The Suarez/Evra Racism Row

Neither do I. It's particularly unfortunate because it suggests the cr@p peddled about him by Ferguson and the media is starting to find an audience even among Liverpool fans. He's no childlike innocent, but he IS someone who arrived at Ajax Amsterdam as a raw teenager not even speaking the language and ended up being made skipper of such a great club. To call that kind of man a "cnut" is lazy at best.

I don't know, I think it's just that some of us recognize that he's a bit of a cunt, but accept it because he's awesome, and he's ours. A good example is when he handballed in the World Cup and then celebrated so animatedly when the penalty was saved. I was watching that and thought to myself "What a horrible little cunt", and I dare say plenty of other people did, too. Of course, now he's ours, I love him. That's the point really. He's the type of player that you love when he plays for you, but hate when he plays for someone else.

He handballed and got sent off.. and fair enough. Thats the rule. Why on earth should he not celebrate when the penalty was å miss? Passion.

He blatantly cheated. It's just not something I admire. I accept that it's part of who he is, but I'll never love that part of him.
How do you feel about Stephane Henchoz Del?

The situations are similar Del, the characters are not. Alan Hansen handballed on the line as well against the blueshite.

The situations are similar in that there was a handball involved. I'm still not convinced that Henchoz knew much about it, whereas Suarez has openly admitted that he cheated and would do the same again. And Henchoz didn't do a merry dance after his, either.

Anyway, I've already said I love Suarez, so I don't want to be painting too bad a picture of him. There are many facets of his character that I love, it's just that a propensity to cheat isn't one of them.

I'd hope he'd do the same for us if a similar situation were to arise
i'd hope any of our players would do it tbh

Its a gamble that he took. would they score the pen? who knows, but you're giving yourself a better chance to stop the opposition scoring with such heroic cheating

It certainly was.

Instead of getting stick he should be praised for sacrificing himself for the good of the team.

Police have passed their files on John Terry to the Crown Prosecution Service. Whatever that means.

Any word on Luis' hearing?

It means their investigation is finished and they've now asked the lawyers to decide (a) if there's enough evidence to have a reasonable prospect of securing a conviction and (b) if prosecution would be in the public interest.

with the form terry is currently in let's hope he gets off so he can go straight back into the chelsea team.

Jack: you're welcome.

Neil: yep, agree. Wonder if Villas Boas will find the courage to bench him. Come to that, I wonder if Capello will.

Kenny is in the enviable position of being able to drop anyone he wants because of his standing at the club and not having to worry about how the fans will react.

Villa Boas has a far bigger problem when it comes to making those kind of decisions.

The ball bounced up off Jockey's thigh and hit his arm. Luis did his best Paul Cooper impression. Very different situations, amigo...

He definitely moved his elbow towards the ball. I remember laughing my head off at the time and screaming out his name. A wonderful save that was.
Didn't he do it twice and get away with it both times?

I watched Henchoz's again the other day. I don't think he could have moved his arm out of the way if he tried. The only question is what it was doing there in the first place...

I don't get the handball thing really....

He knew what was at stake if he did that, and got punished for it. If he protested and tried to get away from the punishment, then it's a different story.

It's the same as what the commentators call a "professional foul". When the situation demands it you cross the line, in full knowledge of what the penalty is for that transgression and you accept the consequences. What is so wrong about it?

Of course he would celebrate his country going into the Semi-Final. Wouldn't you do it as a fan?

WTF are the FA doing about the Terry case? It is absolutely ridiculous that someone, completely clearly mouths 'black c*nt' and is yet to be charged, when in a much more complex, subtle and ambiguous case a player has been charged. I'm not saying Suarez shouldn't have to answer to clear his name or whatever, but isn't it maddening that the FA continue to drag their feet over Terry?

Is it becuase the Terry case is also subject to a criminal investigation? Or maybe just because the FA are a bunch of fannies.
