The race

But that's a mentality issue I hate. These are professionals. You can dial it back when it's done.

It's perfectly normal to find it harder to focus when it's over. And I think you're exaggerating, we currently have the best form in the league, we've gained three points on Arsenal in the last five games, we're doing enough to win the league. Obviously everyone would love us to win every game at a canter, but it's not really that realistic when our squad isn't really that deep. I wouldn't be too bothered if we limp over the line, sign up all our vest players for next season and avoid injuries.

You could argue that if there was more pressure, we'd have turned up better in the last few weeks, it's easier to take the foot off when the challenge hasn't really materialised. Hard to really be sure.

You could in theory but in practice I'd only put the Fulham defeat down to complacency.

The dropped points before were much earlier and in the thick of that hard run in February. We withstood that pressure reasonably well but the Arsenal loss to West Ham sure helped a lot.

Anyway, our form has been pretty consistent since we beat City in December. Before that we were averaging 99 points over a season. Since then it's 82 points. And it was about that after 25 games or so, cos I remember looking. We haven't fallen off a cliff recently, it's just been good but not quite title winning results and even less inspiring performances for about 4 months.

There could be loads of different reasons for that, obviously, but it does make me a bit more uncertain about next season than I normally would be.

But it's not over yet, that's why I'm not happy. By all means when it's won I don't care what you do; until then though we really should be trying.

I think that's what I'm finding so vexing.

I think we are winning the league.

I think we only need 6 points to do it.

I also think Fabio needs a cuddle.

At first I read that and was like wtf but yeah 6 points is probably the right number tbf.

If Arsenal draw at Anfield then we need a total of 8 to match their max total. I think they'll probably draw one other so that takes it to 6. Our GD will probably hold so that should do it.

We’re gonna blow it.
I told ya Fulham would batter us.
And I’m telling ya we’re gonna blow it.
Arsenal for the double.
It’s in the stars
