The race

Getting a bit annoyed about everyone saying that the race is over.
Massive win absolutely but we're one fuck up from letting Arsenal get close to us again.
Everything seems to stem from how Arsenal are performed against West Ham and that they play against Forest next.
The reality is the 11 points could turn to 8 points since they have a game in hand.
Of course it isn’t over. It’s looking very good for us though. But, a Couple of injuries to our back line and things could change very quickly. Not to the point that we collapse necessarily, but the pressure could easily ramp back up and that gap could shrink and fast.

Ahh don’t worry. We will lose to Newcastle weds and Arsenal will beat Forest and the sky will fall in again.
Oh, there will be several more chances for chicken little to freak out, I expect... I choose to not decide that we're gonna lose it until the sky is actually bearing down upon and actaully withing touching distance, rather than when there's simply some clouds gathering. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one...

Who's saying that it's over? Other than moronic pundits, who have to say something to stay top of mind, I mean..?

That's an idiotic response... Anybody can take any single match and make it the reason their team didn't win, if they lost by one point. You're basically saying 'we choked because we didn't win every single match that we didn't win that year, and if we had, we would have won it'. You seem to define 'choking' as 'not winning when you have a chance'. That's utter bullshit.

You have to take more than 'we should have beaten Spurs that one time' into it. Look at how we did over the whole season. Look at who we were up against. look at how we finished the season, etc... We didn't choke the year Stevie slipped - We won all but two of our last 15 or so... That was immense, considering the squad we had. We just didn't quite have enough at the very end. That's NOT choking. And we didn't choke the year of the domestic cup double, either - We were 12 minutes from winning the league and 2 results from the quad. The first year that we lost the title on the last day, we would have won EVERY OTHER TITLE, EVER... If that's choking to you, wow! And have you ever enjoyed anything?!?!?!?

If you choose to not believe that we can win the league until we've actually won the league, I can't help you... And your refusal to believe in us doesn't mean that I'm being ridiculously optimistic, either. I'm just being realistic, where as you're making being insanely pessimistic your thing. And it's nonsense. Using your logic, nothing is enjoyable until it's over and things went perfectly. No thanks - I choose NOT being a miserable twat.

Oh, and here are the answers to your childish, condescending questions:

1) Go
2) And
3) Fuck
4) Yourself.

Now you know. Cheers.

I just realized,, sorry I asked a dickhead.

We're going to win the league by 20 points.

& that's with playing the likes of Endo Quansah Harvey and Treymoha in the last 5 games.

Many (even Gary Neville) have said 'it's over' though obviously it's not mathematically done until it's done.

I think the OPTA predictions are just about right bearing in mind 7 out of our last 11 games are at Anfield and we're unbeaten away from home with only 1 defeat all season.

It would take BOTH an extraordinary collapse from us and for a striker-less Arsenal to miraculously find winning form for around 10 of their last 12 games for us to lose it from here.

Yes it's possibly only an 8 point gap. But over 11 games that is a helluva lot to try to claw back. Hence our 1/12 to 1/20 odds with the bookies.

OPTA (from the supercomputer’s 10,000 simulations)
Liverpool 95.8% (over a 10% gain after the City and West Ham results)
Arsenal 4.2%

I know this is a totally pointless conversation now, but if choking is failing under pressure then it's kind of hard to avoid the conclusion that we choked in 2019. We won virtually every game all season except when we were top and had a good lead over City. At which point we drew 4 games out of 6 until we were second again, then we started winning once that pressure was off.

We were brilliant that season, but when the pressure was on...

No ,you are a dickhead who is scared to admit previous fuckups as a reason why reasonable people on here still have doubts until we are leading by the right number of points, 11 points is fuck all.
If you really, truly think that "11 points is fuck all" with only twelve matches left to play, it's not ME who's the dickhead in this conversation, mate.

To lose it from here, we'd have to lose at least 4 matches out of 12. So far this season, we've lost ONE out of TWENTY SIX. And that's IF the arse can win EVERY MATCH they have left. Why, other than overblowing past disappointments into Shakespearean melodrama, do you think that's likely? Nobody reasonable actually expects that... They might not be singing 'Championes' just yet - as NONE of us are, by the way - but they KNOW it's less likely than our winning the title. That's ALL that I'm saying here.

There's NOTHING reasonable about expecting us to blow it from here - There's NOTHIN scientific to suggest that we will. Possible, yes, of course. Likely? Absolutely not. And, as I've already said, multiple times now, I don't think that we fucked up in other seasons when we've not ended up as champions. Not all runners up have 'choked' at some point on their journey.

Finally, if 11 points really is 'fuck all', would you be excited about our chances to win it from here, if we swapped place with them? Somehow, I doubt it.

Why are you trying to debate moron?

I think there's some semantics here. People saying it's over don't mean mathematically complete, they mean it's over like it's over when you're 3-0 up with ten minutes left. I'm guessing some people would never be happy to hear that and will say it's not over until the ref blows the whistle.

Which leads to an incredibly boring back and forth. Anyone saying it's over, doesn't mean it's over, they all know there are other games left and there's a chance that it could flip. That chance is small though, I'd say the Opta prediction of 95% seems about right.

On the last point ... 11 points is fuck all for us, I do not worry about us losing games, I worry about us drawing too many and them winning, a scenario that has luckily not happened thus far. The potential blow ups from us could happen in these games just so that you know:

Newcastle home
Brighton away
Chelsea away
Fulham away
Spurs home
Arsenal home
Crystal Palace home

Its all possible blow ups.

For them its just us, and united away that they are gonna find it hard to win against.

If we drew every one of those and won the rest Arsenal would have to win 10 of 11 matches to get passed us.

It's done moron.

So I'm clear... The team that just lost at home to West Ham (when we finally seemed within catching distance) are not going to find it hard to win all but TWO of their remaining matches..? You actually think they'll win at least 30 of their last 36 points?

Ok. I just can't help you with this. Nobody can, I'd wager. Have a good night.

Good analogy. But 3-0 is nothing. You could fuck that up in six crazy minutes.

Still, I'm happy that we're where we are

If you’re looking for more confidence that Liverpool will win the league, just sit and watch Arsenal play. Their current attacking options bring the quality of their first eleven down to the level of Villa, Chelsea, or Newcastle at best—and that’s being generous.

If you think an attack featuring Sterling, Merino, and Trossard is good enough to win nearly every game, then you have more faith in them than even the most optimistic on AFTV.

Realistically the expectation should be to increase the gap further.

Come on mate, don't be going there.

All I would say is if you want some increased faith that Liverpool will win the league, sit and watch Arsenal play. Their current attacking options brings their first eleven down in quality to no better than Villa/Chelsea/Newcastle, etc, and that could be considered generous.

If you think an attacking options including Sterling, Merino, Trossard are sufficient to win near enough every game then you have more faith in them then even most of AFTV.
Like @Modo, it all depends on the next game...when it becomes impossible for them to overtake us then we have won the league until then NO CELEBRATIONS , just enjoy the games by watching Slot Balling.

Ha, yeah. I did pick that score intentionally, I could have gone 5-0. It can happen, but there's probably a handful of times out of thousands of games where 3-0 has been over turned.
