this ruling, you'll get players pulling the racist card left right and centre and meanwhile the FA have now set a precedent which I doubt will be upheld for EBJT, or anyone else.

This seems to all stem from Rafa's 'rant' which was the first public questioning of the FA's bias in favour of United and Fergie, it's been a long road in which they've proven that he still has an unnerving power and influence over the English game and it's points of leadership.

As for Luis, well having a black father and having played alongside multi cultural players for years without any hint of this before, doesn't seem to hold any sway as far as the FA go, no further damning evidence has been brought forward during the enquiry and it's been magnificently timed (as only the FA could, remember Ferdinand returning from his ban against us?), to hit before the busiest and one of the most crucial period's of the season. If Luis' downfall in this is that he isn't quite as black as Evra, and ergo, must be the guilty party, then I think the FA need only look in the mirror to find the racists. As for Luis keeping Schtum on the pitch, what like Rooney? It's part of his game, his nature and his winning mentality, if you take that from him you may aswell give him a one way pass to Barcelona right now.

He's ours and he deserves the benefit of the doubt, given who the cunts are calling the shots, he deserves all the backing he gets.

Very disappointed with today's verdict. This is the time when @luis16suarez needs our full support. Let's not let him walk alone. KD

Terry's ban will be at most 2-3 games ... He's English.

Kenny is a legend.

No-one rates you as a poster more highly than I do, gene, but I'm hardly the only person to have referred to Ferguson's role in all this and there are - at the very least - questions to be asked about it.
