What's the deal with this Valdes thing?

It seems to me - without having read anything in the media about it - that both parties are simply playing hardball over money and that it'll ultimately get resolved.

Ochoa is a good goalkeeper. Very flexible and a good shot stopper with his quick reaction time. Would be a good signing but he's 27, I'd rather go for butland and make him our own joe hart.

Butland is nowhere near on the same level as hart was.

Enough decent keepers in the premiership, like Simon Mignolet from Sunderland who is pretty under rated.

All this talk about keepers and no ones mentioning Celtic's keeper Forster.
So, fuck Butland.

Oh and Reina's father has commented about Barca.

Reina keen on Barca move - father

Pepe Reina's father, Miguel, has said the Liverpool goalkeeper would be "delighted" to replace Victor Valdes at Barcelona.

Miguel Reina kept goal for Barca for seven seasons in the late 1960s and early 70s, and recently began working back at the club as a goalkeeping coach.
He said he would be delighted if his son, who came through the Catalan club's youth ranks and played 49 times for them before leaving in 2002, returned to the Camp Nou.
Valdes' agent, Gines Carvajal, told Barca last week that his client would leave the club when his current contract ends in June 2014, sparking speculation about potential replacements.
Reina senior told radio station La Xarxa both he and his son thought a return to Barcelona would be a great idea.
"I am absolutely convinced that Pepe would be delighted to return to Barcelona," he said. "I would love to see him back. What father would not like to see his son play for Barca? I did it, but it would be extraordinary again, if it happened."
As a former La Masia graduate, Reina has the ability - particularly with the ball at his feet - to fit into Tito Vilanova’s side's style of play, his father said.
"Pepe has shown the measure of the goalkeeper he is and I believe he would be up to the task," he said. "Even more, he would be the ideal goalkeeper for Barcelona, without any doubt."

If we can get about 10 million for Reina, I reckon it'd be a good deal. There should be enough quality young keepers we can sign for that money, and half of Reina's wages.

I like how Rodgers is signing a few players who are tricky and can beat a man but I hope this isn't ultimately going to hold back the likes of Suso and Shelvey. They may end up in limbo, not getting games but not being loaned either because they're part of the first team squad.

Think Coutinho will wind up as a winger/wing-forward in England rather than the third/attacking midfielder. So I don't really see him competing with Suso and Shelvey as such. I think he'd get the minutes Assaidi was meant to get.

iConcur.

Also, someone mentioned that Celtic keeper. If Reina goes we should be all over him. He's beasty.

If Barca are offering us a fee in the ballpark of 10 million, take it and invest it in one of the hot young german goalkeepers. We can find our Courtois ...

We will be lucky to £5 million for him because of his wages.

Rumour in Spain is the gayer is wanted as Valdes replacement and scum want reina!

Him coming in would affect Suso's and Shelveys time on the pitch even if he did play mostly on the wing though. I can see Coutinho being played also on the centre but interchanging with other forwards.
