Marquinhos (of PSG) is up for sale, the guy is 29 still very good, can play either CB positions, RB and CDM, Brazilian too. I'm not sure what they want, but I'd suggest seeing if £35m does it

I thought we decided that Brazilians lose their ability to function at 29?

Why would we pay £35m for a 29 YO though?

Don’t see the point in signing old players unless they’re really really good, free and on low wages.

If PSG are selling - it’s not because his best years are ahead.

We have string of examples of Italians not at all doing well at Liverpool but people were creaming themselves at wanting Barella. Even me, I was wanting Bastoni. So is there loads of cases where 29 year old Brazillian turning to shit? All I see is Brazilians playing well into their 30s (Chelsea's Thiago, Marcello, Alaves, and Roberto Carlos) at a high level.
I threw a figure of £35m as Transfermkt valued his at $60m, PSG could accept less... However, when you have depth issues at CDM, RB and CB, all areas Marquinhos could play, I see the pros out weighing the cons

I thought Marquinhos was one of their untouchables but googled him and see he's been caught up in the Mbappe mess (at least from one headline).

Anyways, like the idea that we - in the middle of a rebuild whilst in the Europa League - are going to convince PSG to sell their captain on the cheap as well as convince Marquinhos to come to effectively play the Milner role. Oh, and likely make him, at 29, our highest earner (or one of our highest earners).

It's the answer to all our problems!

I googled his salary. Its high around Thiago's level, but no where near Salah's. I put forward a suggestion to cover CDM, CB and RB.
By all means put your solution forward, its a forum, it has no influence on what the Klopp does.

Here’s a better solution.

Buy no-one.

There are loads of better solutions.

I can respect not agreeing with my solution, but buying no-one when we have thin squad is your option? As I said plenty of times, I have no influence on who Klopp buys, but if Klopp did get Marquinhos, would you be upset at his arrival just because he is 29 and would likely want £12m plus a year?

It's a valid point, I can imagine what it was like on here or any other LFC forums for that matter RE: Milner.

In 2014 if someone, anyone (most likely you BB), would've mentioned the possibility of signing a 29 year old Milner on a free but on 150-200k a week as not being a bad idea and a fairly astute move......yet you'd still have had half the fans almost thinking the idea of signing him as insulting and instantly dismiss the idea.

Yet the next summer we in fact we do just that, he goes on to play as many times as he did in a successful side and the rest is history.

Now I'm not saying the same has applied to Thiago, or would apply to Marquinhos but simply brushing off the idea because they're not 22-24, are as sexy looking as Szobo, won world cups etc is just wrong.

We've made all types of signings under Klopp work out. Relegated players that many fans turned their noses at, worked. Bosman signings that fans turned their noses at, worked. Big money signings from lesser clubs that many fans thought was all risk and no reward, worked.

As opposed to your suggestion of spending a likely £50m+ on a 29 YO that will want more than the £200m+ he’s currently on and at least a contract as long as the 5 year one he’s on for a player to “provide depth”.

If he was free, willing to drop his wages significantly, was happy with a short term contract and didn’t expect to play every week - then yes.

So, in a fantasy make believe world that doesn’t exist - he’d be a great signing, but in this world, unless we’re changing our name to Al-Liverpool and relocating - then I’d rather play the kids.

If it were a loan - well we do love bringing in sone Brazilian depth on loan - so why not.

okay so he does well on the loan... he is happy to take £12m a year. PSG want £25m, then what?
before people get the knickers in a twist, there's more chance of us getting Mbappe on loan.

Can we not sign someone young and better when we’re making up conditions?

I’d rather we sign Gvardiol on loan for a season and then buy him for the £25m that Red Bull want.

Maybe we could ask Real Madrid if they’d loan us Tuchameni for the season with a view to buying him for £25m next season if he does well.

Lets’s flip it the other way and enter the realm of reality.

Would you have us pay £60m+ for Marquinhos, pay him £250k+ a week and offer him a 5 year contract to entice him to move on from PSG and the deal he signed with them in May?

Would you up it a bit to keep it more attractive that the rumoured Saudi offer in the pipeline and sweeten the fact he’ll not be in the CL?

Other than the Hungarian, I have never advocated large fee signings. £30m for Marquinhos at £250k is for me worth it. And if we win the Europa Cup, and mount a title challenge, I doubt you'll care. Besides, we aren't even linked Marquinhos, it's all academic. I threw a name in the hat, I didn't think I'd have to make such a defence, I mean I throw lots of names, normally people just ignore what I say.

I want to see minimum of 4 new signings. We have 2 and need 2 more. We get Lavia and a CB, I'll shut up

I see - so even you reckon we should ignore what you say.

Excellent.

Guys - all this transfer activity is making us go to war with each other plus all the Hendo/LGBT stuff. Let's start afresh - and assume we all hate each other, imagine that other as Man United fan, but this idea of ignoring each other and not reading each other's post disturbs and saddens Moron. We have been here for so long - and just stop talking to each other's bollox opinion takes away the humour from the site, and makes the each other look like vaginas. I love the arguments between us all that takes place.

I really don't care, ignore me or reply to me, its your choice.

I care BB - I want you to feel the love of a sensible post, the inner glow of not desperately having to make something up, that isn’t going to happen then getting upset when that thing yiu made up doesn’t happen or the high of not having a brain fart and then sharing it with everyone.

Think of it like warm chicken soup for the soul.

Honestly… it’ll help you survive till September when there’ll be plenty of real things to whinge about.

Money on Bluebell suggesting we should make a move for Harry Maguire before the window shuts.

Only if we sell Curtis at the same time.
NEVER !!!!I think people on here just use Curtis to trigger my emotions. But did you all notice that we beat a PL team in pre season Only after Curtis was introduced into the team...did not concede a goal....just saying.

No?

Which PL team was that.....? Are you referring to our last pre-season game when we smashed a championship side and didn't concede a goal for the 2nd half when he wasn't playing......?
