That's not exactly true though because if had have done that then he wouldn't have played his preferred XI (to XV) in all competitions and would have rotated far more in the CL for example.
Didn't Klopp (all managers) say everyone took them in practice but on the day he asked who wanted to take them (as not everyone wanted to)? I would hazard a guess Slot was no different or maybe based his selection on who had performed best in practice - which obviously doesn't always translate to match day when faced with a giant in goal.
Doesn’t Nunez take penalties for his country and have a good record?
I remember a discussion a while back when we decided Mo was shite at penalties after he missed a couple and, at the time, Nunez had the best conversion rate.
Mind you… that might have been Frogfish desperately trying to find any stat he could to make Darwin not look completely gash. 😉

You can’t account for having weaknesses in the two positions where your opponents are arguably the best in the world.

Well I'd have happily taken the quad this year and failed to qualify for the CL next whilst we're rebuilding !
I wouldn't. Failing to qualify would have had an impact, quite possibly a big one, on our prospects of attracting top replacements.
If we'd won the CL this season we'd automatically qualify for next season ... so finishing 6-7th during a rebuild wouldn't affect anything 😉

It’s not losing the final km bothered about. It’s the manner in which it happened. That display was very very poor. If that was nerves, then what gonna happen if we drop points at the start of the run in? Won’t be easy. Thankfully Arsenal have more games than us with the champions league still a distraction for them.

Well I said at the start of the week, the league game was the most important of the three and I’m still glad we won that vs either of the other two.
A 9 pt lead with Arsenal to come to Anfield would have been a worry.

No disagree, we have 3 away games that I think we will lose all 3, and Arsenal at home. Thats not enough, I need Arsenal to start droppimg points, and after today Slot is definitely fucking up big time with his selections.
I think we'll limp over the line if we can get Gakpo fit. Chiesa is surely worth trying down the middle now.
