The Suarez/Evra Racism Row

Re: The Suarez/Evra Racism Row (continued)

I reckon he's innocent. That Evra is a lying negro.
Funny you say that. Evra on the field of play complained to the ref (after the kuyt booking incident) that he was called black. In his comments to the referee Him and ferguson then used the n-word. When asked why it changed from black to the n-word, Evra calmy and confidently said that it was because he doesn't like the n-word, so when speaking to the ref he used the different word...black.

Now watch this from a French documentary which is doing the rounds on youtube...

[flash=400,300]http://www.youtube.com/v/HEwLkCRziD8[/flash]

Dantes puts it to evra, that he complained to the ref about the word black, because he heard the word negro and knew its translation. Not because he had any reluctance to use the other n-word.

So Ross, is Suarez racist or not? You immediately replied when I said a response earlier on seems to imply you think he is, and yet here, you're not taking any issue with Woland & Larry both saying he is. Still convinced he's not racist?
I don't really care if he is or not, it's for others to decide their own opinion and that is a pretty subjective thing. And all it does is serve to confuse matters, because it isn't the issue - yet so many people still come back to it.

In all the circumstances, we preferred the evidence of Mr Evra. His account was clear and
consistent in all material respects. There is no basis for saying that he lied or was mistaken
in what he heard. We found that Mr Evra's account is probably what happened. The
conversation was all in Spanish. The words which follow (below) were either Mr Evra's
exact words or close approximations to them. Mr Evra said to Mr Suarez "Concha de tu
96
hermana, porque me diste un golpe?", meaning "fucking hell, why did you kick me?". Mr
Suarez replied "Porque tu eres negro", meaning "Because you're black". Mr Evra then said
"Habla otra vez asi, te voy a dar una porrada", which means "Say it to me again, I'm going
to kick you". Mr Suarez responded "No hablo con los negros", meaning "I don't speak to
blacks". Mr Evra then said "Ahora te voy a dar realmente una porrada", meaning "Okay,
now I think I'm going to punch you". Mr Suarez responded "Dale, negro, negro, negro",
meaning "Okay, blackie, blackie, blackie." This meant that Mr Suarez used the word
"negro" five times in the goalmouth. This was the number that Sir Alex Ferguson reported
to the referee after the game, and which Sir Alex probably learned from Mr Evra. The "five
times" reported to the referee straight after the game corroborates Mr Evra's evidence that
the word was used five times in the goalmouth.

Am I wrong to think that this (especially to bolded bit) is absolutely barmy?

You've changed your tone nicely from "I don't think Suarez is racist." I guess it speaks volumes what this report & '8 games' have done to his reputation ... Oh well ... Not like we weren't asking for it after our last experience with a South American.

Re: The Suarez/Evra Racism Row (continued)

Yes it is barmy, why would they use such obviously ridiculous reasoning? They did so to make a point of the fact that Evra's testimony was correct from the start and never changed. If that was true....again why use such dumb circular reasoning to create an impression it was true? That's the hallmark of a lie. You bullshit-o-meter should be going off when you read strange things like that.

And as in my earlier posts with Marriner, you can see exactly why they were saying what they are here.

The FA have always reminded me of the old Soviet Union. They have "show trials" in which the accused stands no chance of being acquitted. They have offences that do not exist in normal law, like "bringing the game into disrepute."

In the days of the Soviet Union, the condemned man had no choice but to go on the train to a gulag and hope to survive it and get back to civilisation eventually.

I am beginning to feel that unless LFC's lawyers come up with a brilliant demolition of the committee's version of the evidence, we will just have to shut up, let Suarez serve his time and move on.

It's worth remembering that Ferguson can attribute much of his success to persuading his players that the rest of the world is against them. Maybe Kenny can do likewise.
I reckon he's begun at least to move towards such a policy already. We're definitely becoming more vocal about unfair treatment, poor decisions etc. Frankly I regret the need for it, but the alternative is to let the old goat down the E.Lancs.Rd.continue to reap the rewards of his thuggishness alone.

