The not so Official January Transfer Rumour Thread

I feel as though I should apologise for thinking ferguson is a manipulating hypocritical bully, who uses his, and his clubs influence at the FA to, basically say what he likes, immune from censure.

We should bid for Coutinho at 10m. I predict he'll become a 30m pound player, at least.
I've watched him loads.
One regular compilation and another 5-a-side compilation of when he was 14.

I guess that's a great move for him financially, but I do wonder how someone who's a bit of a nutter already will deal with the racism issue as it will pop up there.

I really want Coutinho to happen. On FIFA 11, I got him for my championship Colchester side on a free after having him on loan for a year. He was ace, and unbelievable business, this leads me to believe that for £10million, he'll be an absolute steal.

I'm lovin that.

This is the kind of signing we should be looking to make - highly talented kid who's struggling at a big club at a fair fee. WORST case scenario, we sell at slightly loss after 1-2 years of unconvincing displays. He's more likely to be a contributing player - and best case scenario? A player that we can build a team around ...

2012 highlights (albeit, only 3 minutes!)

Waste of money I think.
We have a decent squad already and anyways it's not like this signing will secure us the title this season, this season is finished.
Why not save the money and buy some real world-class talent in the summer to complement Suarez, so he'll see the club has ambitions.

Coutinho has every chance if becoming a world class talent. Hopefully, Rodgers can get him and coax him into super stardom

He IS a world class talent.

I don't expect him to make much difference this season though, so you have a point there. But I think this is exactly the kind of signing we should be taking a risk on. At this point we can't compete with Man Citys and Chelseas of the world for established world-class players. But we can invest in young players with world-class potential and build a team that will eventually equal the biggest-spending clubs in terms of talent and beat them at teamwork and cohesion.

The season is not finished. It might be if the next few games don't go our way, but as things stand, we're in the best form we've been in all season, and we're only 7 points from 4th, with Tottenham still to come to Anfield. We certainly shouldn't be giving up on it at this stage, and I dare say Rodgers and the players feel the same.

The Echo is saying Coutinho is set to sign. They're normally on the money when it comes to LFC. Let's wait and see

Sounds like Sahin all over again. He was the dogs bollocks before he signed and then turned out to be a big girl who couldnt handle the the Prem.

Just shows how polarised the views of fans can be at times. FSG are taking stick on the Echo page for going for this lad, probably the same fans who moan about Spurs and Arsenal picking up exciting young attacking players all the time.

A few years back, if Rafa had signed an International Brazilian winger we'd have all said he was buying exactly the sort of player we needed, now it's all meh because people have become dead set against the ideal about trying to build a long term future.

As for Sneijder, he would have been a good idea but it didn't really look like good business going off his demands, and as said, if his primary motivation is a financial one, when he could have had reasonable wages here anyway, then I'm not sure it would have worked out. He also hadn't played since September, which would have see us having to be overindulgent with him while he got fit and we wouldn't really have seen the best of him until the end of this season, so despite needing a short term fix, the reality would have been different. At least we had a go anyway, showing the policy isn't that set in stone as many of the critics of the owners seem to think.
