The race

Pressure? From where?
We’ve a very tricky run of Chelsea Arsenal and spurs ( I think). Doesn’t take much for that big lead to dwindle. Everton at home is no gimme either. Think we should win, but they’ll put up a fight.

I agree, and based on prior experiences, if anyone can fuck it up, it's us.
That being said,

it's done.

We *should* win? The opta computer thingy makes it a 99.5% chance. So if we ran the league from now 200 times only once in those 200 universes would we be defeated. If we're in that Universe we may as well launch ourselves from a window like people who have disappointed Putin, because it's shit.

I have no doubt that we will spin this out by having a couple of poor results however any threat is predicated on Arsenal being perfect which is unlikely!

We let City back into the title race that year by dropping points in a couple games. What felt like a lost cause to them suddenly became an achievable goal and we all know what happened in the end.

Now obviously Arsenal are not the City of a few years ago but let's not give them any reason to play harder and grind out wins that they otherwise might not.

If we're in one of the most depressing universes going, yes.

Nothing was ever a lost cause to that City team. We were never more than 6 ahead (after their game in hand was played), we still had to travel to their place, and that was in feckin' January! That lead was NOTHIN compared to this one, and everybody - even the most determined pessimist here - knows it.

I don't know why. We are close to winning the league, which is a much bigger deal for us I think, but I still pissed off about losing to PSG. Being out played over two legs AND being unprepared for penos really concerns me. I would have thought Arne was captain preparation.

Has it actually been confirmed anywhere that we didn't plan for penalties?

The Champions League was always a bonus this year. By February, I had already lost most hope, as it was clear that Slot was running the first eleven into the ground. Competing seriously in three competitions—one being the toughest in Europe—with so little rotation just isn’t realistic. I had expected us to reach the semi-finals before Madrid shithoused their way past us, but here we are, still well and truly in dreamland compared to our aspirations at the start of the year.

Slot is doing exactly what we wanted from our previous managers when we didn't have a squad to compete on all fronts - prioritize the league over cup competitions.

It didn’t look like it but I am speculating. Think back to when we had penalty specialists come in 2022 to help us win both cups on Penos.

We looked super confident and super prepared.

Flash forward to this year - Jones and Nunez looked like lambs to the slaughter. And I’m pretty sure no plan should have Darwain taking them.