I despise Ferguson more with each day that goes by. The old bastard has coarsened the game, and his combination of personal unpleasantness and sheer chutzpah has browbeaten too many people into sucking up to him and letting him get away with it. "Services to football" my @rse.
I am still infuriated with the extreme form of justice. If the FA have the jurisdiction to hang Suarez, they would!

As much as I'm a Liverpool fan, Suarez has racially abused Evra at least 7 times in 1 game, fact. How you choose to act on that statement is up to you, but its there.
It's not a fact. It's a finding based on probability.

But don't let that bother you eh?
And what is it a finding of ?
Probability. Nothing more. But enough to find him guilty.

It is not fact. Surely you're not going to argue it is?

Well if you look at the terms and conditions of sixcrazyminutes, which we all signed up to of our own voilition, it does read as a strict liability offense. So Rosco should be getting an 8 week ban for that. Am I wrong?

Re: The Suarez/Evra Racism Row (continued)

All that sudaca or whatever in Spanish wasn't said either

Suarez was approached by a bitching girly evra crying over his knee being kicked Suarez tells him to shut up using the word Negro evra things he has been called nigger n gets upset Suarez then says it a few more times knowing it's pissing evra off. Stories from 'the mancs are vague but evra and fergies fit while our stories are all over the place.
Lfc have not handled this well from the off unfortunately. I really hope a ban is reduced and most likely after a few games it will pretty much be forgotten as is the nature of football and the fickleness of fans and media.
Apart from the mirror headline there hasn't been loads and loads about Suarez is racist stuff as far as I have seen.

Re best fans 'in the world thing ltw it swings the other way some of the comments from blatant lfc fans towards collymore and evra on twitter and the like has been absolutely nuts! Of course they were. to stir up support for Luis in a battle with the FA. Where do you think "negrito" and "sudaca" came from. Take a look at that absolute joke of a statement we released after the hearing.

It's quite common. Rafa did it exceptionally well.

Well, none of them could remeber what Evra had said excactly, and this was shortly after the match. Still they expect Suarez to remember word for word what was said during the match? Nonsense.

The witness reports from the 4 utd players is not the best evidence is it? They didnt hear the comments from Suarez, bur could see he was upset and he told them what happened. What a joke.
Well, none of them could remeber what Evra had said excactly, and this was shortly after the match. Still they expect Suarez to remember word for word what was said during the match? Nonsense.
Good point. I've been thinking too - how do they expect him to remember exactly every word that was said and every thought that passed through his head during heated exchanges in a tensed football match.
Then they go on and issue a 115 pages report. Lawyers who want to justify the ridiculous amount of money they charge.

Re: The Suarez/Evra Racism Row (continued)

fa - 'evra claims you could him negro. did you?'
suarez - 'no, I didn't'

The Suarez/Evra Racism Row (continued)

Think it's time to bite the bullet on this one.

I think he did it and I think he deserves the punishment. If Evra's alleged statements are true there is no defense that it was good natured. The context blows that out of the water.

I fear we will end up looking awful as an entire organization on the back of this if we do not do the right thing.

Re: The Suarez/Evra Racism Row (continued)

Is this for fucking real? 115 pages of bullshit for Evra not getting over being fouled by Suarez!!? He was moaning about the fucking foul which he was awarded a free kick for 5 minutes earlier. If you cant handle being fouled then you should not play football... End off. FA should tell Evra to shut his mouth and take a foul as a man. And thats about it.

And it is interesting to see that the man starting the nig**r accusation is not Evra, it is Ferguson. Ferguson consequently used that word were no others used it. Fucking racist prick!

That is fucking bollocks. Utter shit. But that kind of shite logic doesn't mitigate Suarez calling him a negro at least once and pinching him, and saying it was all to diffuse the situation.
What it does do is remove any shred of credibility from the commission's "findings", so there's no way of knowing that what you describe actually happened. And if there's no way of knowing that, there's no way he should be convicted of it, either by the FA or by the pitchfork brigade on here.
