The race

The upcoming fixtures look a whole lot scarier now than they used to.
If we the fans are getting nervous, imagine how the players feel?
You know who don't seem to be bothered by it?
Our bench. They just want to go out there and prove themselves and Slot isn't allowing it.

Also you better believe that Arsenal are starting to think that we might fuck it up.
So we better hope that Real gives them the beating of all beatings.

We could do with them staying in the CL

Go read the other games thread for Arsenal Chelsea. No way they catch us.

There’s an international break then we get a weekend off. Time to mentally and physically regroup and win 5 games and that’s the title.

We'll be fine. But this is why loads of us were really worried about our prospects if Arsenal had got the gap down to 4 or 5 points. We've been crap for ages.

Meet the new manager. Same as the old manager.

Once again loads of us are screaming for certain changes. Then he doesn’t make them. Everyone guesses that players (Endo) don’t suit his philosophy. Well that’s Amorim level stupidity. Do what it takes to fucking win football matches.

Gravenberch and Virgil look shot. There’s not much we can do about Virgil despite Quansah’s recent cameos. Running Gravy into the ground isn’t on. Endo rarely lets us down and doesn’t get dominated.

Chiesa may as well fuck off to Italy on holiday. The Alps will be lovely this time of year. He’s not getting a game. Even when Gakpo is out, Jota not ready for 90 and Nunez still gets minutes.

I’m not seeing any of these tactical tweaks or more control this last month. It’s still utter fucking chaos.
Said in the Slotball thread on 20th March
I’m flabbergasted at Salah making top three in the MOTM voting. The three subs made instant impacts and our intensity went up levels. They were my top 3.

The slow starts piss me off. I get that when we play a low block we keep the ball and try to kill their energy before striking later in the game. But after Wednesday and with Tuesday on the horizon we needed to go in for the kill from the off. That was insulting the first half.

Van Dijk looks mentally off it. The guy needs to excuse himself from the international break and have a holiday.

Diaz is an enigma. Was shit in Paris and shit first half today. Wank. Then turns it on second half. Blows my mind and it’s that inconsistency which will see us cashing in on him.

Anyway. I’m off the pub. Laterz.
Southampton post match
It’s not about loads of rotation. It’s about praising Endo then never using him. I’ve said, along with @Brizzle and countless others, that we could’ve rested Gravenberch through reducing minutes and not games. There’s many games where he didn’t need to be on for 90 when we have Endo to close out the games.

Chiesa will never get fit without games and the same applies. Where is the benefit in playing Salah for 90 game after game? Take him off after 75 when you can. Do that 6 times and it’s one game less in his legs.

Just be bloody smart about it.
PSG post match.

All the same things stick. Overplaying some of our key players when we should be looking to give them fewer minutes on the pitch. Mental fatigue has kicked in as much as physical. See the goals we conceded in our last 3 games. Pretty much all of them were brain dead. Subs come on and make an impact. Then they get lashed back on the bench. Then we have to turn to them to try and make changes.

The slow starts. Fuck right off. We gave teams confidence by not blasting them out of the water then chill the rest of the game. We just seem to let them grow and then we go back to Klopp’s worst seasons where we concede the first goal 70% of the time.

Obviously disappointing, but if you'd offered me where we are right now back in August I'd have bitten your hands off. And I think, with the possible exception of City, any other team in the league would have done.
City would have bitten your hands off in October though.
I have a lot of time for you, but I hate this mentality

What you'd accept from an unknown future is one thing, but living it surely is different? We've got to a final, topped the CL group. To give those 2 things up in a week for no real reason other than a managers stubbornness and a poor mentality is unforgivable.

Like, if you said "in march you're going to shag Margot Robbie" I'd be elated. It gets to the end of march is turns out that yes I'm still shagging Margo Robbie but could have been getting rimmed by zendaya (but didn't as I was too focused on Margot Robbie) at the same time, I'm going to be a bit disappointed when I find out

In spite of everyone being all "oh what a super duper squad we've got"; we should have strengthened in January as this drop off could be seen from space.

Mcconnel and morton should have been used more. They might not be good enough but they won a fucking trophy last year

So, you're jealous about me and Zendaya then? Is that it? She says Hi, by the way.
I get what you're saying, and this time last week I wanted it all too. But it turns out I can't have it all. But I want the league, and I want the league more than anything else - back in August, this time last week and right now. And we're going to get it. So whilst I'm pissed about how things got derailed this week, and particularly that all that remains for us this season is to wander over the finishing line in the Premier League before playing out a few dead rubber games, I'm still going to go ape shit when the title is confirmed. And I don't give a shit that it's the only trophy the players will be waving from the top of the bus along the Strand.
Newcastle will probably have a parade tomorrow. And the city will go fucking mental. Because they won the League Cup. Whatever.

That derby game, Arsenal play either side of it. If they win both and we lose its 6pts (albeit with a game in hand). Add in that we have to play Arsenal, its not inconceivable that we can fuck this up.

I watched Arsenal play today and I have to say they are not great. They struggled to overcome a very ordinary Chelsea.

Although as I said sometime ago it is down to us, we should not be worrying about what others may or may not do.

Three wins and two draws should do it. 4 wins a draw too.

West Ham
Spurs
Palace

Should all be 3 points at home.

Leicester away should be another 3 points.

Everton and Arsenal at home should be draws at worst.

Brighton and Fulham away again should be draws at worst.

Far too many shoulds for my liking. We both know it never works out that way.

Should've beat Plymouth, should've got through PSG after taking a 1 nil lead back to Anfield, should've lifted our first trophy of the season today after Newcastle were missing 3 key players.

By time we both play again they have Martinelli and Saka back though*

The important thing slot needs to sort is the fucking motivation of these players. Yes, there's fatigue and he needs to manage that better; but some of these performances today were an embarrassment to the shirt
