The not so Official January Transfer Rumour Thread

A summary of all the big fat hairy bollocks relating to players:

Benat Etxebarria – From Real Betis

The 25 year old Spanish international has 18 months left on his contract, and Rodgers could be tempted to try convince FSG to meet his buyout clause of €20m (around £16m) if he chooses to strengthen his midfield.

Eduardo Vargas – From Napoli

The 23 year old Chilean striker could be on the move this window. Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea are mentioned as possible destinations based on previous claims by his agent, Cristian Ogalde. According to TalkSport, Brazilian club Sao Paulo are also interested.

“I do not know if this is the last we’ll see of Vargas at Napoli,” Ogalde told Radio Gol. “That all depends on the club. It is very likely that he’ll leave though. That decision however, is entirely down to them. The player just wants to play again in order to feel important.”

Micah Richards – From Manchester City

According to TuttoMercato, Liverpool are interested in signing the versatile 24 year old defender. With Pablo Zabaleta being the clear first choice and Maicon providing more than decent backup, his opportunities at right back could be limited; and with the likes of Kompany, Lescott and Nastasic in the centre, he could be tempted to move in order to get more first team football.

Tom Ince – From Blackpool

After Liverpool’s initial interest seemed to cool down due to clubs not being able to agree on a fee, Ince senior has now joined Tom in showdown talks with Blackpool to push through a move. Yesterday The Mirror claimed Liverpool have made a £5m offer and are willing to go higher, but negotiations are made complicated because of the issue with the 10 per cent sell-on fee the player is due.

Ince played against Fulham in the FA Cup today, which could indicate he will stay put this window.

And the rest…

Liverpool are reportedly close to signing 21-year-old defender Nicolas Isimat-Mirin from Valenciennes. PSG are also interested.

Palermo’s Slovenian playmaker Josip Ilicic has been linked to Liverpool, but the rumours have been rubbished by his agent.

Schalke’s central defender Benedikt Höwedes has put contract talks on hold. The Liverpool linked 24 year old has 18 months left on his contract.

Rumours circulating about Kevin Gameiro having agreed to join Liverpool on loan, but the move depends on whether PSG allow him to leave or not.

Höwedes, please

Chelsea are getting Isco too? Is this confirmed?
Looked amazing when I've seen him in action. Would be a class signing for any team really.

Only upside if true, less competition for Eriksen's signature come Summer.

Micah Richards is only 24? He seems to have been around for years.

Whilst I'm not interested in Richards, we are short of full backs.

Feck arse....

CLOSE: Younes #Belhanda is now in advanced negotiations with #Fenerbahce to sign for €11m. 90% there. #MHSC. Big news.

Dmishra will be devastated

Balotelli is an average footballer. He's got 1 in 3 at both Inter and Man City. Don't believe the hype.

Not me. He has well above average skills but ultimately no more than average effectiveness because of all the baggage he brings with him.

Balotelli needs (a) to go home to Italy and (b) to grow up. I suspect (a) will now follow. I wouldn't give much for the chances of (b) happening.

All this talk of what players to sign and NO ONE has come up with the idea of signing a few referees the way utd have done.

I would make a great manager.

MANCHESTER UNITED are tracking Borussia Dortmund’s athletic and influential £15m-rated midfielder, Sven Bender.
As Sir Alex Ferguson prepares, finally, to sign a midfield player with strong defensive attributes, United’s scouts have been regular visitors at Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park over the course of this season — with Bender coming under detailed scrutiny.
There is a need for United to find a long-term partner for Michael Carrick, who has been excellent this season, and Bender, could be that man. The 23-year-old’s driving performances were regarded as a key component in his club’s success in winning last season’s Bundesliga — earning him the attention of United, who were scouting Shinji Kagawa.
Bender’s 2012-13 campaign has been interrupted by a series of injuries, including a hamstring problem, but United remain keen.
Ferguson, who has appeared to rule out major signings in the current transfer window, may wait until the summer should he decide to make a bid. Dortmund are desperate not to lose such a pivotal player and may well ask for more than the £15m that is seen as Bender’s current market value.
United, who stand seven points clear at the top of the Premier League, have also monitored PSV Eindhoven’s Dutch international midfielder, Kevin Strootman, who has similar qualities to Bender and is rated in the £15m bracket, but it is thought interest from Liverpool in Strootman is more concrete.

Where is that from?

Strootman would be super!
